I want a damn castle simulator that isn't effing Stronghold.

Firefly seems so intent on making their series a poor warfare simulator where you have to rebuild your castle every 20 seconds due to the over 9000 enemy catapults constantly harassing your peaceful cozy castle.

It's ****ing easy.

- The focus is NOT the battles, it's about building a kingdom centered around your mighty personally designed castle and FEEL that you're a goddamn LORD and this is YOUR EFFING KINGDOM. **** YES.
- You have the only castle on YOUR map.
- Enemy castles are on OTHER maps, allies too. So you can even have these nifty Simcity like trade routes that go off the map, or a crusade trail if you feel like harassing someone far away or something.
- Now and then, enemies may attack your castle, this is announced WAY in advance (because there's a ****in army incoming and your messengers are at least somewhat competent, hopefully you didn't kill them all for bringing you bad news, you LORD you)
- If your castle is destroyed, there's a handy REBUILD button that restores your castle by using resources, no need to micromanage every little ****ing pebble in your wall. You can also save your goods systems (example uh... wheat into mill into bread or something, **** I dunno I'm not a baker, imma Lord) and rebuild them with the touch of a button, so your whole economy won't be ****ed just because a wolf ate your apple collector while you were busy digging a moat.
- Everything is scaled realistically, no effing half a castle wall tall villagers. Make it feel epic.
- Character portrait editor, kingdom banner editor, unit designer, personalize dat ****.

And no I don't want Stronghold Kingdoms. Screw that.

Well, my problem is that I don't think there really is "A" dream game.
There are a lot of them. You simply can't mix all of them.

But yeah, properly balanced and mapped C&C 3 is pretty snowing high on that list.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance Forever is already a dream game, that cooperative campaign and GALAXY WARS OMG, WORLD DOMINATION, IN TEAMS, AWESOME, really, it's world domination from cnc tib sun firestorm all over again and hallelujah! It rocks!

AoE:Rise of Rome has very, very few shortcomings and is a very, very good game.

...this list would be way too long. I better quit here before I can even finish that rts part and get to RPGs or pseudo-rpgs, not to mention FPS or fighting games...

But really, a RTS heroes would be pretty fricking cool. We have a thread about that

EDIT: A "realistic" fighter would be pretty good. Modern version of Virtual Fighter 3 TB would get all my monies.

I just use this thread for posting my game ideas

But yeah, Forged Alliance is one hell of a game. Such a mindblowing scale but with so many handy features to make it manageable.

Like the template feature, and the queue system. Genius.

Gas Powered went downhill.

When I started playing pokemon, I thought I'd collect some cool pokemons, make awesome tactics, and take part in the pokemon league, like in a manager game, except I'd tell the pokemon during the battle what to do.

Turned out there were no pokemon league, only elite 4, hence something that could have made the game interesting for many years, turned it into something that quickly became stale.

I gotta say I enjoyed the first time through, though, when everything was new. The same for diablo 2. I have recently felt like playing d2 again, but when I realize what it actually entitles, I lose interest right away. Even endless combinations are no good, when it's used on the same environment every time, the game has gone stale. The same goes for morrowind. I've also recently felt like making some pokemon battles using a sim I downloaded, and again it's the same problem. Which is strange, because endless pokemon battles was what I felt was missing before.

Simple, easy to go to, here and now, games, which evolves and are enjoyable are what I enjoy here and now, but it wasn't the case when I was 5, where I wanted to play a game to defeat the challenge. Now I can't stand it when there are large parts of games I dislike.

As such, the two games I enjoyed the most where a manager game and pokemon on gameboy, but not because it was the first time I played each, but because they tried to give me a cozy, comfortable, feeling when playing. Success was easy and the game wanted you to succeed, but not by being ridiculously obvious about it. Even these two games would go stall though, in one there was.. ironically no evolution as previously said, the other, because after X seasons, it was obviously more of the same.

I think a game like Morrowind could have all those things, but it's not a game that is very welcoming in the sense I don't think the actual gameplay is very creatively made. Apart from it being static (no matter how long you wait, D-Uhr will never finish his own quest of conquest), the game won't be a comfortable place even if that's what you want.

Forged Alliance Forever

So much new, awesome content.
And that galactic war, just have to love it. Gyle explains it pretty well here, even if the video is pretty old and from the very early alpha. Watch it.

