“Druidic circles, to be precise,” Aleron added from behind Raistlin. He strode past and handed a report to McCade; more tallies of the dead, notes on the destruction, theories and measurements and endless minutiae that might help unravel the mystery.

Kerym felt the need to investigate the stones a little more closely. He took spade in hand, and poked one of the stones to see what might happen. Maybe give one a nudge with the spade, should the poke go smoothly.

At first Kerym thinks he has caused something with the poke. The stones glow, and in each of them a .. mound of moss grows. It is very quickly obvious that it was not something he did, as several other moving mounds of moss shamble into the completely surprised Envoy's personal guard.
As the mounds in the circle near Kerym 'stand' ((or as much as a mound can)) and start to shamble out..one of the others near the personal guard grabs at one of the guards. When it's .. hand grabs part of the armor, the armor starts growing moss on it. One of the guards cut down one of the creatures, and it just .. melts back into the ground. No sign it was ever there.

Kerym jumps back, tossing the spade on the ground, and grabbing for his sling and bullets.
"We've got activity here!" he calls out to the others. Not being one for the front line in most cases, he turns away and runs for a more favorable position. After arriving there, he turns, places a bullet into the sling, and launches it at the nearest mound he can spot.

"What is that- What!" Not waiting for an answer to his own question, Raistlin casts magic missile on the closest moss-elemental-creature-thing, sending three green (changes with the caster) bolts towards it.

Ivor keeping a silent vigil at the back of the party keeping a close ear to all that transpired and making sense of things to the best of his ability, but wary for he could sense prying eyes. He hears sounds of magic and shouting and rushes to the front to see what was afoot. He arrived to find Raistlin panting , and Kerym with a drawn sling, but no sign of their targets.
"We have better things to do then fight each-other." Ivor said with a smug grin.
As soon as he finished speaking a creature grabbed at his foot and made an attempt to bring him down. Ivor did his best to keep balance and no sooner did he draw his sword then an iron bullet penetrate the bondage. Ivor not having enough time to properly thank his comrade joined the fray.

Out of nowhere, Tanis appeared and in a flash cast Blight on the plant creature. The green moss immediately turned a putrid ghastly ashen color, letting off a rather dank smell. It withered and shrunk.
Tanis followed with an Acid Splash, entirely covering one of the stones. The acid ate into the stone and a gaseous burning began to dissolve the stone, leaving only a nasty melted steaming mass. "Nothing will be coming through that one anymore", Tanis said to no-one in particular.

In minutes the others from the other stones have arrived, and the soldier that had been touched..has turned on his fellows, further spreading the chaos. Every one of the ones even touched slowly turn into the moss creatures. One of the newly turned ones is taken down..and the moss disappears but the body remains..could it be that these things are just the first wave?
The captain, seeing the stones being destroyed suddenly shouts. "Everybody, those stones do not seem to be protected..destroy the circles!"

Ivor still flustered makes an attempt to obey, but seems to be forced to the ground as moss has grown on his boots and seems to be consuming it  . He rips his leg out of the boots avoiding the moss and hacks at it till nothing is left  .

Lining up with the moss things coming towards them as best he could, Raistlin chucked a lightning bolt. The bolt hit the pillar of one circle and bounced off, clipping one other before fizzling and disappearing. The pillar and stone fell down, cracking up the middle as they landed. Whatever moss had been producing the creatures also was destroyed by the electrical currents.

Lo'or froze for a moment in shock as he saw the moss, then he unsheathed his sword and (rather urgently) began hacking at the masses of plants struggling to cover him. As he fought, he slowly zoned out, concentrating only at the battle. His instincts were taking over, instincts and a whole life of training.

Kerym took note of trying to destroy the stones. He flung another bullet into another creature, and then started chanting. With a few movements of movements besides, his muscles looked to grow some.(Bull's Strength) Another bullet loaded, he sent it flying into one of the nearer stones. It bounce off, up into the air, and further on. It had done its job however, as the stone had cracked enough to split in two.

