Apparently,in StarCraft2,you will get banned for cheating in single player.

Many users, who used cheats in single player, got to face the banhammer because, according to Blizz, single player cheating affects the multilayer.
This amazing affection comes from the fact that Achievements unlocked in single player are also displayed in MP.
So people who wanted to skip some of the boring parts in SP,yes there were some extremely boring parts, now cant access the game at all.

One of the most amazing responses from Blizz support can be read below

Quote:

Thank you for contacting Blizzard Customer Support. As you may have noticed, a lot of websites have been posting information that we are banning single player cheaters. And while this information is true, there is a good reason for it. When you cheat in single player mode, the achievements that you earn directly affect your multiplayer standing. While we do realize that once you buy our games, they become your property, we do reserve the right to terminate your game at any time whenever we feel it is necessary. I hope this has cleared up any confusion.

--From http://www.cheathappens.com/article_blizzardbans.asp

So,by directly affecting multiplayer, they mean showing your achievements online. No ladder,no MP points standing is affected.

How amazing from Blizz.

On the other hand,we have similar situation with Origin.EA's own version of steam.
Origin was reported to scan a computer for "Beneficial info".
This is confirmed by EULA in which you have to agree in order to play all new EA published games.Basically, they are taking info from your computer.

While Origin has been confirmed to be sniffing around the programs and other relevant info the consumer has used,no one can be angry of this because it is written in the EULA.

This caused major frutration in Amazon. Many users gave 1 out of 5 to BF3 for using Origin.

More info can be found on the link
http://www.cinemablend.com/games/EA-Says-Origin-Isn-t-Spyware-Although-It-Does-Scan-Your-Entire-PC-36690.html

The moral of the story is:READ the damned EULA before buying a game. You may have signed for experimentation on your body if you are not careful nowadays.
By the way,ALL new EA games will use Origin including Dragon Age 3,Mass Effect3 etc.
This policy is also evident to why EA supports SOPA/PIPA.

So,if you are content on a program gathering sensitive info from your hard drive,go ahead.

Also, the E3 convention is one of the "Money pipes" for SOPA.
http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/01/esa-sopa/
They dropped support but not without screams from the world.

Edit:

Sorry for the Mess,it was intended to be an article about game EULAs and not SC2 only.

Well, I agree, this is downright retarded. If they really wanted to, disabling the "achievements" for cheaters would be enough (most games that use achievements system have built in cheats but the use of them disables high score, achievements and so on - it's been like that for ages).

But downright banning people? Lol.

I am really amazed on how far this bullsnow can go. Sad part is I want to get Diablo III

I'm glad that I use a console for FPS games and high demand RPGs, but this is really going to mess with my ROTWK and future Mass Effect 3 experience. .

Is there anyway to read the Terms of Agreement before buying a game? Though I suspect this crap is coined on every EA published game

If it's all about multiplayer, then why not only ban this person from accessing multiplayer function? This is way disrespectful to the customers.

As I never use cheats, I won't get affected. I don't understand why someone would use them too. But anyway, that's not the point.

Cheating in singleplayer should not affect multiplayer, As Seraphim said skipping boring missions using cheats is really common with all games, you should not be banned from multiplayer for that.

Check this site.
http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas

Its just for EA games and i dont know if this is possible for other companies.

Though as I said, all forthcoming games, published under the EA banner, will be with Origin.

Well, you shouldn't be, but they are doing it. So, what I'm saying is, if they ban the user who cheated in sp from the entire game, only for the sake of his/her mp standing, then why not banning this person from only mp (as this is the important thing for their ban) not enough? Let the person play the sp at least.

Don't you think its more reasonable from banning him/her altogether?

You know, I really wouldn't want to see times where developers can ban you from a SINGLE PLAYER GAME you PAID THEM FOR because you DON'T PLAY IT AS THEY LIKE.

This gotta be the biggest joke ever.

Such bulls***s are an open advertisement for the piracy in all forms. You have to agree to be lose most of your game's functionality, to have some spyware installed on your computer, to be told to shove off by the support people when asking why is all this... Makes the cracker groups look like the champions of morale. Good work corporate world, do carry on with your attempts to lose your remaining valid points in the fight against piracy, you're scoring excellent results lately.

I do agree the anti-piracy fight has taken a completely wrong turn. Instead of making legal software a much more interesting option, most corporations decided they shall just crush the users (legal and illegal both) under their heel and the power of their lobbies. Not just that, but they also feel inclined to introduce some sort of pecking order, with the customer right next to "garbage" tier...

It's like a notebook manufacturer would come to your house and tear it to shreds because he doesn't appreciate you draw a caricature of the teacher in it...

With SOPA around (and its lesser cousins like ACTA) piracy will probably go back to the underground with Russian immigrants selling games undercover on the street

While it is of some sort of sad comfort that UbiHole are not the only mor.. ... people who act in a very puzzling manner ... in game developing business, it is still incredibly that these people think they can just walk right over the ones who supply them their money without caring at all.

Dont get me started on SC2. Not only can i not access single player features when im not signed in to my Battle.net account, but now i cant even use a damn cheat if i feel like raping zerg with 50 battlecruisers?

I mean, the fact that you have to sign in to play a single player campaign is bad enough. Yeah i know theres a "guest" mode, but it sucks. To play SC2 offline you need to set it up over battle.net first, then to top it off that only stays active for 30 days. Meaning after 30 days you need to sign in again to keep offline mode working. Do you know how annoying it is when you havnt played SC2 for a while, its tuesday (Blizzards server maintainance night), which means i cant play WoW, so i decide to play a little SC2. Ooops, cant play as a guest because you cant authenticate...

Now i find out i cant muck around with some cheats in single player because ill get banned? Seriously, what a joke. Mp and SP modes should be completely separate

Man this makes my blood boil.
Banning online access due to cheating online = acceptable
Banning online access due to cheating offline = stupid
