WARNING : EXPLOITING THE A.I. : Mission 1 Sanctuary

So I was just trying the first Sanctuary mission - campaign scenario is very bad by the way - and put again every fight on auto, hard difficulty.

So basically, I ignored almost EVERY NEUTRALS and just rushed to the objective, the extremely defended (mortal threat) Northern Castle.

While I could have never won if the computer just attacked with everything as soon as possible, he just waited.

Here is what happened : The computer divided his "mortal threat stack" in front of me, and still defended. I was able to just fight against the "modest" threat, that weakened the "mortal threat" by alot.

So what happened ? I killed the splited stack 3-4 times(his hero being in front of the castle) before the castle became weak.

Here is an image : his "high threat" (deadly some days ago):

The same threat DIVIDED INTO TWO HEROES THE DAY AFTER - one is outside the castle :

Here is a proof of the won scenario - 1 hour real time for the Hero rank and one month and a half ! - which totally kills the fun out of the game (rinse, repeat).

Changed into link to avoid stretching

Well, but you can have same result with a lv9 Irina and beating all the map (with some more heroes) and beat the final town normally . Basically you just advance always towards the final objective while killing stuff on the way. The days lost depleting the final army are used here to gain more xp. So it's not so much of an exploit since it doesn't allow to do more than playing normal game in my opinion.

That's hardly an exploit, the AI just can't handle sieges, no matter if it is the attacker or the defender. You are quite likely to win a battle against a "deadly" garrison so even if it doesn't split its forces, they are still pretty beatable. When defending, it keeps its creatures behind the walls for quite some time (until you take down all or most of its shooters it seems) even if they can wipe you out in 2-3 rounds if they engage you directly. So it's mostly a matter of killing the garrisoned shooters while keeping most of your own alive and the battle's won.

From 1.2 patchnotes

- FIXED: Sometimes without reason the AI split its army into 2 and lost against a stronger hero.

LOL

If you would read the patchnotes carefully, you would notice that this note is for Skirmish AI, and the example is from Campaigne..

So how should I call you now.. LOL was used by you. So is that a -> "Lerne from your own Fail"????

So anybody noticed this action in Skirmish?
Btw. while playing this particular map, the AI did not use such behavior. It kept all its units with the Main hero, and the scondary heroes were left with the original unites.

I did notice and that makes it even funnier. Don't you think its plain dumb that AI fix is applied only to certain aspects of the game? Or its just me...

Do you get higher rank depending on how long time (hours) or how many ingame days it takes?
Like is it better to, take 5 months but won the map in 1 hour or win in 8 hours but 2 ingame months? Or maybe they count both, anyone knows?

No I do not, could you imagine that in maps like Necro 4 or Sanctuary 4 the AI would act as in a normal skirmish? When the player has 10 elite unites and gets attacked by a 50 Champoins and 100's of elites? Campaigns are scripted and do not use AI as much as the Skirmish maps do.

I would like that events are scripted or that AI's movement is scripted, not its behavior. Anyway what OP showed on pic is clearly AI glitch which was already noticed in skirmish and now it has shown its ugly head in campaign. If developers cant get rid of such glitches after 2 months of AI patching I can only say I'm saddened with their incompetence...

The AI in campaigns makes some mistakes sometimes when scripted to defend a town with a powerfull hero. When he hires a secondary hero if you attack the town you have to fight the secondary before the main even if the main is outside...but sometimes the secondary takes all the troops with him when he is hired because the AI left them in garrison. So if you attack then you have to beat the big army but with secondary hero.

Number of hours doesn't change anything : Before using auto, I spent 10+ hours per maps (for Necro & Stronghold I didn't use auto, because I love these races) and got Hero rank as well.

What mainly matters is : In-game time spent (months, weeks, days), difficulty, side-quest. Rest is less important.

The inner engine & source code from Heroes 6 is extremely wrong. I don't know how Black Hole coded this game but ...

Anyway bro, don't play Heroes 6 yet: Wait for Simul & Town screen.

I just spent 4 hours to see what changed, and I already saw 5 bugs while testing abit of everything...

Wanna play a good HoMM ? Go back to Heroes 2-5. Problem fixed.

Well not exactly since the split is not like in your screens where (foule, foule, foule, troupe) becomes (meute, meute, meute, troupe) on secondary hero. What I say is that the secondary will have (foule, foule, foule, troupe) outside of fortifications while the main hero will have crappy troops inside town and easily beaten then.

Yes, but I meant this is not a game breaking variation to this one exploit, though you got a point here : it can appear into two phasis : either he just buys a new hero to scout (and lose it the day after), or he split his forces and dies a week later.
