H6 factions and units, the maths

I've created an Excel file (H6 units and factions)(in .xls format) for all H6 units, extracted from the fan documents.

The first sheet (units) contains all the standard unit stats (columns D-P are hidden), as well as some analysis from myself.

Col Q, DamagePerHp: Higher means offensive, Life Drain becomes more effective on this unit.
Top 5: Sister, HellHound, Archlich, Lich, Phoenix
Bottom 5: Sentinel, Goblin, Praetorian, Crossbowman, SharkGuard

Col R, DamageSpread: Higher means this units in greater need of flawless assault. In H6, this is much less significant than in H5, units damage spreads are low (remember H5 crossbowman's 2-8?).
Top 5: SharkGuard, Ghost, Wanizame, Crossbowman, Maniac
Bottom 5: Seraph, AirElemental, Celestial, EarthElemental, SacredKirin

Col S, damage lost per 1k physical damage taken:
Explanation: if this unit is dealt 1k physical damage, after defense reduction, the stack will lose m units, then (m * average damage) is this column. Somewhat similar to Col R, but defense is taken into account. Heroes adjustment will change the value, but not the order, so other things being equal, you should attack the unit with higher Col S first.
Top 5: Sister, HellHound, Cerberus, PearlPriestess, Vestal
Bottom 5: Seraph, Celestial, FateWeaver(h), Praetorian, FateSpinner(h)

Col T, damage lost per 1k magical damage taken.
Top 5: Sister, HellHound, Ghoul, Lilim, Cerberus
Bottom 5: Seraph, FateWeaver(h), Celestial, FateSpinner(h), Mizu-Kami

Faction sheet
All on UPG units
Total weekly cost
Sanctuary 18505
Necropolis 17750
Haven        17180
Stronghold 16830
Inferno 16730

Total weekly HP
Stronghold 3026
Sanctuary 2928
Necropolis 2920
Haven           2906
Inferno 2471

Total weekly power
Sanctuary 1055.186
Necropolis 1007.193
Haven   974.367
Stronghold 958.368
Inferno 947.585

Total weekly damage
Necropolis 608
Sanctuary 588
Stronghold 553
Inferno 549.5
Haven   500

median initiative/speed/luck/morale
Necropolis 35 5 6 0
Sanctuary 50 5 8 7
Stronghold 40 7 7 7
Inferno 45 6 11 5
Haven   40 6 7 9

Unless I misinput something, inferno is significantly the weakest

(I hope there is an insert table or something here...)

I'll add other stuff as I feel useful during play, but let me know or do it yourself if you want some other analysis.

It's much more complicated than that (you need to add speed/initiative, skill/spell availabilities, creature abilities, individual building costs and respectively town development issues, etc.) but there is no doubt that Inferno is the weakest - and not so much because of the raw stats of its units which do need improvement but because its army is mostly mechanically composed of creatures which don't increase each other's efficiency but just attack (the few nasty tricks they can do are easy to counter).

great work and THX for this!

and btw: i dont think, that inferno is such weak as many say. the power of the gates, the "charge" of the ramps, the evil power of the pits, the nearly unlimited mana of there mages and MANY more are very mighty imho!

Question is, however, whether Inferno's special abilities in this regard are better than those of the other factions - for instance, the healing abilities of Necropolis and Haven, or the offensive power of Stronghold?

unlimited mana won't help if your army is wiped out before you can use your mana. With weekly HP nearly 1/4 less than average factions and second worst weekly damage output, you need a great lot of compensation in unit abilities, which is surely not here.

Inferno is also the cheapest, but not by far.

It's the cheapest because it has the lowest weekly growth overall, not because its creatures are cheap. For example, it's still a total mystery to me why the useless Hell Hounds/Cerberi are not only the most fragile creature in the game but also the one with lowest growth (or as low as the Mauler/Crusher's except that the latter is twice as sturdy and has similar damage output...).

well how much 3-headed dogs do you see everyday - it's a rare spicies. maybe there's not enough female cerebri for them to reproduce , while orks in jungle can simply drag anything in the bushes and work their magic. They can aparentley breed with lots of things - just look at harpy and centaur

Seriousley tho i remember some people claiming cerebri are OP during beta so they probabley nerfed them - but looking at stats they don't seem to be strong at all - thinking back Inferno was one of weakest factions at H5's launch aswell while Necro and Heaven were OP - history repeats itself - it's strange UBI dosen't learn anything from their previous games

Could you save this in .xls not .xlsx? I've got OpenOffice and can't properly read this.

Good job. While, like all charts, it's not something definitive or instantly answer-giving, it's a food for thought. Probably took you some sweet time to make. +QP for the effort.

Inferno feels less durable than others, and the numbers feel accurate here. I can't believe for how long we actually requested Cerberi HP buff...
