When trying to run h3era.exe (v2.46), I'm getting an error:
Quote:
Assert violation in file "D:SoftProgrammingDelphiSourceSRCUnits_OLDER_GameExt.pas" on line 407.
Error at address: $36A18A5.

I'm running it on Linux through Wine. A few (hopefully) relevant files are here.

I'm also using an unionfs setup to keep various stuff separate, but since it works fine with both vanilla and HD patch, I don't think that's the issue.

Huh, seems adding era/Mods/WoG to the union made it work. I guess it's some kind of issue with ERA's virtual FS.

I'd like a fix to this too.

Huh, it seems it isn't happening anymore. That's weird. Sagamosa is buggy as hell, though, which is a shame.

Sagamosa is broken and was never fixed. When reporting errors please specify which mods you use, not all are compatible with each others, read the readmes etc

Seems Mods/list.txt needs to have CRLF line endings, or you'll get an assert violation. Because it can't parse the mod list, it fails to parse the list, and thus doesn't know what WoG is, so it can't find angel.dll (not sure what that is, though).

Now it seems Era and HD Patch refuse to cooperate... HD Launcher+h3era.exe doesn't apply any patches at all (acts like running h3era.exe without HD), and a patched Era exe crashes when starting (before the window appears) with certain mods active. The four default mods always appear to work, while other mods seem to be random. Some of them might work sometimes, but not on next start.

h3era.exe works, but y'know, that one doesn't have the HD patches, so it's pretty worthless.

Still running through Wine.

Era and HD work fine, you are doing something wrong. I will ask again, can you paste your list of active mods here?

Mod list:

WoG
Secondary Skills Scrolling
Fast Battle Animation
Yona
Unhotify
Advanced Battle Hints
Estates displayed
magechest
Map advanced Infos
Neutrals split
Hero Advanced Level Up
Spells uncovered
Disposable Spell-Scrolls
Resolve battle
Voodoo harpies
WoG Revised
WoG PLUS
Adventure Pillars

The first four work fine, but the rest are rather unstable.

I'll post my era.ini as well for good measure.

Ok first of all, WoG should be rock bottom. Then some mods you use I do not know or never used (voodoo harpies, wog plus and a few others...). Check the readme files and descriptions from mod manager it may contain relevant info. My guess is you have conflicting mods.

WoG at the bottom? That doesn't really make sense IMO. Since it's pretty much required for any other mods to work, I'd assumed that it should be at the top so other mods can override its files if needed. Either that assumption was wrong, or maybe the priority just goes the other way? Either way, nothing in particular happened when I flipped the list.

As for conflicting mods, that's not very likely, because most of them crashed when it was just that one and the Original Four. I'd assume most mods are compatible with the prepackaged ones.

Galaad is right, priority goes from bottom to top. So WoG first, then WoG revised, then WoG plus (read wog plus description). However I wound 't recommend WoG plus because Majaczek, the author, considered its a good idea to pack inside several other mods, which are still presented as stand alone (adventure pillars) so you will get a clone with unstable scripts. Maybe the author can explain better about, I never use it.

With win 8 I have almost never crashes with WoG, would say 1 every 25 game play hours. But also I know how to mix mods. Your list is quite safe, with a reserve on wog plus and Heroes advanced level up, I heard that under certain OS/graphic card the last can cause a few problems. But for me is running ok.

Adventure pillars is for random maps only.

So it checks all directories top-to-bottom and stops when it finds an existing file?

Maybe I should try reinstalling the base game. (I'll have to wait until my brother gets home, though; he's the one with the CD reader.)

Advanced Level Up has always been quite stable for me (until this whole mess started yesterday), but it messes up the game font for some reason.

Oh, and does H3 create any files outside of the installation directory (in %home%/Documents or something)? If it does, that could potentially be causing some issues, because that's not cleared when I remove the wine prefix.

Yes, ERA files are DLLs. As for DLL editors, there is no such thing.

I think the only program that opens ERA plugins is ERA.

So... there is no way to open/edit ERA plugins? The plugin manager doesn't have any edit tools, only enable/disable options.

Unless you know how to use a disassembler and then edit the ASM, there's no way to edit DLLs or EXEs.
