Game settings in multiplayer games

I would like to hear players oppinion about game settings. I played few games and agree for the next:

Map difficulty:

a)global difficulty: custom
b)aggresive AI: on
c)creature growth: normal
d)Starting recsources: rich
e)neutral armies: strong

Hero leveling speed: fastest
Time limit mode: off

Now the question is if the hero lvl should be fastest. In this case you will reach reputation points very fast. I believe hero lvl should stay on normal.

It's matter of taste i think

For now i use this :

a)global difficulty: custom
b)aggresive AI: on
c)creature growth: maximum
d)Starting resources: normal or reach
e)neutral armies: strong

Hero leveling speed: normal or fast
Time limit mode: off

Sometime i just choose normal difficulty and play

I would put hero leveling at normal, unless you're playing a small map.
Resources, normal -- because rich only creates a rush game without thought.

Even though I haven't played multiplayer game yet, from single player experience I was under impression that the only viable options is fastest leveling. Logic was that fastest level gives higher level hero resulting in more interesting final battle.
What was your hero level in final battle, for those of you that actually had multiplayer game.
Also, question for Vesuvius: did you consider adding a duel tournament of sort, or maybe even incorporate duel games somehow in regular tournament (giving less points of course). Bare in mind that duel between two equal players could go up to two hours fight. I had quite a few of those.

duels-"could go up to two hours fight". That is true. I have experienced such thing in the beta. Still cant be compared to a classic game. May be a tournament suits better the situation and ofc some prestige points!

well a map like 'bridge too far' is like a duel, and what I played in multi for TOH points right now.  Still takes time, but provides some diversity/fun/challenge.

Played this map one time and this was the last one. It's map, really ? It's week one rush. Diversity end after 3 games maximum. In general i respect map game-play much higher compared to duel. But to compare this map to duel ? No way, duel is better in any way possible ...

No, its not you. Started game vs Felunzbunio yesterday where we solved the problem this way:

Write down the five factions in excel.
Add random function to each one (gives random no between 0 and 1). Sort from highes to lowest. G
ive each faction a number from one to 5, and then the other player can say "I am 4 you are 3", and i will paste the random order at the same time.

1 Sanct
2 Orcs
3 NEcro
4 Haven
5 Inferno

Thats random faction in heroes 6 2011.. Then we just created a hero for ourselves and started playing. Works ok when there is mutual trust, as it should be.

I bet some smart guy will come up with a tool to give us random faction, and maybe hero, back soon, should be an easy application to make.

So I have noticed a very ANNOYING thing with H6. Well there are many things, but I will limit this post to 1 thing.

When I alt tab out to desktop between turns since we have no sim turns.. then I go back into game.. it says reloading game resources??? Really? Whats that all about?  And it takes like 30 secs to do this every time. Is there a way around this?  Why does it have to UNload the resources when I alttab to desktop?  Heroes 5 didnt have to do this.. Why must they REGRESS the game to a stupider state?

I have no issues with alt-tabbing , u sure its not your pc?


I like following settings:

neutral monsters: standard -> hard favors easy creeping castles

staring resources: standard-> same as above, easy feels too easy to me for standard neutral mosters (maybe monsters hard and easy starting resources is good option too)

monsters growth: fast-> you got a lot of creatures later in the game because there is a lot of castles and dwellings on the map, everything runs from you , small growth makes game trivial , who runs faster and gets better stuff.

hero lvling speed normal-> faster favors magic heroes, they can rush more easily with high lvl hero before enough troops are built.


Another thing is that maps are designed in different way, some maps on same settings are much tougher then others.

Its true my work computer sucks, but my home laptop has DualCore 2.53Ghz procesor and Ati Radeon 1Gig Dedicated video card with 4Gig Ram.. and when I alt tab out then back in.. I get the same loading resources messages etc.. and your saying you do not get that message?

I ALT-TAB yesterday playing with Targan and no problems at all.
So that could be a computer problem.
H6 has lots of bugs but we can't blame everything on the game

I'm playing the campaign myself, but I've read somewhere that the leveling is different between a campaign game and a custom game or multiplayer.
