Hellhounds are fine as they are (good magic defense too)! If they give them more defense they will need to give less offensive power and it's not the purpose of this unit. It's one of the most powerfull cores in the game, it's up to the player to deal with their weakness. People will consider them powerfull enough when they will face them in a full inferno army . Trying to focus fire vs them when the ravagers won't let them do that .

I do admit that, during the final fight of the first mission,a nice surprise if I might add, they were by far the greatest threat.

How do I access the fire doggies in the Inferno campaign if I chose the tear path? It says as a secondary quest that I must have Hell hounds join me but I can't click on them. I tried as blood and I had to battle but got access, but I'm going tears so anyone can help?

Maybe it's a stupid question, but if I chose for my hero the skill "archery I" which boosts ranged attacks for 6% - does this apply to the Succubus/Lilums too? (since their ranged is fire bolts (magic attack)) Or should I take the skill in that increases fire magic power?

Regarding the hellhounds, I use stoneskin on them to boost their defence, but they are still dying too fast. Any other suggestions on how to use them well?

Yes it does boost their ranged attacks. Donīt use the dogs until near the end of the map, or in certain situations.

I need some help on the first mission, any advice on how to beat Xana with Azkaal? I can't seem to win, the Cerberus hits very hard and so does the Lilim+Succubus combo.

Keep using the special abilities of Azzie each time they fill up (so some of the enemy units will attack each other) and keep teleporting away from the Cerberi instead of attacking in every round.

About the Hell Hound/Cerberus, for some reason the enemy always attacks it and I agree it should have the no retaliation ability. I wonder why they made no retaliation so scarce, are Light & Dark Elementals plus Glories the ONLY creatures with that ability? Even the Vampires and the many-armed creatures used to have it in the past.

I'm on the 3rd map now where I can recruit and upgrade every creature for the first time, but it seems the Breeder is embarrassingly weak. I know Tormentors and Juggernauts are amazing but still, when the Breeder first got revealed I thought it was to be a killer unit...

Both of Azkaal's normal attack and his spell are fire-based. So, make sure you spread his mark (+200% fire damage) to all foes. Then, use his spell attack in between marking the enemies. I use Azkaal's abilities in following order :
round 1 : marking Juggernaut, marking Cerberi,
round 2 : marking Lilim #1, fire spell,
round 3 : marking Lilim #2, marking Breeder
round 4 : marking two last units (forgot their name)

During marking these units, make sure to teleport all round. If it is possible, park in front of shooter (I got lucky the AI line up Breeder, Lilim 1 and Lilim 2 in the same corner, so I can get all three ) and attack them. Whenever the Juggernaut or Cerberi come close, teleport to the other corner of the battle field.

After you spread the mark, all of Azkaal's spell and attacks will do double damage to the units. Furthermore, his retaliation also fire-based and will hit all stack that had done damage to Azkaal. So, the three shooters will definitely be killed by the retaliation.

I managed to defeat Xana after the third trial

I have another question...on the third mission, how do you finish the the side quest Hunter and the Hunted? I've essentially cleared the entire map and haven't a clue how to do it...

After you talk to Yume's ghost and enter her area, explore it. There is a spot in there that will trigger the spirt that has been stalking you.

I encountered a strange bug in Inferno's mission 3. I freed Veyer on the second map, so he is supposed to accompany me throughout the rest of the Inferno campaign. At the beginning of the third mission, you have Xana as an official companion as well. Problem is, I can only select Kiril and Xana for (inter)action. When I click on Veyer's portrait, the camera changes to a place on the map where nobody is ... Did anyone have the same problem?

^Yeah, it seemed like he was in a ship at the ocean but I couldn't select him either, don't know what's up with that.

The 4th map is a toughie for me, the stuff Azzie says is not just chit chat, the more time I spend building up my army, the dark elementals just keep on growing and they are impossible to beat.

