Improvements

Hey, I'm working on a little project time to time and I just wanted to ask you people - what kind of improvements would you like to see in Heroes 6(skills, effects, stats, monsters...anything)? What you like and what you don't like the most? Not talking about new towns yet.
Ofcourse, many things can be found here in all topics, but I just want to have it all in one place, so share your minds, thank you.

1. Tactics -> remember's your troop placements
2. Flag above hero's head gets taken away (so you can see resources, etc. that are above your hero)
3. Nerf Necro racial ability
4. Increase demon racial ability
5. Make all heroes available to choose from in hotseats, offline skirmish, etc.

I'll list just obvious small things that are in previous heroes games that for some strange reason they decided wasn't worth doing atm.

1. Should be able to choose any hero for starting in offline mode.  Should also be able to do this in multiplayer too.

2. Should be non-dynasty weapons in game (this would also help might heroes more)

[It is to be hoped that one day the offline game will be a game experience worthy of past heroes games if at least the above 2 are done...except AI ofc]

3. bluecamel made a multiplayer map but you can't play it in multiplayer online because one has to actually manipulate the orc files to make it appear on multiplayer online map list

4. better map editor - is there more fan-made maps coming out?  The game maps available may not be the best & the neutral monsters fights can certainly be made more interesting...it could be a bit late for a user-friendly map editor from what I've read in forums.

5. I'm not sure if mixed neutral monsters are possible in this game yet, even tho it was hinted previously that they would be in.

6. Need reminder that some heroes haven't moved full distance if end turn button is pressed...I'll just take the fact that a hero will automatically continue to move towards the adventure map target in start of next turn without player intervention as a bug.

7. If a hero can't reach a location in same day, then put a number next to the movement cursor so you just get to know in how many days you will arrive.

8. If you have more than 4 heroes or more than 1 town/fort why does one have to scroll to get to them?

9. More interesting battle locations in addition to the arena. eg. H5TotE had dragon utopia/crypt/vault of mages/gargoyle vault/sunken temple/galleons etc.

10. The number of online saves & switching between online/offline modes while playing same map appears to be an issue.

11. Should be a LAN mode.

12. Duel mode really should have artifacts but I suppose many are ok with it now anyway; plus adding artifacts would possibly randomise things too much & they certainly don't want any randomness.

Bigger things like more intuitive UI & better AI - game is just too far down the track unfortunately.  I never had any issues with user interface in H2-H5.

Other things like bugs, balancing, sim-turns, rmg etc I'm sure they will fix or modify or add.

That's all I can remember at the moment.

Tactics and small number showing distance in days are definitely needed.

Also, if hero specialises in one spell, make him/her automatically specialise in the mass version, if there is one -- Irina only gets buff for heroism, not mass heroism

Okey now..what I'm doing is trying to make the game better, and add some own ideas and things. It is a bit big project, but I already started my work, I will introduce with it later, when I have something done.
Now about your dislikes:

Now, what I'm also thinking is making necropolis champion creature's non spider form more useful. any ideas? Cause now there's no good use and you allways will be changing form and almost lose your turn. MAYBE I'll make it to appear in spider form firs...hm...

I would like to see something in line of this skill limitation.

Tier 2 skills require (besides level 5) 2 points spent in the same subset (so 2 tier 1 skills from same tree).

Tier 3 skills require (besides level 15) - 5 points spent in the same subset (so 5 points spent in tier1+2 from the same tree).

I like this idea in some way,but you would have to specialize only in that exact school to get something and this something might be the only thing you need from that school...so I'm not sure if this would be very good. anyway, I will see if that's even possible

@BIGJOCKER, thanks for even looking into some of these!
They were just mainly a listing of missing features, I didn't really expect anyone to be able to do them [well you did ask for thoughts, not practicality & my hope is that Black Hole/Ubisoft might see fit to include them one day ].  Even placing a monster onto another during tactics phase & the mouse dragging requirements are changed from H5.

I thank you that you even took the time to look at making those heroes available offline

There's just too many bugs, but we'll see when patch comes out which should be not too far off I've read, so I wouldn't bother you by listing any yet.

Something else I remembered is a player's creature unit weekly growth can only be seen in the kingdom overview.  It should also be available in the creature hire screen in town, as well as something like a tooltip to say how the total number is derived (like in H5TotE).

I wonder if they intend to improve map editor & whether modding is only to be done via those orc files?

& to what httassadar said: is it really true that something like hero regen spell specialty only applies to single target but not mass version of spell

Yes, I dont like it also. But there's nothing I can do,at least now. But I think it will be fixed by some patch.

I dont think that editor will be improved. But we can still hope.

As much as I saw from files - YES. I will play with this a little bit, but not sure how to test it FAST.

I have some wonderful news to you all guys who play offline. I CAN make all weapons to be available to YOU. Want proof? Here you go:

It's Brave New World map, just made for testing. I put Angelic Alliance with editor, that's the only difference.

2. Can we have the remainder when ending the day and there is still hero with movement points?
3. And fortify hero function?
4. More divergent skills for each class, if possible, or at the very least each factions? Such as, Necro faction is blocked from Leadership?

Hi, not to discourage you from your work, but I think it's a bit futile to put a lot of effort into modding the game this early in the development stage. Frankly, the game is still in a shape where it should not even have been released, and I would expect major changes to come from future patches (of which the second is already long overdue, but be that as it may). So putting a lot of time into improving something that is very likely to change anyway just seems waste of time - at least from my perspective.

I partly agree with you, but it's just what I do - making mods, making game more pleasurable. I like doing it, sometimes even more when actually playing. So it's kind of not a waste of time it's more like hoby. If we get a lot of fixes, so be it, I won't be sad, I will always have what to change or to fix for my own(at least) pleasure. I understand that it's maybe too early, as many people are still playing campaigns and getting to know the game better, but this won't hurt to anyone, especially because you DO NOT have to use what I make, I'm just sharing to the ones who are interested. Thanks for any kind of support anyway

You know, the "camp" button, "skip this hero when the button active", like HoMM III. So if Hero A is "camping", and he still has full move, when I end my turn, the game will not give me "Your hero still able to move" message. It works hand-in-hand with request #2

Anyway, I have Idea for Fate Spinners/Weavers. How about making it possible to continue it's turn when changing form (no "wait" function)? Ofcaurse some stats modification will be needed, but it would be player who desides how to play woth this creature, not the creature who forces player to do what he dont really want.
