Holy crap, I am in Cyprus and I cannot believe my luck. Warm climate(was freezing in last camp in Greece), warm and tidy people (they shook my hand the moment I got there!) , the superiors are lax and talk to us like they would to a friend, plenty of days out. To make things even better my specialty is fairly easy, I feel like I'm on holidays ^^
Others have been screwed from the very first day, I am thankful for getting in the specific camp.

You consider yourself lucky for going to Cyprus? Either things have changed so much or you don't know what you're talking about.
In my time, Cyprus was considered a hellhole. But that's more than 10 years ago... Maybe things have changed.

U mad, this is a holiday inn, a comfy one. Only downside that prices are high and that the army only covers the first 3 Greece visits by plain. But you get paid anyway so the deal is fine.
Mind you that is not true for all camps here, amount of work, lack of rest and the hard treatment from oldies can be a pain in some. But not for us.

Yeah, that's just luck, I guess. My fellow comrades back then were telling me they were really having bad time there. You know the slang we got for it, right? They were... coagulating!
I was lucky to serve in Kos. It was pretty normal, I guess. Not good but not bad either. After a few months, I even started enjoying it.
Anyway, let's just hope Israel, Turkey and Russia won't go apesnow while you're there.

Santorini! I had the time of my life there when I was a soldier.
Serving in a Radar station on the highest spot of the island. I could view the whole island from there on a clear day and the volcano too! Perfect place for vacations! Others would pay a snowload of cash upfront to get a room with such a view!

I still remember my first time firing a G3A3, it was better than Call of Duty! XD

I did hear about m16 recently, they are probably being used somewhere still. But G3A3 seems to be the common one. We haven't actually learnt how to assemble and disassemble them, guess later on.
