I was on that map in 1.1, and it was bugged. Not sure if it is still the case in 1.2

Basically, it is the white zone to the immediate east, there is a U shape structure but the fort is not plotted or attackable.

Exactly.  It was so unnecessary.  She started randomly talking aloud about Sandor to herself, and ended by saying something like, "Men like him are so rare.  If he wasn't my brother..."

Keep that bizarre snow to yourself, Irina.

Besides, I get the feeling that Sandor's own sexual preferences lean more towards the Orcs...

@venerable oldies: it was just a way to get the AI off my back on the third map, coupled with me not noticing where the quest-giver Kirin was, pff.

Now, Map 4, second try, might blood Irina, level 24, week 2 day 2, and I'm stuck. Captured Ashwick and Rauchburg(stupid pun, grr), but the AI is about to *** me with the Warlock just outside the gates. I know from my first try that if I stop at Ashwick, that ends with the Legions overrunning me a couple of months later, so I went full-out rush... What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Current army: 25 Kappas, 35 Shark Guards, 9 Coral Priestesses, possible to convert Rauchburg, netting me a total of 6 Kenshi, 23 CPs, 41 Kappas, and 51 Wanizame before the confrontation, with 3 Demented, 2 Hell Hounds and 2 Succubi yet available to recruit in Rauchburg, where only Basic Fortifications are built,

against

a level 20 Warlock having Horde of all Inferno Cores(EDIT3: had a dry run, turns out they are upgraded along with the Elites,) Lots of all Elites and Several Pit Fiends. I'm trying it tomorrow, any bets?

(@'Pics or it didn't happen'-guys: screenshot     EDIT2:Rauchburg converted before the battle       the enemy hero)

Meanwhile, I tried a slightly different tack, left Rauchburg for a little later, took advantage of extra income and marketplace, then Town Portalled back to my starting town. I have saves of both approaches, but I really don't think it's going to work out either way. - the second is already looking rather like the stalemate from my original attempt. I guess rushing is a bad idea here?
What can I do? If I don't rush, I'm forced into the same 2-way war, but with even less resources.(no extra income from either of the Demon towns) If I focus on taking Ashwick and not Rauchburg, I'm reduced to periodically repelling both that sonofasnow Gerhart, and the accursed pair of Warlocks, while they slowly whit away my troops. And if I do rush Rauchburg to hold it until the warlocks get back, I still don't gain enough of an advantage to mount an offense neither on Gerhart nor on the Demons.  How is this map doable, if at all?

Been a long time now since I played the campaign, but have you tried sending a trash hero to collect the armies up north-east? Just dash for 'em and port back?

I dunno how a might blood Irina would match up in this map, but maybe try to send straight for those reinforcements and adjust the timings of your ground strat accordingly - to not find yourself needing them until you get them.

You could also not care about optional objectives (not sure if you are right now). That'd give you more castles to work with.

I'd also note the sea, as I recall, is full of goodies with no one else collecting them. It helps feed castle growth, to an extent. If you have a hero to spare, it might be worth the investment.

What armies? As I see it, I have 1 castle against the combined power of the Demons and Gerhart, who come knocking week 4 at the latest, with bi-weekly attacks from both.

Yeah, exploiting the fruits de la mer was my first thought too, even if the cost of new heroes is prohibitive, I have the level 8 carryover Naga chick to haul them in, and it does mean I have upgraded elites by week 3, but that alone doesn't help me much when the raiding parties arrive.

@Objectives: I have some, but I see no way to complete them, as I'm practically confined to the first two areas, with no possibility of leaving.

I don't know at what difficulty level you play, but I've played through that map twice on normal. Both times, I spent the first week to collect all resources and possible joiners around my castle, using the resources to build up my town. During the second (or third, can't remember, it's been a while) week, I would capture the town just north of my starting town and convert it. In the mean time, my secondary hero would be off scouring the sea for any and all flotsams and treasures, only leaving the haunted shipwrecks alone. I even would make landfall a few times to pick up some easy resources / scan part of the map, retreating to the ship if any enemy hero came close.

Although there's a Wolf town somewhere along the southern shore, the Hero garrisoning it doesn't come out unless you're basically standing on his toes - at least, that's my experience, even if his army will squash yours before breakfast.

The point is to stand off a bit there: the Demons and the Wolf duchy are actually engaged in battle, destroying eachother's forces. They ignore you, as long as you don't venture too far east from your second town. You can use this time to fully explore the areas around both of your towns, collect everything, flag every mine and capture every artifact, while you build up your towns' buildings. Eventually, your army will have grown large enough to start competing with the two enemies. You can choose to initially just drive a wedge between them (capturing towns on either side), or to just trample one completely while holding off the other until you're ready to focus on that one.

Edit: I do think they occasionally send a hero your way to test your mettle. The first one is very hard in particular, but with a good, sound tactical battleplan, you should be able to defeat it. Once you're passed that battle, the rest should be a lot easier. From memory, the Inferno enemy seems to be a lot more annoying than the Wolf duchy.

Everyone keeps talking about joiners, but every stack I attack hates me So You're saying I'm golden if I ignore Rauchburg? That'd be great! I can take Ashwick week 1 day 7, while building up my original town... Should I then take the fight to Gerhart via the seas then?

Interesting discussion you have here. I can't help much because I drowned the enemies with a tsunami first turn and followed up with more tears control spells. I remember that the armies were huge and I was happy that I didn't go for blood - and very happy that I didn't try might.

The joiners in the far North East can only be reached from the water. Some are guaranteed to join and some may join. I chose the Diplomat ability (had a spare point) which gave me 60 kenshis that first refused to join. Then I upgraded them and went to the lava landscape and managed to defeat the Challenger demon lord. First I tried to defeat him in his castle but failed after 1 hour of battle. I reloaded and rode back 10-15 steps, ended turn and the challenger attacked me! In the open it was a good but very winnable fight.

Restarted again, left Rauchburg alone for now... holy snow, this map seems shockingly easy now! Granted, I still don't have Kirins, but with the joiners my army is good enough for now, and my income is massive! Best part? On my way to conquer Gerhart's palace, and a Warlock takes care of one of the Knight armies, and proceeds to attack me with almost no mana!
