As usual.. they are more worried about making money instead of making a serious fair balanced strategy game. You dont have to be good at the game, you just have to have enough money to BUY first place

Evil thoughts: should we make illegal dummy accounts, settle double gold cities, then sell them on e-bay for $1 each, to prove the point to Ubisoft?

Vesuvius....

I'm interested in taking TOH to France. I played Season 2 on one of their servers (no I don't speak French but google translate does) and found the players much better, much more competitive, and much more enjoyable.

I can't excited to play with TOH on an American server because.... honestly... there won't be any competition!

And I can't really get excited to play Season 3 on a French server because with the lower maintenance thresholds, success depends more and more on co-operation and communication. And reading everything through google translate becomes a pain...

So think it over please. We might even get a little France vs USA action going... which could take things to the next level...

I'm sold....

I was wondering if you could explain the relationship between gold and honor...

I've heard someone mention it is 1 : 1 but I don't understand how you would go about figuring that out.... any ideas?

I'm asking because it seems less and less worthwhile to play academy or necro.... especially since barrage fire with inferno appears to work so well....  I was thinking there might be a way to pair raise dead with academy to create an edge in gaining honor...

In seasons 1 and 2, I was normally willing to accept 1.5 gold in troop losses for each additional point of honor I'd earn.  For example, Peasants cost 220 gold each, so if I could fight a battle with no losses and earn 3000xp, or a different configuration would make me lose a Peasant but I'd earn 3160xp, I'd choose the second configuration since I'd earn 160xp at a cost of 220 gold, which is a price lower than 1.5 gold/xp.

The advantage of using a single number like 1.5 is that it makes your decisions across different battles consistent with each other.  You don't penny-pinch in one battle only to accept a much worse deal in another.  This principle is more important than the exact number 1.5.

You often need to carefully order your battles and builds so you don't get screwed by limited troop supply, though, and sometimes there are specific troops you cannot afford to lose at all early on.

hey DB... thanks for the reply.... as a token of my appreciation I would like to let you know that I have been using the expression 'doombolting the server'... in commemoration to your gaming on the Charge of Paladins(?) server we played on....

now that we are at it... supposedly you had a mole in ________ (can't remember the name of the alliance) (Fantasy or something.... ) tell their alliance leader that there was a glitch/bug and if you defended with 100 infantry you could win any battle??? and he tried to stop you like this??? dunno... but this is what you hear when you are at the end of the line in a game of telephone....

anyways.... of course one question leads to another.... so... I'll try to stop myself next time...

any reason you came upon 1.5 gold/exp?

Yes, the original top alliance on Charge of the Paladins was led by this guy who just believed in recruiting lots of people into more and more wing alliances, while not actually being very good at the game himself.  Some of his recruiting was under the threat of war, and this bit him in the ass when one of these not-really-voluntary recruits became our mole and successfully disrupted his attempt to deny me a stolen tear in the manner you describe (I don't remember the exact details but it really was about as stupid as you recount).

Re: 1.5, it was the first or second value I tried and it just worked well.  There wasn't much to gain by fine-tuning the number further... until I screwed around a bit on one of the accelerated summer PvE servers, and found that the 1.5 gold/xp rule resulted in my taking more losses than I could naturally replace.  On those servers, 1 gold/xp probably would have worked better.

It looks like the admins closed the "buy your way to victory via infinite repops" loophole (thank god), but you still have more PvE combat opportunities than before thanks to vestiges, so I wonder a little about whether 1.5 still holds up.

I like Resurrection--I actually would have considered it for this season WITHOUT the 50% boost.  Granted, I have quirky taste (went with Magic Resistance last season), but I certainly think it's a justifiable choice now.

haha... good stuff.... another guy screwed him over too by developing the next tear as slowly as possible and then leaving the alliance...

I played around with Resurrection and don't know if I'm a fan. The amount of troops brought back (6% at lvl 10) depends on the # of troops you bring INTO battle. I think it is intended to encourage people down the 'wealth path' since you could tack on any number of troops onto the tail end of your actual fighting troops and have all loses brought back. (ex. 20 marksman actually fighting and then you add 200 peasants to increase the army power and bring wounded marksmen back). But you end up with no honor points. :/

Magic Resistance was great for a teal stealing legacy protector. Nothing worse for a mono stack than implosion. Especially if you could catch them off guard. Now that the entrance to fortresses are magic free Magic Resistance is almost worthless it seems.

Resurection vs Daily Recruitment

I think resurection will suffer the same 'flaw' as battle spoils: you don't fight enough everyday on average to balance it out. Also with daily recruitment you get troops % for the whole army in the city, not just what you bring to the fight. Finally, when you don't do the fight but sacrifice troops to a fortress, resurection just doesn't help (while daily recruitment allows to send the excess troop to the fortress).

It might be good at the beginning of the server because you could clear out tiles quickly without loosing army value.

I hate the nerfing, but I am thinking to stay DR/PC.

To Paco44:  TOH's influence in Heroes Kingdoms will be less this season (season3) mostly because homm6 is coming out.  Its by far a more real game, as HK was a broswer distraction.  So to expand into a french server is overkill haha.

As for legacy, I'm doing a rather 'alternate' type of legacy on the Dragon Legacy 3 server (but then again its more to experiment with):
Talented hero7, Daily Recruitment8, Pop Contribution8, RingofMalice7
So the legacy hero in this case doesn't really fight, becomes more a builder/merchant hero.

good ideas on Legacy.... I thought about it a little and it looks like the two obvious choices are the builder/merchant like Vesuvius described for Haven/Sylvan and a Talented/Barrage/PersonalWealth/Shield for Necro(or Academy/Necro)....

I think most of us on Dragon Legacy are just testing stuff out.

As i previously stated I'm not fond of this whole seal thing. I hope i will get enough seals here on DL to be able to convert starting mine to gold on the actual server from the get go.

But yes, H6 will take over priority soon, as this was indeed just a minigame.

I have been messing with raise dead as oppose to resurrection and so far like it better at least early game.  I am honor first so at lv 10 you get 37.5% raised. It is however a percentage of actual loses. Ex. 10 killed in battle normally would lose 3. would only lose 2.

I am also experimenting with Raise Dead... altho.. Jacarti shows the % as being only 22.5% instead of 37%  so which is correct?

Somebody managed to get 5 cities in 3 days on the dragon legacy server. Do we know the formula for that?

Also, it seems the price for city settling has been lowered. My third city in alliance territory was 17k gold 22 wood, 22 Ore.

Yes, NPC fight times have been lowered, and settling costs seem to be quite a bit cheaper.  That palladyn fellow is using the forest refresh/vestige process to get such high Honor.  I plan to do the same in the future.

I'm im 1 pvp and 2 pve servers. Got n1 with huge lead in personal chart for Wealth and top 10 for rest 2

If you use combo from Diplomacy and Resurrect you can run 0 losses and up domination very fast for get extra towns, but you wont gain good honor and your hero wont be good for pvp later. I don't think this rush tactic is good in long termn.

I'd like to play with TOH again for S3. If you're looking for people to fill specific roles, such as mass troop production for sacrificing, etc., let me know. I'm not particularly picky about which faction I play, though was thinking perhaps either haven or inferno.

I won't have my S2 legacy for another week, but I'm expecting my total to be in the 1070 range. I figured I'd play a week or two on the current or second S3 server to play around with legacy options; at this point I'm still undecided about the direction I want to go with legacy.
