I Hope Ubi Retcons their new vampires. As is it pretty much leaves vampires > liches, and the lore is beyond stupid.

Edited by Hermes at 09:56, 25 Feb 2013.

I like the lore actually It is a unique world with unique rules

So, there we go - Liches:

Quote:
Higher ranking Necromancers are given a life-prolonging elixir that is milked from the venom of the Namtarus, Asha’s
sacred spider spirits, that they must mix with their food.
This “treatment” turns them into Asakkus, or “Liches”, their bodies desiccated but now freed from the passions of the
flesh.
They keep aging however, until they ressemble little more than walking mummies.
The venom mixture also colors their entire eyes bright green.

Archlich

Quote:
An Archlich is given that title when he has continued “living” beyond what his or her physical shell would have
normally permitted.
Though this passage might seem arbitrary, it is not, for a Lich feels the moment pass when death should have come.
As they journey beyond the sacred cycle of Life and Death, they gain comprehension of greater powers, some which
can be used to sap the life force of living creatures

So, according to this, Aguiree for example. can only be a Lich - not an Archlich, because he would look like a walking mummy. Now its a bit strange for such a powerful Necromancer to be just a plain Lich, isn't it?

Vampires:

Quote:
As they grow in power, Liches may earn the right to be embraced by the Spider Goddess herself to die and be reborn
as Akhkharus, or “Vampires”.
They undergo an excruciating ritual but gain a rejuvenated body, cleansed from all defects. Vampires don’t need to
eat, drink, sleep or breathe anymore as all their organs are “petrified” and it is not blood, but the sacred spider’s
venom, that now flows in their veins.
However, they need to drink human blood on a regular basis to thin this venom down, and prevent it from dissolving
their body from the inside.

So the ritual here, is it not he infamous Mother Namtaru kiss that Anastasya went through? Looks like this, and if so, that means that Aquirre could not be a vampire as Mother Namtaru was not in the cult back then.

Quote:
When a Vampire reaches complete mastery over his new powers, he starts to age backwards, looking one year
younger with each new century of unlife.
He is now greeted as a Vampire Lord, and joins the ruling council of the Necromancers.

Now this is why Sveltana may look very young - similar to Miranda, one of the most powerful and influential spider cultists and also a vampire. But then, she was not around for centuries, was she...

So in my guess:

1. Vampires are the ruling council of the Spider Cult(like Miranda)
2. Sveltana most probably is either a very young Vampire(or Vampire Lord) so she got her rejuvenated body, but that is unlikely as Liches normally spend long time before the become Vampires and she is not that old, so she probably just a Necromancer or a very young Lich.
3. Anastasya was just raised as an Undead and became a vampire - similar to how  the King in Heroes 5 was raised as one.
4. Vampires also wield powerful magics.

Frankly, I consider the lich body decay to vampire reverse aging a silly idea. No amount of lore explaining can make it sound reasonable because nobody cares - with a few exceptions like Hermes. Feels like a misguided attempt to add depth and cohesion where none is needed. Hell, they might as well make the skeleton the next stage of ghoul evolution and it would sound similarly absurd. Such changes are not what makes a setting unique and memorable, there are more interesting ways to go about it.

Since first I read their descriptions I found them so stupid. Necromancers (Necro Hero) who transform into liches (Necro Elite unit), and then some liches transform into Vampires (another elite unit)? It simply makes no sense

I'd say that to, with the slight addition that they will stay as long as Erwan LeBreton does.(did I spell that right?)
As far as I know and can tell, the current Continuum is Erwan's brainchild. So you can imagine his loyalty to it. The ammount of retcons or other such changes will be minimal as long as he stays executive producer.(I think that's what he is)
Now I doubt he will stay that forever, but for the forseeable future he will stay on his position "so youse mugs better get used to it".

Well would you rather have necro heroes become fate weavers? Or ghouls maybe, similar to how inferno heroes are incubi/succubi?

For inferno just cause your an incubi/succubi does not mean you cannot rise to high positions or become powerful.

I mean look at kha beleth he is most likely an incubi and he is pretty much the ruler of hell in the future.

So what demon should humans become? I mean incubi/succubi are the closes human like demon.

Once a maniac dies they are spawned back as a maniac. If a pit lord dies they are spawned back a pit lord.

Some of the inferno heroes have flaming hair/horns I mean so they should design each individual hero according to the portrait? I am glad that we now have a male/female instead of one design like V.

Plus I don't really have a problem with the whole lich/vampire thing maybe cause I am new to the series. *shrug*

Knowing the general opinion here I am sure almost everyone will disagree with me.

I have to admit that the idea of the necromancers being given more of a philosophy rather than just being simply evil is somwhat interesting but the execution (bad pun) of the idea is horrendous. The spider goddess venom that is supposed to be so fearsome looks like Nickelodean Ooze and isn't intimidating as all. The lich and vampire lore is pretty silly as well.

I'd love to see the Necropolis be actually creepy/scary (for what I mean look at the HOMM V ghosts)

No. If a demon dies, it is respawned as an imp. No matter if it was a succubus, pit lord, Demon Prince or Biara, it comes back as imp with all its knowledge but without power. That's what really happened to Biara in H5:ToE - she was "killed" but will be reborn as imp. The demon must next climb up Sheogh ranks to achieve its previous position. That's the same reason why Azkaal wasn't killed by angels - he would simple achieve his rank as Demon Prince in less then a centaury.
At least that what was told to us about demons in Arantir's campaign in HoMM5:ToE and in H6 Inferno campaign.

In essence, the Blood Eclipses are probably the demonic capitalist's way to ensure that there will be a large surplus if cheap Imp labour once the invasion is over. This could explain why the combined IQ of the demonic generals does not surpass that of Paris Hilton - they are just sent to fail.

Zeno is insinuating that the mood eclipse slaughters demote a good portion of Sheogh's population into lowly and easily-bossed-around imps which are Ashan's proletariat equivalent Which might make eclimpse military campaigns more of a plan for increasing Sheogh's gross domestic product than an act of senseless evil.

I couldn't imagine how screwed the inferno would be if their workers were smart.

"So it is my understanding that you are hiring us to build a 'Hell Fortress' out of twisted metal and obsidian rock that is partially submerged in a lake of lava and also a kennel filled with rabid two-headed dogs that magically just floats in the air and is fastened together by a chain?"

"Uh...yeah."

I checked last sunday's Conflux figures :

- 453.762 players have at least 37 experience points (that's the closest number to the total number of sales we can get)
- 371.713 players have tried Slava's campaign, only 309.894 finished the second map (which is required to start the campaigns). That means we already lost ~150.000 players there.
- 135.608 players started Anton's campaign, but only 75.217 reached the final map
- 79.360 players started Kiril's campaign, but only 53.8898 reached the final map
- 131.350 players started Irina's campaign, but only 60.539 reached the final map
- 201.102 players started Anastasia's's campaign, but only 123.906 reached the final map
- 84.566 players started Sandor's campaign, but only 45.300 reached the final map
- 13.503 players started Crag Hack's campaign, but only 11.619 reached the final map
- 10.451 players started Anton's campaign, but only 8.393 reached the final map
- 6.474 1v1 multi games have been done
- 1.683 duel 1v1 games have been done
- 135 siege duels have been done
- 402 legion duels have been done

There clearly IS a problem with the game that has nothing to do with external factors.

And of course these counts miss the offline players.

one thing, why does the anton campaign appear twice? wich is the one one that you(or UBi)counted as the right one? or are both valid and the last one is the update of the first one?
