Hello,

I just finished Stronghold campaign... I ended up getting one Magic dynasty weapon from there, but a bug caused it to disappear. Made me mad, but what can you do? I've played each map for days without end that I don't even want to restart map 2 of the Stronghold campaign.

Anyways, I'm thinking of doing Sanctuary next, as Irina ties in directly with Sandor.

Her default class is magic class, but her special skill is Heroism? Kind of lame... Is she meant to be a might or a magic hero? Does sanctuary synergize better with might or magic? There is a 4-3 split between the might and magic units, so it's not as one-sided as it is when choosing a main hero class for the Stronghold campaign.

In the demo, I've tried both, and I feel like might overpowers magic hands down when it comes to the faction. I don't know about any improvements they've made though with the magic class, if any. But I'm also wondering: if I do choose to go with the default mage class, will there be enough magic dynasty weapons in Irina's scenario?

The first weapon you get on the very first map is magic obviously. The campaign was created with a magic hero in mind.

Can anyone explain to me how the hell do you complete the 4th mission? It's veeeery hard! Inferno has 3 (deadly) heroes, Heaven has no less, they are wandering around leaving me with only 2 towns and even though the towns are completely upgraded I cannot keep with the size of the enemy armies. Looking at it I can play this mission for a whole week and still would be in the same situation.

I played a "might" Irina because that fits her portrait, loading screen, and background much better. Even though you do get a magic dynasty weapon in the beginning, there is a decent might dynasty weapon you'd get in map 2 (or 3?) of the campaign. If you need a dynasty weapon to level, just stick with sword of griffin first.

In terms of the practical aspect of choosing might or magic class, I'd strongly recommend might because there are some powerful combinations that you'd otherwise not be able to take advantage of.

For example, initiating with kirin that benefits from counterstrike III (very nasty retaliations), reinforcement (free fodder), and later Eye of the Storm (0 damage from 3 hits).

Resilience, cleave, and rampage also work very well with kensei that are buffed by coral priestesses and spring spirits.

Eight-petal lotus is great for both kirin and shark warrior.

The only way is to try taking out the inferno towns very early on, but my impression is that they (and the Haven towns) are not meant to be conquered because the computer is scripted to cheat ridiculously in this map. Aside from the outrageous growth rate of troops (i.e. 4k succubi in one of the inferno towns at month 4), every hero you beat will return with massive amounts of troops that came from nowhere. Usual tactics of camping outside a town to deplete troops one hero at a time also don't work very well.

Fortunately, you only need to do 3 things to win this map:

1. Kill the main enemy hero (he will wander around to be killed)

2. Kill the boss creature (look in the volcano region)

3. Kill Gerhart

Thanks but it seemed so impossible to me that I had to leave it unfinished. Will have to watch a video of someone passing it to see how the story develops.

Is it possible to do the "Beacon of Hope" quest on the 4th map somehow without failing the other quest, which forbids to conquer Haven cities?

I would like to have the artifact, but the EP of the other quests are nice too. Decisions, decisions...

Are you on easy mode? Because on hard , you max out the lvl for the map so fast esp the last map. I haven't even explore half the map and I already cap at lvl 30....so getting the artifact is much better.

You do not have to take out the inferno towns very early. I play on hard mode and what I did was finish the beacon of hope first , take out the other closer haven town as well. Build up your first 2 towns to upgraded kirin on one town and kirin on another asap. They will be your core army later. I never spend a single gold on troops until I have to attack the 2nd haven town which is after beacon of hope. My starting army + my 3rd hero army were enough to clear all the neutrals less arena and a few types that I choose to avoid(pheonix for example). A high lvl mage hero with the correct spells will easily take out deadly neutrals and even heroes. I actually kept my shark guard in town and only use the leapers(forgot name). Mid game , I use only leapers and priestess. Late game when I have enough kirins , i only use them least the last battle(to quicken the battle). I never lose a single unit on this map until the last battle. I could have 0 loses on last battle as well but i was too lazy to wait.

PS : Regeneration , stone skin , heal in the hands of tears mage hero in this game is imbalance imo. Life drain will be even more op mid-late game than heal.

I have started the Sanctuary campaign after Inferno and reading here made me really afraid. Is it really that hard? I have leave the default affinities for heroes in campaigns, so my Irina has magic affinity. I'm in the second map and it is not easy really, enemy heroes rain on me from every side, I don't know when I am supposed to leave my towns and go get Spring Spirits, Snow Maidens and Kirin.

And I should say I hate monolith one ways. Hated them in H5, and hate them in H6.

Town portal , Town portal , Town portal. So far on all the maps in campaign i've played...there was never once AI started invading me before I can get town portal up. Make your advanced town portal at the town close to the underground entrance. Also make sure you scout well. Scouting is one of the most important aspect of any strategy game and heroes 6 is no exception.

Well I'm on the 4th map and in the first month a knight of Gerhard came to my starting city and defeated me. I didn't even have the resources yet to recruit Kirins. Should I only go to the north only after I got Kirins, and skip all the elite creatures?

Did you take your 2nd town asap? Is your hero mage? did you learn regen/heal/stone skin and at least one high lvl attack spell(I prefer circle of winter in this case? In combat, deploy only the leapers. Use stone skin - regen - circle of winter , heal when needed , repeat as you see neccessary. You should have no problem clearing everything in your first 2 towns area. Do not clear the path to inferno area yet unless you choose to venture that way first. So long the creep blocking the entrance there is around , the AI usually won't come down to disturb you.
For me , i prefer to skip all elites. I skip even shark guard upgrade because you will barely have enough resource just buying kirin/leapers/priestess late game if you are building the right stuff and stocking kirins. I had over 100 kirin in the end. After you get both upgraded leapers and priestess , my next goal is kirin - all the fortifications. And at the beginning , only make one upgraded kirin building because that is a very cost ineffective building to up one kirin production. Only when you have spare resources after buying all the kirin , leapers , priestess , then you build more than 1 upgraded kirin building.
Your hero should have no problem defeating might heroes esp when most of their troops are might. Stone skin is evil.

If you are having difficulty with a map check to make sure you have one of the weapons like edge of chaos equipped.  They are free, you start with them.  In this particular campaign, the staff you get once totally mastered has a very good effect..you can hit all your enemies at once with a tidal wave..even shoves them backward.  Does a LOT more damage then your attacks (especially when you are low level).  You may have to restart the map many times, but eventually you will master the weapon..getting huge bonuses.

Will make life a lot easier.

I opted for a samurai because after the Necropolis campaign because I got sick of magic.  I was playing Stronghold for a might hero, but God forbid the game is testing for game-breaking bugs.

As a might heroine, the campaign is a breeze.  Why they decided to make Irina a magic-focused character is beyond me.  Maybe I missed something, but she really doesn't come across as the magical type.

Which path is this exactly? There's a Haven neutral army in the middle that leads to the right, should I go there? I just got the second town (where I got the sidequest that shows the underground entrance) it's the end of week 3, I cleared most of the neutrals.

I can recruit Kirin in the first town but not enough resources to build the upgrade...
