Heroes of the Storm seems mediocre to me, actually. I mean, there's barely any competitive aspects in it from what I've seen and heard, which I'm more interested in regarding MOBAs/ARTSs/whatever its called. But that's just my opinion !

Games I'm looking forward to... well, I'd like a new Heroes game considering the last one was not my cup of tea. I'd also like a Warcraft 4... But neither of these are even announced, or are likely to be released within the coming years

But HotS have different maps (with new coming thanks to the Map Editor), plus 20 minute games...I don't if it will be competitive or not, but looks different than DotA/LoL from what I heard.

Also, controlling Tassadar again. Nuff said!

Well, you can count Heroes of the Storm like a new Warcraft... sorta. It has some Warcraft III based themes, Heroes, and a Stacraft II like graphics.

Though I'm afraid that HotS will slow down plans (if any) for Warcraft IV.

I wonder if they will make those Warcraft I-III HD remakes, that would be nice...

Considering that just about every game designed as an e-sport has fallen flat on its face (with Starcraft 2 and DOTA2 being the only notable exceptions - notice the 2s?), I'd count that as a good thing.

Well, they have stated that they are not pushing Heroes of the Storm to be competitive, eSport game, but more casual friendly.

To be honest, I was laughing at "Blizzard DotA" concept, as I am huge DotA fan, played it for 6 years until I switched to DotA 2(and occasionally, I still play DotA 1 with friends), so it can be said that I am DotA fanatic, but when I saw the screenshots and a bit of the gameplay of Heroes of the Storm, I realized that it won't be anything like DotA, HoN or LoL, and that it actually can be quite fun to play with friends, screwing around etc. when you want to take a break from competitive gaming.

Other than that, I am looking forward to next expansion of Duel of Champions, The Five Towers, then Age of Wonders III, and finally, Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void.

Maybe, but my Hype for the game begins from the moment they show us at least Alpha footage. I mean, I know that majority of the things from Alpha won't even make it to the game, but I like to see the ideas and their thinking process.

And to be honest, with playing DotA 2 almost every day, waiting for Duel of Champions expansions, and will waste hours and hours on Age of Wonders III(which should be released in Q1 of 2014), while also watching big SC2 tournaments, I have more than enough things that will make me occupied until LotV is released.

And that is why I said "finally", I know that it will be last to be released. We might as well get 3-4 more expansions for Duel of Champions.

Starcraft 2 is almost dying slowly They better hurry up with the expansion. Not that there'd be a problem once the game releases, but the interest rly goes down if we have to wait 2 more years... for me at least. But I'm bronze scum so you can disregard this post

But yea I play dota 2 every day as well. It's kinda silly how entertaining it is, every single match is a whole other experience The community really can suck at times though. Depends if you're winning or losing...

Community always was the worst in these kind of games(oh and in World of Warcraft PvP). HoN was the worst if you ever played it, you would know. That is why I am against introduction of rating that can be seen by everybody, because most of the players will just keep bragging about it, or how you are low-rating scrub or something like that.

And I usually don't have the problem in DotA with my teammates because I often play with 4 of them, or at least 3. That is one of the reasons I stopped playing solo queue in these games. But I still have anger management problems.

Every online game has a life cycle - every online game dies eventually. IMHO, for something that was just a repaint of the old game with new units (using a lot of the old), SC2 was a spectacular success that didn't deserve half the spotlight it got. Not because it was a bad game, but because it was a Starcraft 1 with better graphics.

StarCraft 2 is not a repaint of StarCraft 1, by a large margin it isn't.
The mechanics, ai, pathing, counter types, resource mining, speed of the game, etc... are different (totally different in some aspects).

They are very different games.

What he is really trying to say here is that StarCraft 2 sucks compared to the first one too much to be the same game.

Still, it carries a lot of the same archaic issues that the first StarCraft did.

I think they should've made the game either a complete copy, or even more changes. If they would've made it more Brood War-ish, I think the game would've been even more popular. And if they would've made the game ... "more different", they would've gotten more players, but attracted a different audience I think

They could've done lots of things better regarding SC2

Well, it's clear to me that it's impossible to make a "better" Starcraft sequel. Why? Original Starcraft is a one of the founding stones of E-Sports. That + nostalgia effect + too much hype made Starcraft II a disappointment for some. The devs said that with SC II what they are trying too achieve is basically Stacraft in new coat, plus some original ideas, but they knew it was next to impossible to make a perfect sequel. By that I mean a sequel that would be like "Original Stacrft is crab, the cool kids play Starcraft II now!" kinda perfect.

I found SC II top-notch, it's the kind of a Blizzard game with maximum artistic/production value that you expect from them. It's like with Heroes III. Even if they make a great sequel of the game, it will always stay in my heart as the best in the series. And I think many players have sth like that with Original Starcraft... and whatever the devs will do with next installments, some fans will never acknowledge them fully...

I think that SC2 is great game, it is just that people have very high standards. And that is coming from the guy who thinks that SC1 was one of the best games ever.

Hardly, heroes 3 is by no means the best in the series. I prefer both H2 and H5 ToE over it easily.

StarCraft 2 looks good to the surface but as you play it you encounter frustrating issues all over.
That's not to say that the first StarCraft wasn't plagued by countless frustrating issues itself, it's just that StarCraft 2 resolved only very few of the original issues while actually introducing more...
Now the problem is that back in StarCraft one times, those issues could be overlooked. In modern times StarCraft 2 issues are simply not acceptable. Blizzard should have just dropped the mac support and spent that time on developing proper game mechanics.

C&C3, Supreme Commander, StarCraft:Broodwar, Age of Empires, Age of Kings... they all beat StarCraft 2 when it comes to competetive RTS game mechanics and they're all games I rather beat my friends' in. Of course I'm' too good in all of them, except AoK(due to those goddamn town centers) that they refuse to play against me so I stick to StarCraft 2 and wasting 100 apm on resolving all the issues I have to micro around to get to play like I want. It's telling enough that I have to hit 180 apm to be able to play Zerg somewhat decently in StarCraft 2 while with Protoss/Terran I can get by with a 150 average.

I also consider SC2 a great game. For some reason I've been spending the last two years watching dozens of hours of competitive StarCraft each week, right?

Just SC1 was near perfection, and if you compare some aspects with SC2 you start crying

Well, maybe I didn't mention it but I'm not a fan of competitive play (never was) so Starcraft 2 multi does not interest me. I only played it for a short time, I had this short phase for watching matches, but I got bored relatively quick and moved onto another game. As such I take SC II as a singleplayer experience. I really like the universe, the lore, the artistic design of the game. Heart of the Swarm, which highlights the Zerg race, was the best campaign for me in the whole franchise.

BTW, can you guys tell me what exactly is wrong with the game for you? I'm asking out of curiosity. I've read somewhere that one of the worst things is that they change balancing too often (and too much) which messes player strategies. Am I right?

I'm also waiting for "the Void". I'm not that big of a Protoss fan, but I would like to see the whole SC II stories wrap-up and ending...
