Nope, just had a lapse of concentration! Water and Fire work really well against Necro, once soaked/frozen, fire hits hard, but this is for other factions, not Sanctuary...

i assume you are referring to normal undead as in zombies and vampires and so on.

The M&M ones are different wheras they are more like puppets being controlled as opposed to beings with their own will.

but how do you counter necro while playing necro?

what about stronghold vs necro? stronghold has a good magic resistance and that lightning totem sounds great! i haven't played stronghold yet, what do you think?

stronghold may be quite effective, as they can devastate the necro wall quite quick, and once necro can't shoot you they are toast

I have an idea Juncker. If Necro is overpowered then please tell us which faction you think is weakest and then we can experimment to find ways to use that weakest faction to defeat necro, and if we can do it with the weakest faction we can do it with the others.

The best way i fight the necropolis is Sanctuary Tear Magic.

-Use tsunami to shock every small creatures.

-Move the kirin as fast as possble to the fate spinner (before she switchs forms to spider), and let the kirin fight only with her.

-Move all the creatures to kill the lich, then i call some light elements/air elements (attack & return/shot) on the lich so the enemy won't re-animate him.

-Kill all the other creatures.

(air and water spell book is pretty usfull here to).

Cool... but how do you beat necro in siege with sanctuary? Haven seems to stand more of a chance.

before siege you if it's a big map you can have a second hero to follow you and when you find some creatures that want to join, give them to him, let him fight first in the siege even if he dies, he will weakend your enemy.

since you have peral maidens (air damage) don't forget to get thunderclap which i find very usefull against the vampires.

you should get ice breaker since you have yuki onna (frozen damage) it will make your army stronger.

you can just try to get to lvl 25 and get teleport would help in siege to get your kirin to the fate weaver.

and you have enought time to kill the liches with your shooters after using tsunami.

don't forget to get Logistics as your first skill if your enemy didnt get this skill you will be able run faster then him and get more stuff then him.

Yea, one small problem: the yuki onna's attack is water-based so it would deal -20% damage to any undead creature
I prefer getting monsoon with a blood mage and when the creatures are soaked, strike them with chain lightning and pearl priestess for a +20% damage
Also all sanctuary creatures are vulnerable to air, so any hero that uses air magic has an advantage, but that's another story
I don't think there's a "weakest faction", i only say that necro has an advantage because of the necromancy and ghosts that can revive any creature without a side effect (like rise undead from homm v that reduces the creature's health by 20%) and using the necromancy doesn't consume the hero's turn or any mana, so i think is kind of OP in that way (you can revive and cast master of puppets in the same turn or curse of the netherworld ). Also mark of the necromancer is a devastating option against sanctuary (curses all enemy creatures with a +26% vulnerability to blood abilities, then cast chain lightning and it's a 46% more powerful against sanctuary) . I hope Ubi is releasing a new patch soon balancing this issues

werid i tought yuki onna frozen touch inflict the
“Frozen” effect, but it is inflicting the chilled effect O_0.

well you still have the kirin Hailstorm Aura which make the Victims inflicted by the “Frozen” effect.

and you can always get yourself ice bolt (frozen effect).

Duel clasic: countering magic necro

Any ideeas with in depth explication? Patch 1.8

I find no solution in might. Lich do 2-3k and they can t be blocked defended by wavers and ghosts, back by necromancy. Basicly they one shot a stack in 1 hit.

So any ideeas?

You have to tie them down. You can always kill them, but they can always get resurrected, so it's not a priority until you got a good handle on the battle. But you really need to tie them down. If you can't get anything to them because of formation, break up the formation - either by killing a thing and getting in there before it gets resurrected, either with poison gas. Poison gas isn't a sure fire way to break it, but it makes the other guy decide between breaking up the formation or taking continuous damage on minimum 3 units (to maintain formation). That's painful either way.

i got in a battle with AI stronghold might hero and i had a necro magic hero.
mind you our levels were 6-8(low levels) i won with only 90 skeletons standing. check the results and see if necro needs a tactic to be beaten (in early levels at least).

Try a duel now.

Beating the computer is usually very feasible, unless you screw up somewhere, and that regardless of matchup (no offense of course). Beating a human is something else entirely. But without sim turns, the only way you'll be fighting a human is in a duel. Personnally I fail to see the point of discussing balance in anything else but duels if there isn't sim turns.

How can you develop such strong armies and stil be lvl 6-8? Afaik, things are more balanced in lower levels as you won't have maximized your stat skills or gotten many lvl 3 abilities. At the same time however, I'd expect necro to have a faster creeping and less losses so chances are it would have a level advantage. Probably not much if you play on normal leveling.

well, not only would i consider stronghold to be the best counter to a mecro player, but you also got to rememebr that you didn't have necromacy levels 3 and 4...

architect external dwellings and patch 1.7.1! still in those lower levels i got almost owned by the AI! if that isn't a shame. and in the risk of derailing i just want to say that stronghold on the lower levels with their high attack + rage II (+10 might power) are pretty, unsually tough!