Watching some awesome WW1 movies has made me want to play an awesome WW1 game, but the video game industry is dominated with WW2 stuff. The method of combat in WW1 was so fascinating.

RPG/RTS. Multiple campaigns (French, German, American, Austria-Hungary, etc.) You're the captain of a team of miners & engineers. Build underground tunnel systems to support men and dig underneath enemy lines to set explosives and sap enemy tunnels trying to do the same. Build bridges. Sap enemy farmhouses where machine guns are stationed. Build trenches and weave around to try to get the high ground. Install bunkers. You have some power to personally select your squad of men (similar to how it is in X-Com) and upgrade your men as they gain experience and better R&D equipment. You have to gauge multiple factors as you fight, such as morale, underground air quality, vision, noise level, the integrity of tunnels and structures, etc.

I'd be all over it.

anyone ever seen the movie "Brainscan"? yeah. that game.

just thought of another, similar to the game in "Brainscan": the "simulation training" in "Ender's Game". great book(read it in my teens), but haven't seen the movie yet.

either of those two would be great, because they simulate real life. i wonder if, after playing "brainscan" a couple of times, would the line between reality and fantasy start to disappear? would one become schizophrenic? it's very interesting to think about.

I would like to see a TBS game in which you play as actual dragons. No shape-shifting human heroes, no dragon mentors, no dragons as additional units, nor as evil beasts that must be slain. Instead you play as sentient dragons representing factions: for instance you have good-willed dragons like Silver/Gold/White etc and more aggressive ones like Red or Black. Of course other fantastic creatures could also be present in the game some being their allies some being enemies, but dragons would play the main role. There could also be other (maybe even playable) powerful factions like Vampires, Werewolves (but not feral, sentient and living in communities like in Werewolf Apocalypse for instance). Humans, Dwarves, Elves could also play a role in the game, but Dragons would be the centerpiece. The story would revolve around a Dragon War that spans the whole world, or Dragon factions (but with different outlooks) that decide to act because of an ever-growing threat of some kind: a demon invasion, an evil omnipotent warlock that wants to conquer the world or even an invasion from space (though I would prefer to keep it a generic fantasy game).

I really liked the concept in WII's Fire Emblem "Radiant" games. There were various shape-shifting races (like werecats or birdman), including dragons though they were also shape-shifters and played an episodic role in those games. But the concept of dragons having their own kingdom and interacting with other nations was really interesting.

my dream game is a life simulator. first of all, you have the ability to customize your character, the ability to customize his looks, some limited points to add to the following:
-Intelligence
-Health
-Strength
-Courage
-Evilness
-Kindness
-Agility
and you choose your speciality from these,
-choosing Evilness as speciality will have you play through a special scenario that makes you want revenge against those who harmed you, the hard time you spent living as a child and a crime life with you wanting other people to go through what YOU did cause they never understood your feelings.
-choosing Intelligence as specialty will render you the most intelligent in your school but it causes you to be bad in sports as much intelligent you are.
-choosing kindness as specialty will make you kind to people, and the favors you do won't be forgotten and will be returned, you also could be able to convince a criminal to abandon his crime life and live the life of a normal person and much more.
you live a shortened(so you don't spend all of your life playing this game)life of whom you selected. A.I parents, with some scenarios of possible trouble in childhood, this scenario is randomly selected.

when you reach a specific age random trouble will be thrown at you such as a bully forcing you to do something or your results not being enough to have a successful life.

when you finish studying you are able to choose from jobs that suit your speciality or anything you have high points at. being a police will make your life fun but dangerous, also i forgot a fact, like real life, if you die in this game, you have to start all over, from start to finish.

when you buy a house and your things go well, there is a random chance that a robber steals somethings from your house as well as a chance of police coming late with another chance of being murdered if you try to stop the robber without necessairy Strength/Intelligence. you can also have sons that continue something you are trying to do or defend you, and if you have enough money you can hire bodyguards.

if you are an important person/ a rich person you might be targeted by an assassin, through you are given the chance to run or hire bodyguards, maybe even fake your death or use someone that looks like you to fake your death.

you are able to gain reputation that can be positive or negative depending on what you did in your life and many more. the more positive reputation you have the more people trust you and vice versa.

you have the ability to adopt children and have their gratefulness from saving them for starving to death while thrown in the streets.

you have the ability to buy pets, and if you buy and raise a dog he might stop a robber from stealing things from your house or guard you basically, you can also train your dog for certain actions/activities.

the ability to do projects as a company owner.

this game contains multiplayer where you can have real people as your virtual friends/family or workers.

you even have the ability to make towns and become their mayor, you need to resolve some problems from the citizens through and spend much of the money you win, note that building a town will take much time, up to 10 years time limit. if you are a mayor you can give police and people under you orders, you might even try to get clues to catch a dangrous criminal and you can also get respect/hate from the people in the town you built.

