Oh! I was sitting in skype with a friend the other day, when I beat my doombringer record. As I entered my shrike they had a single one and ~7 minutes later they had nine in a twelve man team (they quickly realised though) and my skype friend promply named them madbringers! When you provoke somebody to switch to doombringer, they become a madbringer!

Yeah hahaha... especially when they actually jetpack towards you and lock on from like 10 metres away.

You never see a DMB do that unless he's mad.

So... I was playing with an american pal the other day, and noticed that with my 250 ping I couldn't hit anything with the ARX nor with any automatics. Due to my disappoint I got the thumper for the tech, and by god it's easy to use! That splash is huge! Just played flag defend, and all I needed was a "kind of not too shabby" timing to shut down the cap, and with two autoturrets I could also duel anything, even though I couldn't MA anything. Now, if I get the feeling that this is a very powerful weapon, and I was staying outside at all times, then what will happen if I take it to it's favoured enviroment; the indoors?

The thing I'm most impressed about when playing TCN is how he throws grenades.

He's like a goddamn baseball pitcher, SWOOOSH across the room. The RDR throws his EMPs like a sissy girl by comparison.

I thought everybody knew that the EMP 'nades were made of cotton? Try throwing a handful of cotton across the room.

I agree though, the TCNGs are propably the best grenades for indoor use, since they explode so quickly.

So I was thinking; that I should compile a full guide for Tribes: Ascend, with all of the classes and all of the positions that is in the game as well as a general tactics guide and specific strategies for specific situations and classes. It will be a massive TL;DR post.

You mean this wiki? Where they still have the twelve classes and the most advanced tactics tips are some minor tips on what you'll gain with which perks? I was thinking about talking about the different options with load outs as well. Perhaps you mean this one, which is significantly better, but it's still rather lacking when trying to fit in a lot of the classes into roles,  the technician for example is quite lacking.
Besides... I didn't write either, and mostly I just write to myself, to make all of my thoughts explicit and force my mind to actually progress them.

EDIT: And I already have a lot of original texts, so why not use them for the project? At the very least take certain parts and thoughts... and I'll surely steal some stuff from Adrius' stuff here in the thread... unless he insists that I don't, of course.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with including strategies on the Jumper, Scrambler, or the Ranger in the wiki...

Fair enough, but it doesn't really make up for the lack of actual tactics beyond the mentioning of a few of the perks in context of the class.

All INF harassment is copyright of Adrius 2012.

But hey dude, I'd personally prefer if you just shared some new and exciting tactics rather than just do a general guide on everything.

We're currently 4 members playing Tribes here and I'm pretty sure we know the basics.

Yeah, we're not a big pack, but I have other gang to tend to and there'll be plenty of new stuff in there. I'm currently just trying to exactly define what I'll put in there, but I'm pretty sure I haven't talked about dynamic technicians nor much about the skill curves of the different classes nor about role relations in offence and defence respectively. There are so many things that I have yet to actually write about, and I feel that I may just as well just put it all into a single piece. I think I'll actually start with the tech part, since that's what I'm playing this week. I must admit that the thumper is a lot of fun.

Capture & Hold with INF is pretty funny...

See enemy point... approach it cloaked, ignore the enemies.
Fire 3 Jackal rounds at the point and take it in the same moment, and then throw a smoke immediately.

You're visible for about 1 second, and then their point is taken. With luck, they didn't even notice you and they try to reclaim the point.

Then you blow the Jackal stickies, get his ammo drop and repeat the process.

EDIT:

And then a Brute waltzes in and spams Fractals all over the place in a suicide run and you get ****ed up anyway.

EDIT2:

I'm seriously scared that people will look at my profile and see 30% TCN usage and think I'm a motion-sensing, aimbot-turreting thumpernician.
I'm a pilot goddamnit.

Yeah, I'm getting some high numbers on tech as well, and those numbers on the inf is solely because I was playing inf when they started counting hours and then shortly afterwards the cloak and dagger update came along. Haven't really played inf since.

EDIT: The tech part would mostly be shriking and roaming. With the thumper I can actually reach the same speeds that a soldier will and I can do some basic chasing and often end up being on offence when needed as well as doing a lot of jugger-hunting. The generator is often a secondary objective if I see that it seems important (well placed force fields and stuff).

Because he despises them. As inf you often see people mindlessly roaming the generator room, placing turrets and sensor mines as much as they can, and if they are not busy doing that they will randomly spam the perimiter with the thumper, even if they are unaware that there's an inf about (and yeah, you can tell). It's comparable with juggers who will stand down there and mindlessly spam mortars at an entrance or brutes spamming fractals at said entrance.
