I suppose there will also be PC support... some day.

They mentioned during the release announcement that other platforms would be coming next year, which is sad for me too, as I will NEVER own an apple device, for many reasons. But, hey, look on the bright side, we'll probably get a more polished version for pc

Somehow it slipped my mind, but Valkyria Chronicles 4 is coming Fall 2018. I thought it was a spinoff or something entirely new, but it seems it's actually very similar to the first iteration, which was an exceptional game. It has the same setting/timeline, only different war front. Even the mechanics are mostly untouched only enhanced.

For those of you who don't know it's a mix of tactical RPG and an action game, set in WWII like fictional universe similar to Europe. The gameplay is one of a kind (your movement is turn based, based on a pool of action points, but you target and use cover like in action games) and judging by how it was with the first part which I played, it also sports a mature story (themes like nationalism, hardships, discrimination, death & sacrifice but also love, brotherhood, patriotism etc), with a few traditional anime quirks (it doesn't take away from the overall atmosphere). The characters are memorable and graphics have this beautiful watercolor filter.

This one is a must!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

To tell you the truth I never was a fan of the franchise, nor was super interested in the newest game. My whole expierience with the franchise practically comes down to a 3DS demo (which I actually enjoyed).

But I watched todays Nintendo Direct and I must say it bought me. I mean the game is the "ultimate" homeage to not only Nintendo as a whole, but with each iteration it's "absorbing" more third party franchises. The biggest reveal this time was Castlevania related: two new classic characters plus a really neat battleground that comes with a lot of monster cameos, which is cool on its own. Additionaly they revealed Rathalos from Monster Hunter franchise will appear as a boss/assistant. Not to mention other cool cameos from all possible franchises.

So far the game sports like 103 levels (that can be customized so it's like 300+ levels), and around 900+ classic and remastered tracks from across many games. Plus an incredible amount of customization options: multiplayer house rules, customized tracklits, tournaments with AI, and additional battle modes.

I don't know if you can get a bigger bang for your buck then this...

EDIT: Plus, watching the reaction videos of the fanbase has become kinda a hobby of mine . They're hilarious, I don't remember seeing more expressive react videos before: D1 reacts to Snake (VOLUME WARNING ).

If Gamescom won't bring some unexpected news (like Wargroove being released in the next week etc ) I think I'll gonna pick a Divinity Original Sin 2 soon.

Always wanted to play it (though I'm a bit afraid of it's length) and I think the time is ripe with the incoming "Definitive" version patch (free download for PC players), which rehauls big chunks of the game.

Still got a month before Valkyria Chronicles 4.

The original trilogy has been remastered:

I highly recommend it! The devs did an absolutely beautiful work and they are being very supportive in terms of updates. Although one may think that it is worth just for the sake of nostalgia (since there are, obviously, more advanced games on the market), I think that once you get into the game, you'll feel that it has a charm of its own (that inefable ingredient that Heroes III also has ), which probably will lure you to spend a few hours grinding.

I'll make Bard's Tale 4 my first entry in the series, for now that's the plan. Though I appreciate the recommendation.

Also, Divinity Original Sin 2 is at least as good as its predecessor in my opinion, if not better. Maybe it doesn't quite tickle his pickle when it comes to Joonas'. Who knows, everyone has their own perception of things.

Damn Jimmy, dat Cyberpunk 2077 50-minute gameplay demo is nice!

Guess I'll need to buy a next gen console or a 1800$ worth of a rig to play it though...

EDIT: Bought Divinity Original Sin 2 for PC, but waiting to play due the "Enhanced version" patch dropping at 31st of August. Going for a full Reptilian team cus why the f* not? Jokes aside, want something different then generic Human/Dwarf/Elf team so maybe I'll pick Undead NPC's just to keep things interesting (an Undead Necromancer maybe, ha!).

