If I ended up in the Greek army I'd shout SPARTA so much I'd be peeling potatoes for 8 out of those 9 months.
And that would be the better part since I'd spend the remaining 30 days cleaning the toilets for running around in slow-mo, in my underwear, with a blanket on my back.

No one here is commenting on how you're being forced into slavery for over half a year. I would recommend moving to a different country.
If you don't, you might get lucky and get to shoot some protesters.

Slavery is a strong word though the amount of suck is high regardless. Should have seen my father, his service lasted around 3 years. And why would I want to shoot anyone? Apart from politicians that is.

The only ones I have are the stories my father always tells me about military service,
For example how a soldier was punished for not being clean (I have no idea what military would consider as 'clean'  ), the punishment was the rest of the group (erm squad I guess) had to clean the toilets with their brushes for a week.
The rest of the group made sure that he never never forgot to wash after that, by making his life a living hell.

That's a funny story, here's one my dad told me.
How to avoid military (by my dad)
1. When called to the recruitment interview, put a chocolate bar in the back of your underwear.
2. Let it warm up.
3. When standing in front of the recruiters, put your hand in the chocolate bar and raise the hand to your face and lick it off.
4. Military does not want poo-eaters.
5. ????
6. PROFIT.
