I disagree. Sure, HOMM6 could eventually turn out to be a good HOMM game but I'm not confident at this point that it will. Magic needs a major overhaul and the downsizing of resources, the creature tier decisions, only a couple of heroes available for offline play, AND the entire Conflux fiasco were rather questionable decisions for a heroes game. I certainly hope UBI/Blackhole will be committed enough to their customers and to the game to make major changes but at this point I say to them, "prove it." The developers communicate very little with the community. They need to change that.

I agree with Elodin.   I don't see Heroes 6 turning around anytime soon.  There are too many glaring flaws that bring the game down and for that reason, it is my least favorite entry in the series.

Comparing heroes 3 when it war released, and heroes 5,both were better than heroes 6 at the time of release.
Does heroes 6 have potential to be the best heroes game? Yes, as every heroes game before. Only time will tell,but the problem is when the original game is like this on release, somehow i start to doubt that something will change (and I hope that im wrong).

Price of Loyalty and Armageddon's Blade.
Both vanilia games for these addons were fully playable, not like in case of HV.

I can't comment on Heroes 5, but H3 Price of Loyalty:

- contains 4 solid and hard campaigns
- contains game elements which all subsequent games use, like border guards, necromancy amplifier, jail (with a hero), mermaid, arena, stables, or Sphere of Negation artifact.

Overall it's nice. Perhaps not great or amazing, but come on it was the first expansion for a HOMM game.

I disagree.  I think Homme5 on release was definitely worse than Heroes 6 - especially playing multiplayer.  

And yes, I think it is too early to fully judge Heroes6.  There are some glitches and errors, but I think people are overstating them.  They have hardly affected my play, both in the campaign and in multiplayer.  

While Heroes 6 may have some balancing issues, it is already more balanced than several of the previous Homms which are supposedly "polished".  

I hate having a favorite or least favorite because IMO there's good in each game which I want to carry over to the next.  Even homm4 had a lot I would like to see again.  

I'm not saying you have to like Heroes 6.  But stop letting complete nostalgia get in the way.  From April to October I went back and played every single Homm in reverse order.  Contrary to many people's nostalgic recollection, much of the gameplay was spent performing redundant and annoying tasks, forming an unstoppable army that after 1/4 of the map was defeated you knew you'd win, and forgetting about resources after 1-month.  Factions, creatures, tactics, and spells were quite imbalanced too.  

Again, there are a number of things in my opinion which I hope they add to Heroes 6 from previous homm games.  But if you discount this game and give up on it before the expansions then I'm not sure why you're still posting in this Heroes 6 forum.  

Homm5 was practically unplayable on release.  Heroes 6 has not been to me.

Is this some slogan? Every time when someone tries to explain (to himself, most likely) why so many people like Heroes III and not the next games from the series, the said person refers to this... nostalgia. Try to imagine that some of us play Heroes III on regular basis and are not just "returning" to it once in a while to remember how it was a decade ago.

Hmm, it seems like you say that if games has no bugs and good balance it will be good? For me the problems are not bugs and balance issues (not that much). The problem is removing or simplifying some aspect of heroes that worked good, or could be improved.
This are the reasons why I don't like heroes 6:

-4 resources, it improves nothing, only lose on strategy elements of game
-shared pool for regruting, simplifying strategy and logistic
-simplifying towns with no town screen
-bad implementation of spells
-bad AI (but that was also in heroes 5)
-5 towns
-healing units
-switching race of towns for almost free

Most of things that they changed is as they said to make a faster multiplayer game. But the problem for me is, that when i play heroes game time is not the problem.

The only good thing about heroes 6 are grafics (i don't care much about that) and trying to improve on rpg elements in heroes.
About campaign i can't talk because never played it in any heroes game too much. I play only multiplayer with friends on hot seat (bring some food, drinks, and we can play all night long ) or single player against computer.

There is no nostalgia, becose as Zenofex said i still play heroes 3 from 1999 (well in last 2 years with few mods)like a lot of people out there.

Nonsense. H4 is actually pretty fun to play, and the Campaigns are stellar and amazing role-playing experiences, and the single player missions are fairly fun too. The only real problem is that 1) It doesn't feel like a real Heroes game (ergo: it lacks the fairytale-esque atmosphere) 2) It is VERY hard at times, even at Novice diffulty it's difficult (and I reallydo not like difficult games myself, so it's a minus for me </3)

I would barely classify H4 as a Strategy game even. It's a quirky TBS/CRPG hybrid.

Nope! Still a great game. I imagine plenty of people prefer Heroes I to Heroes IV and Heroes VI, maybe even V before ToTE.

My friends and I have who play both single player and multiplayer against eachother have come to a general agreement on the following:
-4 resources have definitely added strategy for us in multiplayer.  In fact, this is the first game in the series where I feel like resources matter for more than a month.
-Shared pool of creatures:  This has both benefits and negatives.  We still haven't made up our minds if we like it or not.
-Town screens in Heroes 6 really suck.  I couldn't agree more.
-spells are pretty good, and they've added some concepts I like (i.e. single spells being situationally better than mass spells of the same kind).
-AI is indeed pretty bad, but is definitively better than homm5 AI (though that doesn't say much).
-I would prefer 6 towns at this juncture, but 5 isn't a big negative for me.
-Healing units:  We kind of like, but some need a bit of toning down & balancing.
-Switching race: pretty good concept, and I like it.  However, the cost needs to be adjusted (likely increased).

My biggest beef, outside of town windows, is that the teleporting/logistics aspects needs some re-working.  Overall I am enjoying the game though and think it has promise.

Heh. Fair enough. I love my games to be complex (albeit not too complex X_X), but eh, I still think it's a good game in spite of it's simplicity. (lol @ H1 Town Portal Abuse making it's reappearance in H6. So retro &#9829

That's not nonsense. Some points I dislike about Heroes 4:
- No unit upgrades. WTF? That was the worst decision in a Heroes development ever.
- Ugly units.
- Very ugly town screens (save Preserve in its own environment).
- Infernepolis.
- Abysmal AI.
- Horrible combat field mechanism.
- Poorly balanced Heroes on battlefield (albeit the idea itself is not bad).
- Poorly balanced creatures (Vampires vs. everything, Djinns vs. Nagas, Cyclops vs. Ogre Mage (lol)).
- Stupid creature tier system (95 % of times you always choose same meaning that almost half of the games creatures were never used).
- Nuisance when AI build wrong buildings in town.
- Bad (imo.) magic system.

Good things about Heroes 4:
- Interesting new skill system that Heroes 5 improved on.
- Interesting adventure map sites.
- Fairly good neutral creatures mechanism.
- Advanced classes.

I did have some fun times with Heroes 4, but that didn't mean that the impression it left was a total and immense dissapointment. For me, it was in almost all ways a step back compared to Heroes 3. One can discuss if it would have been a bad game if any of the other Heroes games had never existed, but imo. it is by far the worst of the series.

This.

Out of all the games that I have played, my least favorite would have to be H3. :/ Don't ask why, as any response I make or reasons I give someone will say "But you are wrong because of XYZ," as if I share their opinion on the subject. H5 ToTE was my favorite with H4 coming in second, since my favorite part of any game is the campaign.

Whoever says that H4 had a bad campaign has not played through them... but I am slightly annoyed with the game's looks and balancing, which is why ToTE beats it for me. That and infernopolis (though that isn't really that bad IMO...)
