Some digged out the tournament of honor results and I had this nice nostalgic moment when seeing I was there and under thirty woot
And yes I enjoy homm6 , and yes I find it a great opus , far greater than the 3rd for instance. Yes I had fun with the third , I had stars in my eyes when it came out but years later , there is really nothing system-wise that can compare to the two ubisoft's opus. And yes this new opus is a change , a big one . Wow, finally someone i totally agree with !

Heroes 3 is the most over-rated game ever, while Heroes 2 is the best heroes and 5-6 better than 3.

But becoming older and older, I start to like Heroes 4 more and more. I think Heroes 4 is a very mature game in fact. Won't appeal to -25 years old.

Call me whiner if you want, but if I think the game is ****, that's what I'll call it. And sadly, that's how I see it.

Yeah, but you have your reasons.
As others have their reasons to have a different opinion. Calling people stupid because they have a different opinion isn't right.

Arguably true. Let's make it clear then, that it is not ok to call each other stupid. Some of us have bought the games, others haven't; some of us like the game, and others don't; and while we may not agree with or understand the others' oppinions, they are still entitled to have them.

That being said, I haven't seen any case of people actually doing something that I judged was intended as an intentional offence to any members here, but only as an expression of their dissatisfaction with the game - but of course all members shall think twice before posting something that could be considered an offence.

HOMM 6 sold a surprising number

I prepurchased HOMM6. I played the BETA. That left me decidedly unhungry for the game. I have yet to play the day1 release. The first time I have every not been enthralled with a HOMM game.

I was particularly disappointed with magic heroes. The same ol' skill plan every time and for every faction is also rather boring.

I am awaiting some patches before I fire up the game.

And you did well on that. The game is so riddled with bugs now that would only disappoint you even more.

Wish I would have not gave in and buy the complete version as I originally planned. Would have saved me a lot of grief.

Might get real good by then though personally I doubt it. But at least it will be more playable, as the bugs will be fixed by then.

One thing is for sure, never buying another Ubisoft game on release. Never going to go through that again.

And if Heroes VI not gonna get more to my liking by the end of it all, then I'm not buying another Ubisoft game period.

Not even other Might and Magic titles, until someone other than Ubisoft gets to publish it and ofcourse, someone other than Black Hole develop it.

It is funny How the ingame problems just seam to past me by.
Sure, there are some broblems that are more or less genral, like the Gryphom diving assault, the Reputation problem in Strnghold map 2, or one or two none functional skills. But no generaly game breaking problems.

The game runs fine. Although my sister has problems with her Game synchro. No crashes, no major bugs or unmanagable situations. Am I really that lucky?

Yesturday. Sis came to me and asked if I could finish the Stronghold map 2 for her. She just didn't know how, and did not have the energy to maintain her stragl. So I took over. Five turns later and the game was descided and became a walk in a tropical jungle park. I ended the game camped infront of Shakas fort and let her finishe the map in the morning. Whyle playing I also noticed that she did not receive the DW-Staff from the Blood path quest.
In the Morning I looked how she was doing. Just fine, playng the next map. Shakas batle was easy, but she did not get the cleaver at the end of it. She then told me, that I can replay that map to get those DW if I want to. So I loaded the save I made her just befor Shaka. Fight the batle once agein->DW recieved. Restated the map played only to the point where you attack the orc Rebels Staf received. So.. Am I really that Lucky? or are those bugs really that random?

I would call skills not working, vanishing dynasty weapons, crashes that occur in certain events of the game, criticals not triggering and others as such, to be major bugs actually.

I don't know what causes a bug to manifest and if they're random or not but there's a few bugs there that some people got and I didn't. Like some people could not get the Silksword though I got it just fine and there was one who could not unlock the campaigns after he finished the tutorial.

Maybe there are workarounds for existing bugs that you followed by chance. But the people don't lie about them.

Thank you Karanshade for the great post.  I agree with you.

Maybe some people haven't called other people stupid for liking Heroes 6, but there's no reason for them to jump into every thread and voice their same displeasures.  We get it, you don't like the game.  If they want to create a thread listing what they don't like and hope changes, then that's great.  But for a thread like this that is about how this game has the potential to be the best ever, I hope people ADD to this thread.  It's a happy thread, and I hope it stays that way.

