Kane walked by the road, his head low as if to hide his face, his eyes hidden from whoever would walk by. Those who saw him did not remember him, he were but a vague memory of random people. He were a no one. That was the way he liked it, if there were loads of witnesses then people would know how to find him. He would be hunted by the government within a matter of days. No, not him. He shook his head and smiled slightly. He were too experienced for that, a retrieval expert for more than a dozen years now he knew all the tricks in the book. There were, however, some that would still be able to surprise him. Supers was among those, but also this new player in town. This normal man who was able to take down Archon. Who was that man? It played with his curiosity, a riddle he wanted to solve but knew he shouldn't get involved in. Inferno would probably know, but that meant he would have to take a side in this war. He preferred being a silent judge, an unknown factor. He was feeling nostalgic this night, feeling like taking a walk down to the docks and think of the old days. Maybe kill a few smugglers in the process. Yeah, that sounded like a plan. With a vague smile he turned right down another street and walked toward the docks.

Ghoul was a small time criminal known for his pale shrunken appearance. Despite his seemingly apparent frailty, he has heightened senses, is very tough and very fast, giving him an obvious advantage against normals, but he was by no means invulnerable. He was working with some smugglers at the docks as a hired gun, making sure that his employers got what they wanted with no trouble. Just as they were about to make the deal, Ghoul sniffed the air and noticed someone coming. He have a silent warning to his employers and took out his rifle with his sharp clawed hands. He gave a signal to a couple of other hired guns and went down the dock cautiously towards where Kane was.
"Very well." replied Inferno as he took the disc from Vlaad. He then stood up, looked around, and then said, "How do I get back?"

Kane walked between a couple of parked cars, mass produced scrap metal. An expensive BMW and an even more expensive Mercedes. He snorted, typical low lives trying to buy respect with material possessions. Pricy possessions did not do much good when your life was on the line, which was why he owned nothing more than what he needed. He pulled his coat tighter around himself, sticking to the shadows. To a normal eye he would seem all but invisible, but he knew better than anyone that he could still be seen. He felt the nearby rooftops to make sure there were no sentries there, and he could hear no sounds from guards either.
Safe. he thought. Let's see which of my old colleagues are still using these smuggling routes.
He walked on, his senses cast wide around him to prepare for whatever might happen. Kane lifted his head high and clenched his jaw. Oh how I miss seeing the stars.

Ghoul spotted Kane approaching them. He raised his rifle and aimed it at Kane. The some of the other guards followed suit, while the rest went back to the smugglers, thinking that Ghoul and his men had it under control.
"Oi! You there!" yelled out Ghoul in his raspy voice. "Ya got fi' seconds before I blow ye f*ckin' head off! So git de hell outta here!"

Kane looked toward the direction of the voice and felt the others presence, they were several and armed with firearms. They could not permanently damage him but he didn't feel like taking any chances. He would simply play along and if that didn't work he had his guns hidden beneath his jacket for long range combat and his knives for close combat. He held his hands up as to show he was unarmed.
"I am looking for Vinny!" Kane shouted back at Ghoul. "He used to work here. I'm an old friend of his. Does he still hang around here? I heard he needed a reliable guy to deliver some stuff for him."

"Vinny?" said Ghoul. "Who the hell is he?"
"Oh, he must be talking about Vincent the dockworker." said one of the guards. "Last I heard, he was laid off, but still hangs around here. He gets paid by the local smugglers for his little info biz though. I'll go get him."
"Yeah, you do that." replied Ghoul. He then looked back at Kane and said, "Stay right there."
A couple minutes passed, and then a scream shouted out. There were a couple of gunshots and then it ended.
"What the hell?!" said Ghoul as he turned around with the other guards. He quickly turned back to Kane and said, "Oi. You got anything ta do wit' dis?"

"Of course not." Kane answered, sounding offended. "What is going on?"
He relaxed his shoulders slightly, getting ready to pull out his guns in case Ghoul or the others shifted into a more aggressive position.

"Eh. Not sure. You sure don't sound like you're lying, so you're off the hook." replied Ghoul, relaxing a bit, but still being wary of Kane.
"Hey, you guys okay over there?" yelled out another guard down the dock to where the screaming came from.
No answer.

"You might need another gun to check it out, if whoever fired took out your men that easily." Kane shouted. "May I come over without having my head blown off? I don't carry a gun, but if you have one extra I could be of some assistance at least."

Kane smiled and advanced toward Ghoul. "I actually knew a Vinny who used to work here, tiny little fellow. He sold plenty of his buddies out to the machine mob. Didn't last long after that. I've also heard of the guy that probably took out your guys. He's not a super from what I know, just an ordinary guy like you and me."
Kane pulled one of his guns out of its holster. "I've been hunting him after he started taking out criminals. The police should strike harder against vigilantes, they are a menace to society."
Oh the irony. he thought.

"More than us, eh?" replied Ghoul. "Ain't that the story. Alright, let's go. James, watch out backs, will ye? We don't want to be hit from behind."
"Mhm." replied a big man with a small gun.
Ghoul and the others then advanced along with Kane, making sure that he didn't get behind them.

Melony could feel Jack now herself. "Stop the cab, I can go the rest of the way on my own. Rob, thanks for your help. I'm not going to force you to come any farther... but I don't think that you should go back either. I guess that you could come join me and Lisa for a while, but right now, I'm picking up Kane." She opened the cab door, "If I have to do so literally. See you around, Rob."
Melony got out of the cab and started towards the docks. The rest of sitting in a warm cab had done her good, Melony felt revitalized and energized, though not quite eighty percent.If any muggers got in her way, they would be in for a world of hurt... then there was still slightly-supercharged Miasma to consider...

Rob paid the cab driver then looked to where Kane was, then noticed something.
"Another super...some normals...then dead normals near their location and...oh god...him,,," muttered Rob to himself.
He immediately sprinted to Melony and as soon as he caught up with her he said, "Melony, no! You cannot go that way! It's too dangerous!"

Like the universe was out to get me." said Rob, his eyes wide with fear and his breath short. "And every time I look at him. He stares right back at me, and I feel naked inside. Like he was laying my soul open to be pierced by some mysterious force. Please don't go...somehow, he makes bad things happen to people around him, and I don't want bad things to happen to me...or you."

Melony and Miasma could not feel this man Rob was talking about. Perhaps Rob was one of the few people alive that could detect this man. "Rob, stay here. Stay away from that man. I will go and make sure that Jack, er, Kane gets the hell out of here alive, and then we are going to leave, alright? Just stay out of harms way." Melony pinpointed Kane again and moved swiftly toward his location.

When Kane moved he made sure to do so with speed unmatched by any non-super. He yanked his other gun loose from behind his back and fired two shots at each of the guys behind him, his other gun pointing forward already firing at the ones in front. His teeth bared he didn't feel like taking on a dozen armed guys with his fists only, so he made sure at least half of them were down before he had to.
