Doctor Who provided one single good episode this year. Granted, the climax of the season's still to come, but after no Doctor Who last year, this year's shaping up to be a HUGE disappointment.

Rick and Morty was fun as always, but nobody knows when it'll be next on.

Somewhat looking forward to GoT, at least it'll have sex and violence

Haven't seen third season yet, how is it doing in comparison to previous ones? I have VERY mixed feelings with this series.

Well I'll probably end up watching it anyway.

MOD EDIT: Please do not bypass the language filters. This is against the forum rules.
Those filters could use some actualization. The other day I needed to say to Erathianer that I had to walk my female dog before restarting the tests. I used the proper name. Guess what happened.
I had send another message explaining the first one.

I remember watching Westworld. In the upper 1/4 in my book. Very decent.

Now watching The 100. Tho starting from below average on my scale, and openly targeting teen audience, which is not a good thing to me, by the end of the 2nd season it became one of those I could recommend.

I watched Genius, life of Einstein in ten episodes. To make a series about Einstein called Genius and not to fall into cliches is quite hard, and they do eventually, they even have the evreka evreka moment with the light bulb! But overall, the series keep you interested enough and production values and the cast is above average.

Agree. The 100 takes awhile to find its place, but it gets really interesting.

If anybody else hasn't seen it btw, 3% is awesome.

Gotta watch it in Portuguese with subtitles of course. 3 minutes of dubs and I wanted to die.

I watch it while I exercise. It's got some interesting elements but way too many internal inconsistencies and problems with its premise to take too seriously.

What's wrong with the premise? You mean the make-believe science of how radiation works?

Tip of the iceberg, but yes it's a big tip.

Don't get me wrong, it's a highly watchable show and probably better than 99% of what the primary networks are producing these days. (Compared to, for example, Falling Skies...) In particular, the ground-level-writing is overall pretty good and I applaud the show for some brave plot twists I honestly didn't see coming. But the show still requires an enormous helping of belief suspension when it comes to the underlying science, the character dynamics, and the world building, much of which, if you think too hard, don't make a lick of sense. In the end that is an appropriate design choice, as the show (and presumably the source material) is basically engineered to be compelling to a late teenage audience. But if you are looking for really challenging, compelling, or rigorous Science Fiction, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Well, that's the thing exactly. I've stopped watching Falling Skies after a couple of episodes - it's really, really bad. I've watched the first season of The 100, and science doesn't feature until that point, but what I like is that there are bold plot twists.

Not entirely connected - a lot of shows today are like a comic, which is normal when they ARE a comic, but it's true for shows as well, that are not comics. And, man I happened to watch Iron Man 2 in a hotel a couple of weeks ago - what a load of utter crap.

Anyway, I*m currently watching (and am nearing the end of) the first and only season of The Event, which is absolutely awesome in comparison to stuff like Falling Skies and pretty frakking good with a view on The 100, when it comes to watching a SciFi show. Thing is, it seems the show was to complex for the public, ha ha.

You may also like The Expanse (currently watching the 2nd season). Not a bad sci-fi show. I like it for its decent visuals rather than for its plot and characters.

To repeat myself, the best (by far) sci-fi show recently is Black Mirror. It's not just good as TV entertainment but a lot of episodes really question how change in technology would affect culture in an intellectual manner. Most of such episodes are near-future settings, naturally. And this setting is when Sci-fi is most distanced to fantasy adventure and most closer to social criticism.

Somehow I survived until the beginning of season 3 of Falling Skies before I couldn't take it anymore. I really, really wanted to know more about the aliens but I couldn't stand the actors and the directing anymore.

TNT is the network that ran Babylon 5 in the 90s, which was soooo good.

The Sci Fi channel doesn't attract talent anymore either, for whatever reason. They've run too many crappy documentaries about UFO encounters and pyramids that they've probably been given a bad brand.

I watched 2 seasons (6 episodes actually) of Black Mirror. The first episode was shocking, though.

Black Mirror is cool, but doesn't count as a show for me. It's like Twilight Zone - and way too short.

The aliens in Falling Skies ... well. You can guess from the onset, that if this thing is supposed to end well for the humans, the aliens will have to have a weakness and that weakness will have to be exploited. Examples are Star Wars and Independence Day. The only question from episode 3 on has been, how dumb a weakness would it be and how dumb would the aliens have to act in the end...
