Yeah problem was most pictures I like were big to begin with.. When I would resize them they would lose clarity and be kinda of dull pixelated which I was trying to avoid since the pictures seemed to looked pretty good as is for the 256 color limit.
If I redo them I'll see if the small ones can be made better.
Thanks for testing them.. Some of that darkness you talking about could be the transparent pixel problem.. I noticed a couple were really bad practically entire background was gone replace with the brown backdrop of that slot.

I really don't know what could be the cause of you problem.. Perhaps someone else can help with that.. Most the scripting and stuff in this game are beyond what I understand right now.
Do the heroes work in game? Just not with the editor? Could be an editor conflict with these maybe.. IDK..

I really don't know what could be the cause of you problem.. Perhaps someone else can help with that.. Most the scripting and stuff in this game are beyond what I understand right now.

They don't work in editor and in the game. So I thinks it isn't editor's fault.

I found a way how to deal with the transparent pixel problem. Heroes aplication use the last color of the indexed color table for transparent information. I convert RGB to INDEXED in 255 colors (not in 256!). It works!

Yeah, I looked thru those settings trying to figure out a way to script coverting it to indexed but I never found exactly what I wanted..
Could you upload the script and post it here in a link? It would really help when I get back to redoing my portraits..

I have some scripts for several different tasks. First I make the portraits in single psd file, separate by groups, then I use javascript to export all groups in jpg files and multirename them. After that I use automate batch action script in photoshop to convert in indexed colors, big and small picture, and save them in pcx. Here is the *.atn file:

I don't know if it works for you, but it makes easy.
Finally, I using flash action script to sort images in a table that you see in preview
