The Markkur - Gibblets Map Generator

Welcome to the MGMG.
Here Markkur and I will upload all of our maps individually and combined that are ready to release. *We recommend using Quantomas' AI for all of our maps. We tested them all to be compatible and optimized for it.

Enemy Sighted! is a map that Markkur and I have been working on since Fall 2010 and it's finally ready to release. It's primarily water based with 8 players and 4 teams. The teams are split with one player above and the other underground. Players start with a Port town that is limited in it's development as well as access to a fully build-able town on a conquerable main island. The main Island contains all of their mines and adventure buildings. Also the main Island is completely inaccessible by water, so the only route of attack comes by the Port town. Most of the action takes place on the sea and around the plethora of Islands scattered around the map. I came up with a different way to gather secondary resources (to me, at least) which involves a small Island with two Windmills, and a Sanctuary/Outpost combo. This map is being released in two flavours The first,'Vanilla', is the map by itself and the second version,'Special Ed', comes with a few extras, I've archived every version of the map that we have exchanged while making Enemy Sighted! and will include them for anyone that is interested in seeing the process. As well we've also got a collection of screens. All of it is contained within a .rar file.
*Note, secondary resources are scarce so careful planning of what to build and a balance of attacking players and treasuries is required

The Six Strangers, which I have already released, but in the interest of coherency I'm going to add it to the MGMG as well.
The map is 2 level, Extra Large and designed for 6 human or computer players plus 2 mandatory computer opponents(one up and down). Each player starts in a race specific region that they share with one of the two enemy AI. The first priority is to work together with the other enemy players to defeat the computer controlled opponent who owns the other half of your race specific regions. Then consolidate your region and head out into the rest of the map where there are plenty of teleports to move quickly into an enemies territory (for an Extra Large map, that is), 3 special zones per level and of course the other 5 players.

I recommend you explore every region in the map, as all are visually appealing and unique. I also recommend playing it on hard and using the new HoMM5.5 Eternal Essence AI, as it provides a better challenge and much faster computer turn times.

*notes - The Navigation skill is useless on this map, as testing has shown ships were detrimental to the pace and flow of the game (pun intended )
         - This map facilitates high level hero fights.
         - For the Dwarven team I replaced the usual resource system (Ore pit, Sulfur mine, etc) with Dwarven Mines and a Trading Post.
         - As usual, eye-candy galore
         - There is a Spell Merchant and Memory Mentor located in each of the Special Zones, among many other things.

Low level Fight this map began with the concept of only having access to lvl 1-4 creatures except at a few external dwellings that contain lvl 7's. It has proven to be great entertainment especially during hot-seat as the map and armies are smaller so it only takes about 4-6 hours to complete.(depending on Human players)
The map has four players, no teams. I haven't figured out yet how to get Random towns/dwellings to work so to change the teams on the map open up the map in the editor, select the town you would like to change, go into the shared properties and set the value to whichever town you want. All of the random Dwellings on the map are set to change according to what town you choose for each player.

*edit

I've added a link to my latest map which is in need of some rigorous testing.

It is a 2 player co-op map against the AI with a twist. In the Middle to Late game the human players have multiple opportunities to buff an allied AI player which is released during the Late game to help you defeat your AI adversaries.

Hmmm. can't say what's up with the site. Gibblets edits this page.

Anyway, I've up-loaded these 2 to mediafire.

Enemy Sighted

ES

Six Strangers

Six

I took a look through my maps and no "Huge FFAs". We'll have to do something about that. Maybe that can be our next project. Stay tuned.

Oh and don't forget about trying maps at the E.E.web-site. I know Q made some smaller FFAs.

@Mihal
I'm sorry that you've had difficulty getting access to the files, and if you've had difficulty then so have many others who will remain silent about it. I'll search for a really good file hosting site that won't drop my files after a month and edit them into the thread. In the meantime I will Email the most recent version all of the maps to you directly.
The Six Strangers is an Extra Large FFA. so I guess not quite your criteria of Huge but it's almost fully explorable so it feels like it's a Huge map.

@Markkur
Thx for holding down the fort as per usual. I think your new nick should be fortnight
