The problems of Heroes 6!

I finally got to play the beta in a friend. Unfortunately, to say I am not impressed will be kind of me. Let's see what are the thing that I don't like. You have probably noticed them all, but anyways...

- The townscreen is very inconvenient and is not full screen! The only way to get out of the town screen is to press the miniature X button which is very small and inconvenient.

- There aren't adventure map dwellings for every creature. AGAIN!!!

- There practically aren't TOWN BUILDINGS!!! You simply see some ugly pictures in the town build tree, and the creature dwellings don't even have pictures (they are simply a pic of the corresponding creature).

- When you construct a building, you don't see it at all and you don't "feel" the constucting, because there is no distinct sound of that, like in H3 and H4. You simply hear a quiet tic.

- You can't see at a glance what building you can build and what you can't. The buildings you can build must be painted in a distinct colour - for example green, like in H5. The upgrades you can build must be blue, again like in H5. I like the red painted buildings that are unavailable though.

- All of the above also goes for the available hero skills when you level up. They are all the same and you cannot see which of them are available and which are not until you gaze in the miniature ticks below them.

- All the grail structures are named simply "Tears of Asha"! And why in plural?

- Most of the texts in the game are written in a very poor English and have many typographical errors. A LOT OF THEM!!!

- The Destiny/Leadership names are very annoying.

- The hero artifact interface is UGLYYYY! WE WANT A PAPER DOLL FIGURE!!! Now it's so confusting you can't figure out what artifacts you have and where to place them.

- I didn't succeed in finding out how the hell to dismiss a hero?

- Luck and morale bonuses in combat trigger so quickly before the unit's action that you almost cannot see them. They also don't have a nice, distinguishable sound like in H3 and H5. FIX THAT!!!

- There should be a way to turn off the damage number that appears when you hit a creature. It's annoying. I want to see only the number of killed creatures, if any.

- Why the hell 10 sisters do more thamage than 6 sun crusaders???

- While I was waiting for the PC players to make their turns, sometimes I was warped to their battles and I had to watch them in their entirety!

- The "Threat" level on the neutral stacks is bugged. It showed me "Low" on a horde of Vampires while I only had a small bunch of core units.

- Why is there a "week of sulfur" when there is no such resource in the game?

- As you know, throwing out sulfur, gems, mercury and the red crystals sucks. Big time!

- And last, and probably most important - WHERE ARE THE PROMISED " INTERACTIVE 2D" TOWN SCREENS???? Are you liars???? These ugly, rotating pictures are completely useless!

To wrap it up - unfortunately I am very disappointed with most aspects in the game. As in Heroes 4, they have again destroyed the Heroes traditions just to "do something new"... I mean stupid thing like removing the classical resources, removing the dragons, removing the town screens. Why? Why? Why?...

Good to see that you saw all the other threads where people are discussing their beefs with the game...and then decided to make your own.

I agree with most of your points, incidentally - although I don't remember them promising any interactive 2D town screens.  I don't remember hearing any promises whatsoever.

I mainly played HOMM 3 as it stood out as the perfect game.. But i think the new one has potential, but maybe not until they make a HOMM 7, as some of this new stuff is brilliant but some just needs to get out og this game.

I agree with many ofthe things you have written. However, these 3
1) You can see, they are in a different color
2) Becasue 10 Sisters does not do more damaage than 6 Sun Crusaders...
3) But if you read that week more carefully, you wouldn't have asked that question =/

Sisters do some pretty good damage to undead or demons, especially those who have low magic defense. Still not sure that even under those circumstances they can deal more damage than an elite unit.

1. Because Charge doesn't work
2. Unless you were playing with a magic hero (with A LOT more magic attack than might attack), it's simply impossible

There WON'T be any new town screen before release. It has been announced and said about one hundred times already.

That, my friend, is named STRATEGY. And Heroes is supposed to be a STRATEGY game, not a collect-them-all-in-the-1stweek-and-shoot-em-up crap. I'm so glad that people are taking advantage of all the work I have done in the FAQ.. It might have felt an utter waste of time otherwise.

Your feedback is very valuable for us, and we would like to thank you for all your comments.
We noticed some issues remain important for you.
Important changes like the town screens and user interface were already notified by our VIP fans during the “technical beta” phase.
These features are on our “improve” list, but they’re not the only priorities and they would take a lot of time of development.
The development team at Black Hole and Ubisoft are working hard to be able to offer you the best possible Heroes experience at the time of release.
However, we must inform you that it will be hardly feasible to change the user interface (including the town screens) for the release.
That being said, we’d like you to keep in mind that we won’t stop improving the game beyond September 8th. We’ll continue to update and improve Heroes VI after the release date.

Sure, just like Fabrice promised before heroes 5 in the beginning that there would be monthly patches for the game, 1-2 new official map every month and so on. In the end what did we got over 40 months of exploitation ? Something like 7 patches (2 of it where actually expansions to buy), 3-4 new maps. And a pendig 3.2 patch that was hinted to include a huge addition but that just got cancelled.

That's irrelevant. I have yet to see a valid argument that doesn't involve that it was like this until H5 and that it adds color to map .... seriously ? It adds colors ? WTH is that for an argument ?

Yeah, and now you're hunting for blood crystal. Broken Alliance is a RUSH map and is designed as such, meaning A LOT of creatures and A LOT of resources. Playing Sandor's campaign on a hard difficulty shows you what it is to play on a map with very little amounts of crystals available (only 1 mine) and as such blood crystal fullfils its role of rare resources very well.

A higher number of resources doesn't make a better game. There are plenty of good strategy games that work with 1, 2 or 3 resources. You only seem to be looking for another excuse than "it was like this since the beginning"

More resources sure make a good management game, but not a better strategy game and THAT's what *I* dislike with the new system. They removed the resource management part of the game because *THEY* considered it was not part of the game. As for many other things (like town screens for example), they're heavily mistaken.

Not by release for sure. As I said in another topic, they hinted that they *might* work on it, so we might get better town screens in a patch AFTER release ... or we might not

He didn't say it adds colors, he said it makes the game more colorful, which means give it an additional "flavor", "soul".
