This younger generation is kinder and more decent as a result of this old Nickelodeon masterpiece, now available on Netflix.  Seriously, the kids are all right and we have Avatar:  The Last Airbender to thank.

Finally watched the Kominsky Method, well written, well acted, really funny show.

Although, I think I’m still a little young to “really get it.” I’m sure JJ will greatly enjoy the show.

Mikey has first-hand experience with some bad crap, though, and Alan Arkin isn't much younger than Captain Kirk.

Yeah, it's been a good series. Particularly after Amazon took over and the special effects budget hasn't been so thin. I'd read the books first, though. They're much better.

Yeah, read them already, and most of the novellas. Last book might come around in the next semester. But they already said the TV series will go only to 6th. So, the timeskip from 6th to 7th book might not appear.

People are speculating what will happen, because the real development of what's happening now will only appear on 7th.

Ok, so let's get things straight: Mandalorian is the tv series SW fans deserved.

Yeah it's not either groundbreaking nor exceptional. It's simply a well realised, soaking wet in SW lore series, that is just fun to watch.

After the SW trilogy fiasco I thought I was done with the franchise but this actually made remember that SW can be enjoyable.

I only watched the first season, but damn, this is one of the most well relaized TV series I watched. And for a Disney series is actually not very invasive with either political correctness nor cringe and pathos. It is barebones, western-like adventure that keeps you invested.

I don't know about 'groundbreaking' because you really can't say that until the series is concluded, but I would definitely consider The Mandalorian to be exceptional. Easily. The cast and the directing and the plot and pretty much everything is excellent. The worldbuilding is excellent. It's fast paced and that works for the show, which is rare for a series. The set design and immersion is excellent. The action is really good (they're pushing it when it comes to Stormtroopers being worthless cannon fodder that get obliterated by the heroes of the show, but whatever, I don't mind). Moth Gideon is a pretty compelling villain. The side characters Mando meets on his quests are really good too, like Frog Lady. The show reminds me of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign in space.

It's better than every Star Wars movie that has been released in my opinion, not counting the original trilogy. Taiki Waititi is the same guy who did Thor Ragnarok and he makes some good stuff.

I kind of thought the show was cool, until in the third episode or something, where you have the story of the warriors going into a small village harrassed by the bad guys, then they train the villagers and stand up to them together, it’s basically The Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven, Three Amigos (this is the parody version, so it’s ok) told once again, except the decor is SW universe. Enough is enough. I mean, I would have  click-watched it if it was on some platform I already subscribed to, but I wont bother tracking it down from the internet. Minion is right, there are shows that are actually written well and original. (And no, The Crown isnt boring if you’re not into royalty.) Take the new Bryan Cranston series, Your Honor for instance, I’m only at episode 2 but I can already tell it’s great storytelling, not some retold version of a worn out formula.

Well, you yourself know pretty well that the archetypic storytelling always works well. And this episode had two (or even three?) "reasons":
- it showed that the protagonist will always be on the run if he won't take action
- it introduced an ally to the protagonist (and very likeable one I must say)
- (optional) it was a nerdgasmic reference to a famous battle in one forest
I actually found that episode pretty fun and nostalgic, even with the overused "villagers with sticks beat the bad guys" cliche.

But that's the thing: the story is not deep nor unconventional. Like the original SW it is simply a very good down-to-earth action adventure. You saw yourself how the experiments with the formula ended: in one of the most hated sequels in movie history, even if the view counts do not reflect it. The strength of Mandalorian comes from the fact it's simply fun to watch even for a bystander, while for fans it's literally a dream come ture (especially after S2 I think). It has lore, chuckfull of references (heck, it even had one scene where the Stormtroopers had a casual conversation) and that bit of magic (maybe it's a bit more serious, but still captures the wonder of the universe). When it comes to SW I think Jon Favreau simply "gets it" becasue he's probably a director from the older generation, not some monstrous-egoed woke millenial who wants to present "his unique spin on a franchise".

PS: Btw seeing what the the director/producer duo did for the fans in S2... for that the deserve a medal. Didn't see so much happiness in the fandom for a long time (even if the fandom is one of the most toxic fandoms there is ).

@Corribus
I'll tell you what: having more paid service is unfortunate but seeing their releases plan I think Disney+ will have an even better offer soon so it's something to think about.

I just get a subscription, binge, and then cancel when I'm done. Mandalorian costs me about as much as a movie ticket. Less, actually. Also binged on some other stuff I wanted to see, like the live action Mulan.

When you browse through the service you realize just how many movies Disney has pumped out over the decades. A lot.

Needless to say I've been on a Star Wars kick with both shows and video games.

Watching Star Wars Legos and laughing hysterically almost the entire time. Yoda accidentally summons the force ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn to open a pickle jar.
