Might & Magic Universe Continuity
The producers have promised those of us who have been with the series since early on that there would be various appearances by classic heroes, as well as some "surprises".
But so far, even post release, all I've seen of that is in the fan manual, which seems to have basically taken old heroes (Lord Haart, Atlas, Kalindra, Luna, etc.) from the NWC universe and "reinvented" them with a new back story that fits into Ashan. So, they're not even really the same characters. Meh...?
And I also could've sworn Crag Hack and Sandro were to make an appearance....

They did not want to put the old heroes in there NEW world. That woudl cause an outrage, these world are seperate (or should be).
But thay did want to put there "Characters" in, as a sort of reincarnation. And theres a lot of them, As well as from NWC time and Ubi time.
And it is not only the heroes, but also artefacts and that are are linking this game whith the older ones.
