The problem with Terra Nova was, you know how some American shows are based on the nucleus family, overcoming everything with their family values and meanwhile having their sweet little daily quarrels... Well, almost every subplot is based on those cliches and they completely overdid it. They are beamed into some prehistoric wild jungle with hostile strangers and what preoccupies "dad" most is her teenage daughter's dating problems etc etc...

Not sure if this thread incorporates sitcoms, of which my personal favorite is the Blackadder collection. Not sure how popular the series was/is outside of the UK, but anyway go an watch it, comedy gold imho. If you're new to it then I'd avoid the first 'set of episodes'/season, and leave it for last, or once you're more acquainted. It's good, but the protagonist is an utter moron, that may be hard to enjoy at first for some, and not the best first impression. (While the others have strong starts)
I also watched Hung, a while back (3 years ago) when I had some free time and stayed up late for the American shows. I recall enjoying it but never could find the show again (forgot the name) and I kept thinking that the main character is Christopher Lambert.

Dexter, Final Season: if it weren't for the last 2 minutes, I'd have been merely annoyed. But as it is, I think I might actually be angry that I wasted so much time.

yeah. it was clear that in the last season, they were grabbing at straws, and had no gameplan whatsoever. the last 2 minutes were garbage. nobody could have survived that. they just pandered to the audience, as a way to make up for how ****ty the last season was, imo.
if you haven't watched the "hannibal" series yet, i would highly recommend that. makes the writing in dexter looks like ****, by comparison.

Dexter was and still is one of the best shows and last season was great also alongside with 4th and 2nd season

You must have watched a different final season than I did. I haven't seen so many plot holes since Dexter Season 7.

Just finished From dusk till dawn on Netflix. It's a pretty decent series of unfortunately only one season. The only thing I did not like were the snake vampires. I mean, snakes don't suck blood, so why would these monsters do?  Also, one of them apparently had no problem with the sun, while it was quite deadly for the rest of the monsters.

7th season of Dexter was very good as well, I think the best seasons were 2,4, 7 and 8th

Game of Thrones is a horribly bad sexist show. I quit watching after season 3.
The writer kills off all my favorite character and finds a way to spare female characters just because he doesn't have the balls to kill them (Kahleesi). I'm not hating on female characters, I'm just hating on the fact that the writer has female bias.
Up to season 3, the only main woman character that died is Robb Stark's mother while we have tons of main male character that died already. Even little boys, which is by the way painful to watch, won't get spared from the gore. We don't see little girls dying in fact, they initiate the violence on little boys.

So recently, Joonas recommended me to watch Defiance. a pretty good show actually, even though I had the time to watch the first episode. halfway through. yea. I'm a lazy arse. and easily distracted.
been watching South Park and American Dad in the meantime. I think Mcfarlane and co shoud drop family guy, and focus on American Dad, as it's making fun of yanks and their "agencies" rather well, as well as of american lifestyle. Although, you cant beat the randomness and WTF factor of South Park. Woodland Critter Christmas proves it.
Also been watching Robin of Sherwood, an eighties series, which you can find on youtube. pretty good take on the whole robin hood legend. for a TV series.

Defiance wasnt exactly bad but the whole this is an allegory of America and the aliens are the immigrants thing was kind of too blatant and overdone. I lost track of the show after watching it for 7 or 8 episodes.

i've been watching all of the earlier episodes of south park. i'm on season 1 now; i went backwards from the latest.

Yup, the first season of Defiance is pretty good as far as recent scifi/apocalyptic goes.
Still not sold on the second season.