I'm a bit afraid it could have too many 'comedy' or "wtf?' elements in it. I like when RPG's have a mature setting, without all those "blow off steam" moments. Well I don't dislike some brief change of tones (even Witcher 3 had them, like the "drunken adventures of Geralt"). But Larians staff look to me like those type of people who like a lot of strange humor in their games. We'll see. At the very least, the game looks really solid in the gameplay department, plus I really like the fact you can play as some unorthodox races, it's refreshing.

Too much streamlining and the armour system turned the gameplay focus to a dps-fest while making health stat mostly irrelevant and massively weakened crowd control gameplay. If you want any kind of effects you have to drop the enemy's armour which either requires a couple of chars to have attacked first or someone being very specialized in damage. This also means that you are better off going mostly/all magic or mostly/all might as half and half will spread your damage dealing potential for a good part of the game. And of course that lone wolf with 3 attacks per turn is most broken than ever The storyline pacing is all over the place, loading times are terrible, there are times when you struggle finding an encounter you can win and warfare is the only skill you will ever want with a might character whether archer, rogue or warrior.

But music, writing, companion backstories dialogues, cross-skill system and quest resolution are excellent. I heard that the new version changed pacing for the better and had some other good additions but the changelog didn't change my mind. All the same, I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it.

Well, I started playing a bit (the Definitive patch dropped yesterday actually) and so far it looks interesting enough (there's this new 'training deck' in which you can fool around a bit). The streamlined system is actually a good thing for me, as I don't want too deep of a system in my RPG's nowadays (yeah I know it's a strange approach in isometric RPG's which are historically very deep, but still). I'm past deep skill systems, I think the DOS2 offers enough variety as is. From what I read there are a lot of combinations for good and "OP" characters. I went with Conjurer as I always like Mages that "summon stuff". It so happens the class is also described by players as quite solid.

I didn't pick an Origin character I made my own. I heard Lone Wolf is OP, but I still like to have a full party so I choose "Pet Pal" as a talent (they say playing DOS2 without it is like discarding a big chunk of the game). I'll see but HC boards is actually the first place where I see lukewarm receptions of the game

PS: What I hate in myself is that I always tend to sway in the direction of picking the "recommended" things in games. Recommended builds, cus OP, recommended characters cus "cool story". I'm fighting with this approach in myself nowadays (and with success in some cases), try to play games "my own" way. Some time ago I was like "oh no, I missed this part of the game!". Nowadays I'm more like "I missed it, don't bother, it's more important to actually finish it". I only read a few "beginners guides" to at least know what the game is about, but I'm hoping to do the rest my own way.

EDIT: Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Supposedly some of the people behind this isometric RPG made HoMM5 and Etherlords. This would suggest their from Nival. Not that I'm waiting for this game, but the fact cought my interest. Plus it has kingdom building elements

Very simple. I found the game a chore to finish. If we didn't play co-op with my friend, I would not have finished it.

It feels a lot like Mass Effect Andromeda and Heroes 7. It's got these ideas and concepts but the end result leaves you cold.

Main problem is combat. Normal combat is really boring. Aside from a few creative solutions, only DPS really matters. Positioning doens't matter because you can't block enemies, everyone and everything has a teleport. Armour means spreading skills between physical and magical is 30% damage wasted. Armour also means CC skills become worthless because might as well kill the target since already half hitpoints.

Another huge problem is the equipment system. It has an MMO grind level gear system which means anything cool you find is immeaditely worthless the moment you find one level higher gear, no matter if it's damaged or crappy, still better than your old that's two levels below. If you DO find stuff that's great, it's because it's some levels above of normal...and you can't use it. Takes away all the fun in looting when you know everything ages in half-an-hour. There is one level 0 amulet that gives immunity to stuns though so if lone-wolfing it's a must.

So what made the first one great(creative combat), is now gone and the other parts of the game didn't improve enough to make up for it. Story is still meh, other side character story/quest lines are still meh. Party characters do actually have half-decent stories(huzzah!) Puzzles are few and generally not very interesting.

There's also plenty of stupid balancing things like warfare giving more damage than anything else in the game so you just max that for anyone using physical skills. Also tons of bugs but hopefully all of that is fixed by now.
