Tales of Monkey Island - Your favorite swashbuckling adventure in 5 Chapters!

Anyone played this game? I recently got hooked onto the Monkey Island saga again, and since my father had recently bought the 5th and latest installment of the games, I gave it a try and...

It is seriously addictive. Admittedly it doesn't beat the second and third games in both fun and adventure, but I do think it is an apt and deserving sequel (or rather: quintquel) to the Monkey Island saga.

Regardless however it is a solid game - the puzzles are all doable, and you can get plenty of hints to solve the more complex ones. (the number of hints you receive from Guybrush and others can also be limited in the main menu).

Overall it is not too challenging, but that has never been the biggest asset of the game: the story and the overal *adventure* has always taken the most centric role in the game... and in that aspect Tales definitely delivers.

Unlike the previous, rather simple stories mostly supported with bizarre and haphazard (yet effective) humor, Tales has an rather potent and dramatic storyline while keeping the usual aspects of the average Monkey Island game: Funny characters, hilarious and cheesy dialogues and ridiculous situations which will consistently crack you up.

In short, it is basically your good old swashbuckling adventure of the days of yore, with a more grown-up story than usual, but with all the well-known (and amazing) recurring characters. All of this devided among 5 chapters, each of which can be bought individually, if interested. Each chapter has a distinctive storyline, in addition to Tales' overal storyline.

There's plenty of more to say, but I don't have time to give a more *detailed* review. If you have interest in playing a good, light-hearted adventure game, I can definitely recommend Tales to you, as this game is just incredibly fun to play.

More later, if anyone's interested ^__^

You're only finding out about it now? I've got that game for nearly 3 years now.

And yeah, It's great. The division into five chapters made sense at the time, but it also makes the pace go up and down like a seesaw.

It's awesome - everything Telltale Games touch turns to gold if you ask me.

I wouldn't say everything. But many things, certainly. Telltale is one of the better smaller developers out there. And I'd dare say that they have single-handedly resurrected the point-n-click genre.

Well, at least one of the CSI games Ubi made them develop was kind of crappy... and I've only tried the one. It was terrible. Hard Evidence I think it was called.

In total they have made 5 CSI games.

And a game about a TV series, how can you expect it to not suck?

Hmm, I wasn't aware they were responsible for those. That changes everything.
