the first season of breaking bad is a little bland, imo. you have to keep watching. from there, it starts taking off. season one, i think, is merely an intro into the series(like a pilot episode that lasts a whole season).

funny, how i never saw the dad from "malcolm-in-the-middle" as doing serious acting; but damn, the guy is snowing good.

Guys, just because it's digital, it's not free, because a lot of people worked professionally on it to make it possible, and these guys and gals want to eat and drink sh!t and live in a mansion.

So pay the hell up for the things giving you a hardon for frack's sake!

I think season 2 of Breaking Bad was the one I liked the less, but from 3 and onwards it's just brilliant.

Been a while now, I followed this when it was airing, maybe a rewatch could be good, when I get the time.

Not paying a 30 quid a month for sky subscription just to watch one show that comes around for several weeks in a year and I'm leashed to a contract for 12months as a student renting. It's simply not accessible and you'd have to have a severe mental handicap to even consider forking out the money for it here (idk how easy it is to watch TWD or GoT in the US, but here it's only through sky as far as I know).

And to top it off at best both shows are just 'meh'.

Why do you even watch them, if they are just 'meh'? Doesn't make sense. Disagreeing with the price of something is no excuse for getting it illegally, just because it's low-risk and quite easy to do. It's like fare-dodging.

just watched the latest episode of south park. made me laugh(3 parts in particular), but i felt it was too rushed. i keep looking for an end to the running gag, and i keep forgetting that this isn't a 3-part episode, but the whole season is the same theme. they're tying everything together this season.

So, after the transfer to Netflix, Black Mirror is not what it used to be. Season 3 feels simplified, everything is explained or shown to the audience with a bolder underline. In most episodes, things still take place in the UK but somehow the show feels more American now.

It's still better than most of the shows out there but the capturing originality is nerfed. On the bright side, we now have 6 episodes per season instead of 3.

Just gonna throw my two cents about Breaking Bad:
Season 1: Fine
Season 2: Good
Season 3: Boring
Season 4: best Tv-series ever
Season 5: Incredible but just an inch worse then season 4.

TWD is painful bad atm.. I have lost all motivation for the show. It just isn't fresh anymore. It is boring and repetive. There are no surprices left. It is just meeeh.

Because I choose to, just because the shows are mediocre doesn't mean that I can't devote time to them, they're consistently meh with a few decent episodes, that and I got hooked on the original idea is plenty enough for me to either follow the show or just watch in bulk some time after (stopped watching TWD at season 3 and caught up in a few days).

And you're wrong, it's easy to do and serves my needs amicably, so it is perfectly valid. If you want to be regulated by some bizzare morals that's your own thing, but don't preach that bs to me plz. That goes for fare dodging too, if I have a comfortable amount of time to get to a place I go around midnight and free fare. I do not see the need to pay for a service that I do not have to, you'd have to be an utter tool to.

- Back on topic -

Been watching Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, it's got its fun moments if you want some low-class British homour it definately has its moments.

In that case you are a parasite - someone HAS TO pay for the things you chose to use, but don't pay for. It's unsocial behavior, and to be proud of it means, pissing the rest of society in the face.

What is even worse - you spoil it for the rest. People like YOU are the reason for things like copy-protection, ticket controls and generally a higher level of mutual distrust, greed and social degradation - and of course higher prices for stuff as well, because people who deliver those services will have to be paid - otherwise there were no services.

Maybe you should ask yourself this: with your attitude, why would ANYONE - school mates or study colleagues, say - trust you in any way? An easy opportunity, and you'll screw them over, is what your attitude suggests, because where is the difference between society as a whole and a couple of individuals?

With that attitude you are a liability for society, and the immediate consequence is, that I will ignore you as an irresponsible social parasite without the ability to figure that there wouldn't be any society or even progress if not even everyone, but only enough people were like you.

Look, I'm not saying it's "the right thing to do" but we all know there is a significant difference between stealing from your friend's wallet and downloading an mp3 track.

Not everything is available or reasonably priced worldwide and besides, for years, the market estimates the leeches while balancing the budget and in the long run, they help spread the merchandise and cause more people to buy. Look at it, the internet and the availability of everything should have shrunk the market but more shows are produced with bigger budgets than ever. Sometimes a single episode costs more than an all-star big production from the 80's.

Do you legally own all the songs you share in the music thread using Youtube? They are also illegally uploaded.

To answer your last question, a lot of the music videos people do share were unavailable in my country, but the GEMA and Google reached an agreement for Germany a few weeks ago, and now Google pays Gema for each click.
And nothing you say changes anything about the fact that those who DO legally buy digital entertainment pay for those who do it illegally while everyone has to endure the blessings of being harrassed by an ever-increasing amount of adverstisement because of it - and the cost for those are also reflected in the cost of products that are advertised for.

Which should be obvious, because eventually SOMEONE has to pay for this.

There is another aspect here and that's the fact that you don't have the time to watch/listen/play it ALL, so you have to pick anyway. Picking by thinking carefully about what will warrant an expenditure of your money, is still a vaulable lesson to learn, because the really important things in life still work that way, that you can't just get/do everything, but have to decide for something.

Lastly - you can of course make everything available to everyone, whether it's public transport or digital entertainment, but in that case the way to do it in our society is the introduction of a tax (it's basically what GEMA is doing in Germany). Or call it "flatrate".

And as a last thought, the notion that the size of the wallet makes it ok to steal from it or not IS EXACTLY what is the unsocial thing here. Because the decision whether something is ok or not - and I remember a similar discussion about human rights - is based on whether you can afford it to everyone (in theory) or not, which is what equality and equal rights (as opposed to privilege) actually means.

On an ironical note, I bought all CD's Stargate and StarGate Atlantis (200 CD) but they are so pathetically organized -no way to know which CD holds which season or episode, some are empty or contain advertising for other shows, no manual or notice, that I found myself, after a few and tedious attempts, to pick from streaming again.

But at least that is legal.

I don't care much about whether something is legal or illegal, but more about WHY something is legal or illegal and the motives of following the law or not, and I don't claim to have universal or objective standards here - they are entirely subjective.

For example - there are countries in which the law is - from MY point of view - silly. For example, when it comes to the rights of gays or women and so on. So I have no problem with "illegal gay actions" or women doing things they are not supposed to do.
In the case of "easy fraud" - tax evasion, fare dodging, streaming ... - while there is no IMMEDIATE damage, it's basically an abuse of the fact that the majority is paying up. The collective damage is basically divided and those who pay, pay also for those who don't.

You can make the point that society is responsible for allowing relative poverty on one hand, but fueling the need and greed of everyone for everything in the frantic necessity to SELL STUFF on a global level, and that also means I can accept a certain amount of grey area, but what I don't like is people being somewhat proud of it. "You are fools because you pay" is akin to biting the hand that feeds you, and that's something I'm not prepared to tolerate.

That is especially true when you consider that things have changed for the worse in this age, when it comes to music, especially. digital formats, especially mp3 suck in quality, for example. And ticket prices have skyrocketed so much, that watching a live gig has become a privilege you cannot afford anymore on a regular basis, because it's become so awfully expensive. (Things have turned around - now recorded music is promo for live concerts, while those used to be the promo for the recorded mucic earlier.)

So for me, there are some aspects of the business that suck.

TV goes the same way, mind you. The old companies need a TV audience, because they get advertisement money based on the number of viewers. The competition has grabbed them by the balls, because making a whole season immediately available via streaming is a lot more "watcher-friendly", so the market will undergo a lot of changes now.

STILL. Someone must pay for the entertainment, otherwise you don't have entertainers.