I disregarded the secondary mission about not converting any Haven stuff, but is it actually better to build up a Haven army in a shorter time and use that to kill the elementals?

Annoying but invincible tip: You can get darkness elementals from one of the pyramid/things where you fight and get monsters joining you as a reward. Darkness elementals are immune to darkness (thusly other darkness elementals). So just use them and hero attack. Hero attack killed 3 darkness elementals on first strike, 11 on last one when I tried this, so it does increase by quite a lot in strength during a match.

As for the first map: mindcontrol the cerberus to kill everything else, mark cerberus, KILL IT WITH FIRE!

^Whoa, thanks for the tip! It was a bore to kill legions of elementals with only the hero attack, thus gave the campaign anticlimatic closure, but Kiril for President anyways! I was surprised at the lack of cutscenes though, considering this was supposed to be the final map of the 5 campaigns. Anyways, it's Haven time!

I have a big problem with my Kiril... Anyway - I'm almost at the end of the first map and my hero has like 100 and more Tears points because doing missions is better that simple killing for Blood points (and leaving creatures run away is much better that fighting with them...). The thing is that I want him to be Blood (it's better that way, right?). Are there some big choices later on that give a lot of Blood points?

If you want to go blood, you have to play the battles, pursue fleeing stacks, use blood abilities, etc... There's no quest that will grant you a huge amount of blood points.

Personally, I've gone Tears with Kiril because the Seal of Power ability (might-tears) is the best way to save troops (Cerberi !)

I'm glad that Tears is also ok (Cerberi die so fast...). It's quite sad to play Inferno after one is used to the Necro combo of Ghost ability/Blood drain/Necromancy and the Naga one of Pearl Maiden ability/Healing/Regeneration...

Edit: ... ... ... Big... Spoiler... Alert...

WHAT THE URGASH WAS THAT?!?! I won the last battle and I'm like "woot, let's watch" and then "OH NO!!! I'll fight a boss!!!" and finally "I'M THE BOSS!!!"... And then I lost... And I have to replay the last battle... And I don't even know how to play with this boss guy - any tips? I wasn't good at all.

Edit 2: Thank you, esvath, I'll try that... I don't read older posts because of spoilers...

I loved the part. A nice suprise out of nowhere( despite the fact that I failed on my first try as well).

Hello, I'm about to start this campaign...

I am also trying to fulfill the Reversal and Repentance achievements. (Basic Blood to Adv Tears/ Basic Tears to Adv Blood)

So is it possible in this campaign to switch your class from Basic blood to Advanced tears or vice versa if you complete a certain quest? If so, in which map will that be available?

And how are the bugs in this campaign? Anything to watch out for so as not to trigger one? The Sanctuary one made me go insane with all the bugs.

I'm not aware of a specific quest that will accomplish what you want, but as long as you're prepared to do some grinding (making sure you use blood skills every combat, always pursuing fleeing neutral stacks...and so on) you should be solid.

Also, I didn't run into any bugs (besides a lot of typos) but if Sanctuary was the only campaign you've played then keep in mind that the first Inferno mission is quite a bit harder (or at the very least much more annoying) than the first Sanctuary mission.

Hmm... so if reversal/repentance is not available in the Inferno campaign, I'm starting to wonder if it's really available anywhere else... It was not in Sanctuary. The option was presented in map 2 of the Stronghold campaign, but I haven't tested it.

I'm fine with the grinding... I've already captured 4 towns so far since the last time I made a post... but even as a tears magic hero it's so hard to keep the cerberi alive. As blood, I imagine it will be even harder. Sigh...

I wasn't aware that you needed to complete a quest to get the achievement. I figured simply grinding the points and picking the other path when the time came to upgrade to the second class would work.

On the other hand, I agree that it's really hard keeping the cerberi alive and that that's what makes Inferno difficult early on...It won't matter much now you have four towns, which, if I recall correctly, means you've probably knocked out one of the AIs.

Wait until you get Pit Fiends...and squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
