Trip To England

Well the big day has nearly arrived. I made a thread a month or so ago saying how I was leaving and this is the reason why. I will be leaving for England on a two year Work Visa tomorrow. If anybody wants to catch up just let me know. I'll be in South East London and it wouldn't take me too long to get to central London if anybody wanted to meet me there.

When I'm settled and all I'll be sure to pop in here a fair bit more. Just the past few weeks have been a bit hectic and all with trying to organise everything and I didn't have enough time for this place as I would have liked.

remember three important things.

1. Minger is a compliment
2. on the second tuesday of every month, failure to wear your underpants outside your trousers is a hangable offense.
3. always pack an umbrella, as it rains... constantly.

apart from that, have a great time whilst over here.

Have a great trip, Will my lad.  Go easy on those air stewards.  They're only doing their job!!!  Try not to arrive at Heathrow, totally plastered.  Gemma will have you cavity searched at Customs.  (Personally I'm banking on this ... now might not be a good time to mention my little phone call to Heathrow, tipping them off that you are a psychotic drugs mule with a dead body in your suitcase).

Pity I'm not living in London anymore.  I would have shown you the sights ... well mainly nightlife and we could have gotten plastered together.  Instead we will just have to continue skyping and wishing we were p**sed because of the conversation

Hope everything goes well.

Speak soon.

Theres approx 94.21 miles between Gloucester (where I live) and London so no chance of just bumping in to each other.

Good luck and remember don't look quilty when going through customs even though you know about Meroes phone call .

I was petrified when I went to America cos I had heard how strict the border patrol were with there attitude and big guns. I found the women border staff worse cos they never smiled, snapped the questions at you and were really snowy. The male border staff were friendlier and at least smiled and spoke to you politely.

I will be doing it all again in October but this time at SFO airport .

Well enough about you two...after all, this is my thread about me.

So what happened? Well, I got to Heathrow after a bloody long journey. I went from Sydney to Melbourne, then Melbourne to Hong Kong and then Hong Kong to London. Wasn't that long of a flight, about 21 or so hours in total but my lord it was boring.

I got to Immigration and the lady asked me a few questions and all. I was honest when she asked if I have ever been to England before. I told her I had tried but was sent back. She then told me to sit down and she'll be back in a few minutes and that there was nothing to worry about. Obviously, I started to panic and was thinking "oh ****, not again!!". She came back after a while, with my passport and boarding pass, and then I went up to her and asked if everything was alright and she said yes. The reason why I had to sit down was because since I got sent back last time, it came up on the system so she wanted to just check that out and all and she said that I was fine because I had the visa and all.

So here I am, third day in England, writing this. So exciting. This place is so much different from where I live. Good and bad really. I think everybody that I have come across or bumped into loves the Aussie accent and all because I've bumped into randoms at the pub or shops and then just started chatting away to them about Australia and all. I love it really.

Picturesm will be coming sooooon. Thanks everybody for your support and all.

Well congratulations for actually getting onto British soil this time lol.  And damn you for foiling my plans!!!!  I had a photographer at the airport and everything!!!

Anyways, good to know you landed safely and in one piece  Although I'm somewhat surprized you have managed to find the time to log onto HC

Indeed England is massively different to Australia and my money is still on you two moving back to Australia. haha.

Well enjoy the fish & chips; jellied eels and stodge that will become your diet from now on, washed down with gallons of lager.  Next pictures will be of a massive beer gut and drinkers nose hahaha.

As a Brit, I've never heard of any of these.

However:-

Fisticuffs = a fight
lolly = popsicle
cheese on toast = grilled cheese
gun = gun

studmuffin = handsome guy
sweets = candy
crisps = potato chips
chips = fried potato's (not fries)
fries = fries
sarnie = sandwich

And many more, but you will find out, at least you have your girlfriend to translate.

British people also all play a game in which they try to get foreigners to use incorrect slang. See above.