Oh wait, it seems two posts into this thread we're accused of being stupid for buying & liking the game.  Thank you Fauch!! (that's sarcasm).

Just a few posts later and Avirosb returned to this optimistic thread to bring his gloom with:

We're sorry! Your profile doesn't correspond to what we're looking for in this specific survey.

Thanks for contributing and trying to rain on people's parade with a comment that addressing nothing the OP highlighted he liked! (sarcasm again).  You had already told us you don't like the game and "to each their own" in this very thread...  So why come back and down on us again?

I really like the game and don't see any errors that are preventing me from playing and enjoying it.  Heroes 5 on release was a much bigger mess, and I love the direction of the Heroes 6 for a myriad of reasons.

You can respectfully disagree, but don't call us stupid or return time and time again to a happy thread and tell us why you're miserable.

Maybe a less volatile interpretation would be "Some people are very disappointed with the game, and these disappointed people might feel the need to point out the game's positive aspects in order for these disappointed people to feel that the purchase was worthwhile."

If you're not all that disappointed, then you're not part of the demographic being described.

My interpretation was that Fauch is describing himself; that he's so disappointed in the game that he feels the need to point out the game's positive aspects in order to not feel that the game was a waste of money.

In that light, it's not targeting everyone who bought the game; it's targeting everyone who bought the game and maybe wishes they hadn't.

Well back on track, I think this game has the potential to be the best in the series.  If the following things (in no particular order) are addressed, then it would make it the best Heroes for me:

-Great town screens
-2 more factions
-fix all of the known bugs
-Simultaneous turns for multiplayer
-Map editor guide and/or more user friendly map editor
-Add non-dynasty weapons to the game
-Adjust the talent trees to be moderately unique per faction
-Improve the AI function to be a bit more challenging & random

I'm sure there's some more, but that's off the top of my head.  My conclusion is that all of the above can be accomplished in addition to what has been sold already.  Therefore, because they are additions, this game does seem to me to have the required potential to be great.

Well, by judging from your avatar, your fav Heroes must be 2, LIKE ME.

But it seems you don't give Heroes 6 a chance which I find abit rude.
Give it abit of time, enjoy it : at least do the campaign.

While the Heroes 2 + Price of Loyalty campaigns are the best (imo), the 6th one are the best narrated one, even though the story is very bad.

I guess what keep me involved in the Heroes 6 universe is the overall design (graphics, overall gameplay, music).

You do a methodical analysis covering every point I want
Because you must have Heroes 2 as your best ever. So we must have same tastes.

Thanks for the comment X-ecutionner.  To be honest, I try not to have a favorite homm... I think there's attributes from each Homm (including #4) that are better than the others.  I wish I could combine all of my favorite attributes into 1 game that I could design lol.

That said, I have the most fond memories of homm2, yes. I went off to college a few years after H2, and never played homm3 until recently.  This prompted me to go back and play Homm1 & Homm4 too (while playing homm5 of course lol).  I think it gives a very good and unbias perspective to play them all back-to-back.

One of the developer's biggest goals for Heroes 6 was to streamline a lot of the tedious management.  While it can still use a bit of work, I'd say they did a very good job.  When I've played multiplayer in Heroes6 I've found all of my time has been dedicated to fighting battles, planning my hero's development, and planning where I'm going (and in what order) on the adventure map.  In addition, I always feel like I need more resources.  This is the first Heroes game I can say this about, and I love it.

Another big thing I'd like to add on to my list of requested changes for Heroes 6 though are siege battles.  I haven't seen this mentioned often, but they are some of the worst designed in any of the Homm games.  Unfortunately the developers regressed in this catagory.  However, this is something that can be fixed, so I still maintain that this can be the best Heroes in the series!

Aside from balance (which they will fix in a few months and then this will be a thing of the past) and few maps, I see no glaring problems with HoMM 6 that make you all ***** about it nonstop. They did a good job considering their resources.