*cracks knuckles*

A perfect* game by your's truly.
A single player with MP features, ultimate post apoc(a nuclear holocaust most likely) survival expirience, a FPS with a snowload of RPG features.
You can customise your character the way you want to the smallest detail. hell, you could even upload a pic of yourself for the game to model your char's face after it(Rainbow Six Vegas had it IIRC).
Open world with a snowload of areas to explore and loot.
There are various factions there, some joinable, some not (See Metro and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ) a metric snow ton of guns ranging from handymen made ones(again, see Metro) to real life ones. a load of customisation options is avaivable to them, ranging from optics, to laser sights, stocks and so on. same applies to clothing and equipment.
ABSOLUTELY NO snowING ZOMBIES! this cow is already milked dry. stop it. seriously.
An economy of some sort, wether using military grade ammo as money or trading crap for crap. or both. you can find sort of "valuables" in some areas. books, records, old whiskey/cognac and so on. traders would be either at a fixed bunker or roaming around on caravans
crafting. upon finding or trading blueprints you can make yourself guns, ammo, medicine and vehicles presuming you have the necessary tools, knowledge and materials.
Building! Like in Rust you can build crappy shacks, or to remake let's say an abandoned house into a suitable shelter, complete with a bed, storage, claymore mines around it and so on.
Mutants. there would be some mutants of course. mutated animals and so on. random attacks included. same as bandit raids.
some random areas have a degree in radiation of it so a hazmat suid ir required to wear. ruined cities which house more of valuable crap mutants and so on will have the highest concentration of them so walking around with no protection gear is suicidal.
you can only carry a limited supply of stuff in your pack(but not an annoyingly low level), you get hunger and so on.
you can learn various skills needed in crafting from the books you find. There'd be several disciplines for crafting various crap advancing them would enable to make better crap. duh.
of course some neutral NPC survivor communities would be present and serve like towns in your generic RPG.
A co-op mode, 'cause why the hell not.
A generic storyline turned into something awesome by skilled writers.

not exactly. idea is heavily based around Stalker games and Metro 2033 games and novels. the expirience is great in them, probably because the 'eastern bloc' has a little bit  of an expirience with nuclear disasters than yanks when it comes to a nuclear disaster. well, not counting Japanese on this. Nuking them was the only way that the yanks could've won against them.

bottle caps as currency is stupid imo. only yanks could come up with something like that. Glukhovski in his novels did it really well, portraying a sort of realistic society in his work, which is nice. Although I think he chose the 7.62 Soviet round as a staple currency. not really sure.

also from reading a book you'd wouldn't get a "skill up" like normaly. it'll be required to learn recipes instead, unlock new crafting options and so on.

More immersion and so on.

I'd really like an Elder Scrolls type of game...
But not the way they are done today,
As of now they are just a dungeon delving/combat first person RPG.
Instead they could use that lore they created, and expand upon the politics.
It's main points should be:
- Dungeons (DUH!)
- Combat (Even more DUH!)
- Property (And actually allowing the protagonist to own a shop, or  if he wants build a trading empire)
- Commerce (Isn't a little bit strange to find the same prices in all of the region?)
- A bad end (Unless you find someone worthy of partaking the main quest after some time the game should end)
- Logic (A great war has erupted, don't worry unless you start the quest we are safe)
- Immersion (Why should I care about what day it is? The shops are always open, also when do festivals occur)
- Politics (I mean, the kingdoms should do something about threats)
But of course this shouldn't be limited to the ES universe.
If some company decides to create a game like this it would be pretty epic.

Seriously though, I first encountered the original MB some time after I had talked with my brother about what my perfect game would be and one day he told me about a similar sounding game that his class was currently playing a cracked version of.
