So, another season of Game of Thrones has passed. While it definately feels like it's no longer Martins story (I think he will weave the story of some characters in a different way and it doesn't have his attention to detail) it's main points will stay similiar in books (he said himself that at this point he will not go against the general fan theories just for the gist of it, and that the ending will be rather bittersweet then bad). Plus I can help but to enjoy the TV series, even if I can concur with some pleas that a couple of plot elements were hasty or not that well carried on.

That said it has to be the most epic fantasy movies/series after original LotR trilogy.

Game of Thrones is more of a political drama rahter than an actual fantasy epic.

Just sayin.

Watched point pleasant and loved it!

[A series of supernatural events begins in a small coastal New Jersey town after the arrival of a mysterious teenage girl, who apparently has the ability to influence the people and events around her.]

It sets a good mood, has good character interaction and story, some great lines of dialogue. Wasn't impressed by the first episode but I was quickly hooked and things kept getting more and more interesting. It is a real pity we didn't get a second season but it can stand on its own just fine.

A fantasy can be, at tha same time, also a political drama. They are not exclusive. Gulliver's Travels was directly political about 18th century issues but after centuries, it still works as a sore fantasy book even for children. Not that a fantasy work should be light about its subject anyway.

Come to think of it, maybe the army of the dead is an allegory for global warming, if they don't set aside their differences and work against it together, it's coming with the cold and screwing up all their kingdoms.

Well, an army of dead in GoT can be interpreted in various ways for instance as a wave of change. Like a political party (sometimes older, acriminious people that are deaf to reason) that wants to sweep away everything that was made before them in order to push their own agenda/goals.

BTW the whole Night King and undead armies reminds me a lot of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCr7y4SLhck (I'm probably not the first one to find this similiar).

Like some people were arguing in heroes forums, raising the dead doesn't make you evil by default Vote for night king, wave of change!

Well, he doesnt only raise the dead, the raised dead, then attack any living and turn them into mindless zombies like themselves. IF anything is evil, that is it.

I was quite skeptical about the third season of Narcos, having yet another season after Escobar died could have been milking the cash cow but no, it was a season even better than the second one. (First season is still the best.) The story of the Cali Cartel was just as interesting. Maybe the only problem was, they sometimes took "the dramatic effect" license too far, which harmed the -obviously intented- realistic feeling of the show, too many people getting saved at the last moment, you know, the action move cliche where had they entered the room a second later, it would have been too late kind of scenes.

Budget. 45 minutes of Jerry Springer is a lot cheaper than 45 minutes of LotR.

Actually books are the same. It's a political thriller with a side of fantasy.
And GoT has a pretty large budget, if we look at the last 2 seasons.

I think it was because season 2 is such a killer that season 3 can't totally live up to it. I still liked it a looot. My favorite episode of the season is probably Tales from the Citadel.

Season 3 finale was kinda meh, I think that should've been switched with the 7th episode (The Ricklantis Mixup, aka Tales from The Citadel)
for a much bigger impact and a much, much bigger nerdgasm.
