Yeah, I see what you mean there. The 'armor' system is simply stupid. I also see the game has a tendency for letting you exploit some mechanics, thus there's something called 'builds'. But it's too much of a chore to learn all the quirks. Also I dislike it when a game punishes you for wrong choices (though supposedly you can rellocate skillpoints later in the game). Combat itself tends to be chaotic, and the AP system is frustrating: you start most battles with your teammates cramped up, and you don't even have a chance to relocate them before your opponents start to throw area dmg spells at them, and it's so expensive to move around. Yeah I know there are ways to cheese battles, like positioning your teammates before the battle itself, but moving around the battlefield in a tactical game shouldn't be this tedious (seriously, they really want you to get that "grow wings" Polymorph skill?). I also hate the fact that each of your teammates barters individually so you need to move around stuff in inventories to see your total profit. And the fact that many dialouges with NPC's can end up cutting out any further interactions with them simply cus you choose the wrong quote (and not an even particulary offensive one) is pretty lame.

I'm starting to think it's not the type of game for me, but it's too late to go back now. BUT. Since I only started I'm still giving it a chance. Maybe the more I'll play it the more it will start to "unravel"? Ultimately maybe I'll come to like it more, it's not that I'm not enjoying some of its aspects.

EDIT: Got my s*it together around the combat system, and I'm actually starting to feel it. A few good items here and there, a bit of restorative spells: running around the island with Teleporter Gloves gave me some decent loot, and I can even sneak in to Magister quaters now and rob the suckers. I still think it's unfair that most enemies spam area dmg spells which additionally leave things like pool of poison, which constantly presses you to move around, loosing AP. I started to make preparations before bigger battles like sneaking and repositioning to better spots (Teleporter Gloves also come in handy), which in turn makes battles a bit easier. And I at least now have some decent armor on me and my teammates so they can whistand more (Red Prince as a Fighter is finally starting to be meaningful).

PS: I need to stop spamming posts about this game. I'll try to finish it and then I'll give my final verdict, but so far so good.

Oh yeah, armour transform the combat completely. The start fights are not representative of the game in general because no one has any armour to speak of(especially your party.)

Shields are pretty damn OP for that exact reason. Back in the first patches I played a shield could give more armour(both magic and physical) as all other gear put together.

Yeah, but the problem is most "cool" items are two handed. I use a shield on my Summoner (an Epic called 'The Barricade'), but otherwise it's all about two-handed things: crossbows, staffs and hammers.

So far I'm enjoying the game, finally my party can stand for itself. For me the difficulty level is just right: fights aren't exactly a breeze, but are not impossible either (the harder ones simply need some experimenting with how to approach them).

The story itself is all over the place. I recognize the fact that the first island is literally a madmans playground, but not all things click the way they should imo. And even though the game is said to be nearly perfect by reviewers, there are a lot of inconsistencies, and I hoped for a bigger level of "who you are matters in conversations", other then some optional dialogues. I'm thinking that the problem with this game so far is that they focused more on the "sandbox" aspect rather then storytelling. Guess some people like this in the game, but for me this level of 'interaction' is confusing at times, instead of focusing on the story I'm afraid of missing something important that will have consequences in the future. Guess I'm this type of player...

---

Back to the thread: I'm actually pretty excited for Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar delivers on their promises, and there are a lot of "cool" promises for this game

Despite putting 700 hours into Civ 6 on PC, I'm going to get it on Switch.  I love the idea of being able to play the game on the go.

Call me interested: MTG Arena.

The animations look slick! I always enjoyed MTG digital games, but those were always lacking in the 'fireworks' departament. I mean, you don't exactly need graphics in a card game, gameplay is what's important. But MTG just begs for cool animations, so many neat monsters to choose from...

My pocket and my mood still cringes when I remember I bought that game. One of the greatest fiascos of that year.

And I'm waiting for Resident Evil 2 remake. Alongside Ori, these are the only 2 games I'm actually looking for.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is actually a decent experience. Well, I think I'm close to finishing it (a couple of quests in Arx plus final battle), clocked in around 80 hours, but correct it to 110+ because of all the saves reloading in order to change battle tactics etc, lol . It's very fun on the gameplay side, you really feel like there's no bad configuration for your party (or at least I'm satisfied with the one I have) and battles are varied. Storywise It's too goofy at times, but most importantly the story didn't engage me that much, like yo uguys said it's all over the place. It has its moments but overall I don't feel this setting.

The "worst" moment this year is upon me: RDR2, Valkyria Chronicles 4 (which I didn't even touch yet), TW: Warhammer II pirate DLC, occasional Forza Horizon 4 (this one can be at least played in short sessions) all at practically the same time... my greed astounds me :/ Oh yeah, did I mention Blizzcon (new content for games) or Steam Sale?

I'm eyeing for Divinity Original Sin 2. But probably won't have it soon. I'm still at 1 and haven't played even half of the game. If I remember correctly I got stuck somewhere in the first phase of the game. Good to know DOS 2 is also good!

As a big fan of all things Cthulhu and tactic games, I plan to get it but I'm holding out for the Switch version.

Also, oddly enough, I forgot to preorder Smash Ultimate.  I remedied that error yesterday.

Yes, finally: Warcraft 3 Remaster!

Looks sick! It's not Warcraft IV, but for now I'm content. Will grab it for sure.

Other then that Blizzcon opening ceremony sucked. Big time. Zero exciting content for existing games. HotS gets an original hero which is meh, Heartshtone an expansion which was already leaked, WoW builds upon existing content and Overwatch another generic shooter hero. Stacraft didn't get anything (there were some rumors of Alarak mission packs which would be cool). And a Mobile Diablo game which is actually Diablo III :/ (hey they made a port for Switch already, why not use it for mobile devices?). I'm starting to really understand why people are accusing them of only cutting off coupons...

Wacraft III reforged is this years edition only saving grace... I didn't expect much but this was really, really weak.

Hard pass.  Blizzard inability to produce anything original (other than Diablo somewhat) is pathetic.

Well, look on a possible bright side: if the responses of the general public are mostly like yours, they are bound to notice? Perhaps they start going into new Waters.

Warcraft 2 was the only Warcraft I really got into. When 3 was released, the whole 3D-like feeling just pushed me away. It looked so ... wrong. ^^

I liked Warcraft III. Sorry to the Warcraft II fans but for me III had better graphics!

What I didn't like that got 3Ded was Starcraft. Turned me off when I saw the 3D version.

Well, I respect Warcarft II, it's an incredible game, but it's a retro game for me: it's impossible to recreate that specific atmosphere today imo. I played it also, but it's too different compared to the "standards" which W3 accustomed me to. Warcraft III came in my best gaming years. When I truly enjoyed games. I enjoyed every single part of W3. It's graphics, its campaign, the characters, the moments, the music, the variety of it's models and settings, the sheer power of its map editor. The ingenious mini-rpg style Hero system. And there's simply such a huge nostalgic factor here. Thing is, it's a 3D game so it can be recreated with better graphics. I don't know how much of an expierience this will be today, but I won't pass this.

Why impossible? Is only a matter of vision and will. With today's computers would look absolutely mindblowing.

I think I agree with blob2 here. I myself don't really enjoy the games I played in the past like how I enjoyed them before. There's a lot of factor that affects it, at least on my part. When I try to play them again, feels really different. It's either I get bored 'coz I already knew the game, how to beat the game or I don't feel competetive anymore as I was in my young age.
