I miss Bonopart's clever and witty sayings about ves
Jinxer's idea is best maybe ves could recoup 1% of his losses by charging people to be in various tourney's.
I think if you want to win prizes for no finicial risk to yourself you may aswell ask your local government for your taxes back.
Kudos to ves for still being around after so many have failed... 12 years is ridiculous.

I dont have to say anything that ves does not know how i feel about how he runs this TOH.
I respect it more then he knows.
I would never ask for money or anything for him.
If he puts it as a prize or gifts, then I am all up for it.

Hi all,
I am thinking of setting up a small tourney in late 2012,where six players, barons or higher, compete for 1000 USD, prize fund all supplied by me. But it is only h3 because I have not bothered to learn more. Do you all think it is feasible?

Of course it is still in the pre pre planning stages. I need buy a new laptop, new h3 complete and learn how to connect multiplay without zone. When I was last here patch v1.3 was the final one, is it still so?

uh...wow no castrated. 1.4 was the final patch for homm3. i think that(1.4) was the one that prevented cloning 25 archangels by the host, or something like that. or was it 1.3 that fixed that?

I am planning, an hourglass tourney. Only hourglass is to be played. First prize will be a thousand. Each player has to pay one hundred USD as entry fee. Second prize is one forty. Third is one forty. Fourth and fifth are forty, and the last place nothing. The missing dollars are for postal to send money to and fro. Sounds good I wonder.
Still advancing in the pre pre planning stages.

Then how about upgrade the minimum requirement to be ex legionnaires? Also, the one hundred USD will not only discourage cheating, since it will be forfeited if they are caught, but also encourage them to finish the tourney.

simply lol. i bet that there are only 2 ways for money prizes:
- find some sponsor which don't mind about return of investments
- live homm3 championships can have money prizes (like regular championships in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus)
You try to attract players to play fixed map, and only 2-3% of online players remember how to play fixed maps.

I can afford the cash.No worries but I am planning this one step at a time.
I am thinking, the rules will be ..
No DD, fly , Armageddon to be used. Also, no water walk.
No level three and above heroes as main.
No Logistic speciality as main.
Max is basic diplo on any hero. Any adv diplo heroes must be dismissed in that turn.
Map is hourglass and castles and heroes and bonus to be chosen.
Difficulty is one sixty percent and necromancy, offence and armourer speciality heroes CAN be chosen at the beginning.
No grail.
Do any think I need to add more rules?

how will you define "main hero"? good players normally have 2-4 strong heroes.
What about ghost heroes, Hit&Run, Red Rush, Joiners, Draw in battle condition?
what will be time per turn limit?
what if both players would like to play same color or same hero?
who will make decision about game conflicts?
how do you plan to handle situations if one player will quit from game with or without notice (e.g. unhonorable player or problem with PC/internet)?
do you personally plan to participate in tourney?
the big problem is that you are unknown player and experienced players will not consider your statement about money prizes seriously. organizer must have reliable history or games or tournaments (e.g. Horn, Dust_HL (they have organized many tournaments on fixed maps), Stuff (known fixed player), etc)
