Taking Utopia

I am able to take on an Utopia which is not full with tower and a medium to rich map in week one with 100% difficulty. Most newbs do not know this is possible. I wonder if other veterans, such as Frank knows this.

i don't know any veteran who plays at 100%, 99% games are at 130% or higher.
you better attach save or map so people can try to do the same.
probably you are talking about situation when dragons hit each other multiple times so you can reduce them by few scouts, but dragons are unpredictible at 130 difficulty or higher.

In theory all kind of crazy things are possible.

It would become impresive only depending of the situation.

So, your claims may impress only some newcomers. Most of the users will uphold their oppinion for after the details are revealed.

HOMM3 Tactics Part II

...i hope will forgive me that i started a new threat, but the old one did get to long and to much blah now in it .

Ease down an Utopia:

Well in most TOH games u really dont have to fear to go into the Utopia, Most of the time ull have a great hero, some great arts out of water or else and tons of resources to buy enough army to get into any utopia..maybe u loose some lvl1-3 but who cares about them.

BUT...sometimes..

...u only find eagle eyes on water
...loose some creatures in a stupid fight
...in your mageguild occur waterwalk instead of ressurrect
.... have only crappy heroes and no might in sight
and so on and on.

So the last thing that can save u is an Utopia. But u note if u go in this Utopia ull lose far to many creatures again (Especially if uve tower or rampart creatures).

So with this little trick u can ease down an utopia without to many losses (only on 100%):

Send in a scout with the following stacks:

for gras: 5 1 3 1 4 2 1 = 17 (for example zombies from a camp)

for other underground: 2 5 1 3 1 4 1 = 17 (for example imps from second town)

This combinations will let the dragons cross their ways and u can make...

..(on gras) the greens and reds strike and kill one blacky.

...(other) the greens strike and kill one goldy.

At this time of game ull have already bought your scouts, so u need no money for this. Only maybe for the creatures but they are cheap.... so u lose only crap ull never need instead to lose some essential parts of your army. Repeat this so often u wish. Each time a dragon will fade away and ease down your Utopia.

If u wish u can continue it as follows:

to kill Goldies on Gras: 1 4 1 2 3 1 1 = 10 (for example skeltons for free out of external dwelling)

to kill Blackies on other: 2 4 1 1 1 3 1 = 10 (for example useless goblins from refugee camp).

After this u can even continuing and kill some of the only left standing reds and greens. This can be made twice per scout...but this combination will stay my secret .

Theoretically u can eliminate a 5 Black Utopia with 11 Scouts about 200 Lvl1 and two times deemer/aislinn with some spellpower/points entering it.

Ok i hope this was worth enough to explained here, were already some very nice tricks were given.

See u all in the zone,

This costs a fortune, not an option on Impossible or on poor maps. I was expecting some glamorous strategy which allows you to clear the Utopia with 1 Gremlin. I am disappoint.

Was it not in the opening post where it states a medium to rich map? and on 100%.? BTW with tower you lose less, because with master gremlins they attack it instead on gremlins, when it is the same number.

However, I have not tried whether it works on 130%.

You may need even less. Like perhaps 100 upgraded and non upgraded lvl ones, with ten scouts, and finally in with naga and giants. Your combination does not seem to reduce reds at one go too.(careful about reducing too much greens too early. They are needed to kill the blacks.)

U can do it even on 130-200%, but thats hell of tricky cause you have to place the dragons correct on second round.

Still it is worth it as it ALWAYS works, as the dragons in an Utopia do not have morale (two different alighnments)and will ALWAYS act the same.

So lets say you play an 2SM4d on 160% or higher it will enable you to get into your Utopia maybe 5 days earlier, which can mean you win.

This "strategy" is fun and everything but in a real game it is practically useless.

With the scouts only costing no less than 25k gold, I guess the opponents is supposed to sit and wait for you to clear the Utopia. Presumably the Utopia itself is close to your starting position too. Way too convenient.

Looks like you have no idea what you are talking about.

Killing 5 Black with 5 scouts you do have anyway, with starting troups fodder you do have anyway, making it possible to enter an Utopia 5 days earlier than your opponent, is almost a game winner.

Besides the money you earn (you can easily rebuy the sacrified scouts), you will have lots of experience 5 days EARLIER then your opponent on your main, plus the artefacts that youve gained 5 days EARLIER then your opponent, plus the less main troups youve lost.

Still i think i couldnt convince close-minded, but its not ok to tell others that are willing to improve their game play, that it is "useless".

Its a strong and great advice and someone who did this once, will always do it afterwards.

I thought the topic was about taking utopias in week 1. In which case this strategy is not something you can implement.

Also i am bothered by this statement:

"So with this little trick u can ease down an utopia without to many losses (only on 100%):"

If it only works on 100% anyway it is useless since noone plays that difficulty.

Ok, i believe it is possible to do that under certain circumstances. I still however do not think this is a tactics that will see a lot of play, if only for the fact that you actually need all your heroes to be around the utopia to make it work. Also, you will not often have 100+ units to spare, nor the army to actually kill the remaining dragons.

It would be cool if you can pool this off in the second week on some maps, but i have my doubts about it. On week 3 you can use it to reduce the dragon count (suffer less losses) but in general in week 3 your army should be able to kill the dragons while losing mostly fodder if you simply enter the utopia directly with your main hero.

The cost of the secondaries should also be taken into accout, as you will need scouts for revealing the map and chaining army.

Has this been tested with ALL factions? Because dragons will move differently regardless shooters and two hex units.

This trick can be usefull. No argument here. The argument is how often you can do it in real game.

In order to sacrifice 5 scouts, you need practicly your whole chain to be involved in the operation. Sometimes this may slow your development so much, as to negate the bonus of the utopia.

The closest the utopia is to a town of yours, the easiest is to implement the plan.

Its worth knowing this trick, but it will not be that often you use it.

main problem will be that dragons will most likely move differently each time. Just don't forget to restart your "random seed" number if you will do tests.
If you are lucky enough to get stable results with different seed numbers - just post a save so we can test it too.

Of course the dragons move differently if there are shooters or 2-Hex Creatures. You need 1-Hex Creatures.

But...

...you can even decrease the amount of creatures you need to ease down the Utopia. Lets say if you replace Gremlins with Gargoyles the complete amount of creatures decrease if you know how to place them, same if you do have mastergremlins (shooter) and normal grems.

But...

..that would be to complicated. So the easy formations you find stated above is easy to reread if you prepare to ease down an Utopia.
