Yeah, I know it follows the book. But last episode was just too horrible for my taste, lost interest for more.

I liked the Starks too Sal, not enough to quit on the show though. That blonde dragon lady better arrive soon because now the Lannisters have no worthy opponent.

oh salamandre should just get over himself and stop being so *shocked* and *perturbted*
like, i hate violence and bloodshed more than the next person, and i felt SICK watching the Red Wedding... but that is also what I was supposed to feel? The RW is the most sickly, disgusting thing in the entire series so OF COURSE it has to be portrayed that way.
Any less violent would be a downgrade to please viewers and they weren't willing to compromise on that. Bonus points from this one.
as I said, I HATE Catelyn and Talisa so i'm glad they got chopped (literally) and while i liked Robb he wasn't *that* interesting either. Thank god it happened to the Starks and the Tullies and not a family i actually cared about, like the Lannisters or the Tyrells.

Did I offend your diminished brain so you bring again personal issues? Holy Pock! I just gave my opinion, there are 50 series worth to watch, let the others express.

personal issues? what are you talking about?
Might i point out that you're the one bawling and hollering and being like "this is TOO MUCH! NO. MORE THEY HAVE ~LOST~ ME AS A *VIEWER*. "
like, as i said (and most sane people would say): just get over it?

Best characters in the book for me are Lannisters as well: Tyrion and Jaime.
Dragon Lady is fun as well-
The interesting Starks are on their own anyway: Arya; Jon Snow; Bran;
And, hey. with Catelyn the fun really starts after the Red Wedding as well.

Yes, Arya is the most interesting and the butchered ones were not the deepest or most interesting of characters. But the thing is, I liked the Starks family as an opposing force against the Lannisters, the fight between the Lion and the Wolf. With Arya, Jon and Bran, I dont see that keeping on. They can only be supportive of other major enemies yet not replace Robb Stark.

The Lannisters destroying themselves is way more interesting than the Starks doing it. IMO.

Joffrey vs Tyrion, Tywin vs Tyrion and Cersei vs Margaery are still a thing.
Stannis is also still alive, as are the Ironborn.
there's enough anti-Lannister opposition, both externally and internally.

Well, with everything going on watching the latest episode of Mad Men was weird since in the show they were all watching protesters getting beaten by the police in the sixties. It was like, hey we've all ben there!

Currently re-watching the Sharpe series, greatly enjoying it thus far, not sure who the Scots are wearing blue, one would think an Englishman would have great difficulty distinguishing friend from foe, then again one with a personal grudge might regard both Scott and French to be foes.

I checked out the first episode and the second one. It wasn't a fiasco, I kept downloading the rest of the episodes as they got out but didn't watch them instantly. Let this show just rest on my hard disk for now, I'll go at all episodes at once on a weekend when I'm absolutely bored.
So you can say it didn't capture my interest rapidly but it was adequate enough to keep in the archive. I think the industry overdid (is overdoing) Hannibal Lecter and yes, the novel was just okay, it was Anthony Hopkins' acting who turned the character into a pop icon to milk all the way.
