Well, most of the eyes were either frozen or shot in some way, shape or form, and the guy that they were attmepting to blow up was sort of distracting, and then there is the added bonous of the group being under the speel haste (since it is a mass spell)... And that wall of ice? Yeah, we obviously had to wate for that to be destroyed. No way to get past it otherwise.
And this is what happens when you give an Ivor, a Meroe and a Gnomes two rounds of free action.

*chuckles* It is fine really, mearly a diversion. However, yes Ivor..barely without a scratch. As a single beholder can take on a full squad of trained characters..with magical items which your group has none..and kill the characters. Each beholder can have up to 9 attacks in a round (though only 4 in a single direction)..and this does not include any reflected magic. Sorry 4 forward max, 3 to any side max. Including disintegration, paralyzation, and other nasty things.
That being said, I did love the originality put into the combat

Going to be wednesday before I will have the time to update (sorry). As for the beholders..as long as you all don't go too crazy with the main enemy (right now that would be the death knight if you bump into him..if not the lich/druid) or a dragon it is all good.
KI I love your idea..only one small problem. Shadow creatures see the dragon, they are not going to chase it..they are going to run the other way as fast as they can. They will of course TELL somebody higher up about it..but no way would they try to corner a dragon.

Bah, cowards! What did their higher-ups bring them to a dragon lair for if they're too cowardly to fight one itty-bitty dragon?

*laughs* To keep others from coming to try to trade with the dragon before they can. My dragons are a bit different from other games. It is a major undertaking to fight one. Siege weapons, large armies, the like. They are the 'first born', and short of demi-gods and gods the most powerful creatures out there. Luckily they are very solitary creatures, and don't work well with other dragons (even the good dragons) and slumber for hundreds of years at a time. Only really vulnerable when hatchlings (when the parents will tolerate each other and guard them until considered 'young') even a young dragon is something best left alone. You'll see no single hero rescuing a maiden from a dragon..unless that hero is an offspring of a god *laughs*

Does Aleron know how far away the two nearest towns are, travel-time-wise, and does he know anyone in them? Also, where's Walker?

The nearest town would be his hometown (so yes he knows people in it) or what is left of it..and since it would be a neighboring town he would know it (make up a name..don't care) and maybe a few people in it. As for Walker..you are not sure..he seems to come and go mysteriously..but probably near you.
Edit : As for time travel wise..his town would be about half a day give or take (depending if they know the way through the mountain or not). The other would be at least 5 day travel.

Let’s call the farther-away one Ironholm, and Aleron’s town is Cherryridge. (Unless this screws with the naming convention; I tried to find the name of the capitol and couldn’t.)
Edit:
Helloooo, where is everybody?

How did you...
I'm waiting for Meroe/ Ivor. Although, if you would just like to blow the ice up for us... Edit: I'm going to regret that...