Aleron surveyed the attacking creatures dispassionately. Most of his usual favored tricks were useless against creatures with no eyes to appreciate them, but the things didn’t seem terribly durable either.
He began to weave ray after ray of icy cold, interspersing them with Ghost Sound and Dancing Lights in pre-arranged patterns (the latter two being for the sake of coordination rather than direct offense—that being one benefit of fighting sightless foes) figuring to spare his mystical energies for more dangerous horrors. Even the feeble spell of cold dealt the plant creatures heavy damage; he was somewhat intrigued to see a resulting corpse melt away.
That neatly explained the absence of enemy corpses so far, but not the destruction—he well remembered how nothing had been salvageable from any of the towns the escort had traveled through thus far. His internal question was answered when one warrior, too consumed by battle lust to notice that his arms and armor were being gradually covered by the stuff, suddenly emitted a gurgle and spun to face his former comrades.
That was a more satisfying answer. Aleron attempted a spell of Charm Person to restore the man to his senses—alas, to no effect. He was nearly bisected as a result, saved only because another of his comrades interposed with sword and shield and cut the possessed man down.
Across the battlefield the mage heard his superior shout:
"Everybody, those stones do not seem to be protected..destroy the circles!"
Aleron took stock of his surroundings to ensure he wasn’t about to be run through, then began to weave another spell—this one above the battlefield itself. It was a Silent Image depicting the area in map form: the remaining stone circles were depicted as bright green marks, the destroyed circles as fading red ones.

With the help of the silent image, the last of the circles are finished off, and the moss and moss creatures just...vanish. Captain McCade is the only survivor besides the group. The envoy, his personal guard, and the rest of the guards did not survive.
McCade surveys the scene. "First, no druid did this. They would have no part in these foul abominations. Second, these creatures could not have been solely responsible for what we have seen. Lastly, them rising at this exact time seems a bit too much of a coincidence. Somebody or something knew we arrived." he seems particularly disturbed by that thought. "The druids of Signal Island, if this has not reached there, might know more.." he pauses.
"I can not ask for anybody to go with me, to track down whatever or whoever did this. You've lost everything, and need time to grieve. I for one am going to hunt the ones responsible for this to the very gates of hades if need be. Those that wish to come with me, be at the docks at dawn."

Tanis had moved smoothly from one stone circle to another, calmly throwing down Blight and Acid Blasts at the mossy creatures and stones and occasionally she stood back and watched her companions hack and slash everything to rubble.
When the situation has eventually ended, she listened with indifference to McCade's impassioned speech. "I can not ask for anybody to go with me, to track down whatever or whoever did this. You've lost everything, and need time to grieve. I for one am going to hunt the ones responsible for this to the very gates of hades if need be. Those that wish to come with me, be at the docks at dawn." Even before he had finished, she knew she would be there, after all there was nothing else for her to do. She probably wasn't going to get paid for this work, her employers appeared to have been annihilated.
As McCade was finishing his statement, Tanis had already turned back towards the caravan. She was going to eat and rest, be prepared for tomorrow. She was already meditating ((sleep)) by the time the others returned.

Kerym stops to listen to Bart, then goes to look for his spade, should it still be where he tossed it. Whether it is or not, he starts heading for the capitol. Preparations, if any can be made there still, would be useful for the journey at dawn.

I've got no issue with hunting these abominations, but I'm in dire need of supplies, my boot is a loss as-well as my sword  . Not to mention we need to resupply our food and water. (which we planned to do once we arrived)

Nothing of value survived the attack, but there is basic equipment in the wagons that traveled with the group..things like boots and basic weapons. As for food, looks like hunting would be the best option. Wouldn't trust the food around here (except in the wagons).

Vaishvilk has fallen behind his company as his horse was exhausted and he had to lay it to rest. he kept up on foot untill he reached his group and witnessed all the destruction that took place here.
He walked in being quiet and then said to the captain:
- What has happened here?

Captain McCade, shoulders sagging, fills Vaishvilk in. All of the responsibility has fallen on his shoulders. He is now the highest ranking officer left. Everybody was now his responsibility, regardless if they (or he) liked it or not.
