It stops at monsters drop resources script. Someone else should test the save, on my system battle works fine.

Game crashes even if I disable that two Monster drop resources scripts. Sylvan Centaurs normally join your army when you load uploaded save?


EDIT: Problem is definetely related to Sylvan Centaurs. I've edited some maps (added Sylvan Cent.) and same crashes occurs.

EDIT2: Game crashes whenever I encounter WoG creatures. And everything works fine if I remove updated Monolith script. Does that variable requires new DLL or not?

yes they join, but I processed to battle for test. They wiped me but no crash. Monolith cost script is about when you visit one, nothing to have with battles. If you say the new v7311 crashes the game, maybe something is hardcoded with, no idea.

Try following: open monolith from wog revised and replace all v7311 with v7312, save then tell me if still crash. Both vars look unclaimed.

With v7312 crashes but with v7313 it doesn't crashes.

It worked last time I launched game.

Salamandre, are you using untouched ERA 2.4 installation or you have new versions of DLL files?

I don't know, didn't follow carefully if there were updates. Upload your save before crashing and ask Artu or JimV to test it, I see no reason for a crash by using a not claimed var.

It is a mystery to me. I don't get a crash from the saved game (crash.GM1). Also I can't find any reference to variables v7300-v7312 in any WoG script used in that game. v7300-v7310 are in the ERM Help List of the Claimed, but as far as I can tell, none of the original WoG scripts used those variables (and v7311-v7312 are not claimed). (I don't have many mods installed though.)

My wild guess is that the crash is due to something else, and the v73xx changes are incidental. Unfortunately, there are many, many ways to get crashes in Heroes 3 which can't be tested on a different computer. I have an old Heroes 3 folder which crashes to a blue screen after 15-30 minutes of play (unless I start Windows in Safe mode), and I used to hear many complaints about random crashes under Windows 7. (I think W7 Service Pack 1 fixed those.) (I plan to wait as long as possible before trying Windows 8.)

To test my wild guess, if possible transfer the saved game to a different computer and see if it still crashes there. Or you might make a new Heroes 3/Era folder on your computer and try it there.

Anyway, without a crash on my computer (maybe I haven't played the game long enough), there is not much I can do to investigate further.

P.S. I played the game under both Era 2.41 and Era 2.2 without a crash. (I think the game was started under Era 2.4.) (It should not be played in Era versions prior to 2.4 but I wanted to confirm that DLL issues are probably not involved.)

I think I've found cause of crashing. It is Unhotify mod.
When it is disabled there is no crahing in new games as well as in save I've uploaded.

This is my order of mods. I've already disabled Yona and my mod for white Diamond Dragon and Red Blood Dragon is disabled just to be sure that it isn't problem.

Fast Battle Animation
Secondary Skills Scrolling
Unhotify
New Objects Patch
Heroes 2 Objects
WoG Revised
Mithril Smelter

Now I don't understand anything because it worked before.

I'm really sorry, Draker. Unhotify was made quite a long ago before future Era updates. I think it has renamed frames in defs, like 0.pcx..N.pcx. The problem with such names is that when any mod uses standalone pcx with the same name, you will get a crash. Thus all def frames are cached by name(!) like independent images, while I was trying to unify those ugly names.

Ok then I propose to use v7300 for monolith, as it is noted as claimed but it is not. At least the erm help info will be true.

Actually, reason for crashing were missing PCX files for WoG creatures and commanders in avwattak.def, cprsmall.def, twcport.def.

I've updated unhotify.pac with those WoG 3.58f 3 defs and avwattak.msk and crashing is gone.

However, this fixed unhotify requires further testing.

I fixed some core bug on system level in Era and now game starts on Linux in Wine, but hangs in town/saving/... screens. Will possibly fix it with the help of SyDr. Anyway, this fact gives a hope for portability.

Hi im new and running into some issues trying to get HOL 3.0, 3.01, and 3.02 to all work at the same time. Now have some questions about this.
1) Is this possible?
2) how is this done?
Now my current issue with this is i have them all installed but i would have to run wog to get 3.01 and 3.0 to work and era to get 3.2 work. Along with this i would like to get the towns to work with these. I know there is the marine town to work with one of these for one of these for some reason it doesn't seem to work.

Also i do have the new objects patch for clarification.
Sorry if this is in the wrong location.

Thanks in advance for any help trying to get this to work.

Another newbie with a question.

After reading all of this, I get a feeling things have to be in a certain order to work.

So far, I have Heroes 3 Complete.
I have Heroes 3 Complete + WoG Map Editor 3.3 in another folder.
So I use the map editor there and same them SoD in my vanilla H3C /Data folder to play them.

If I were to get full WoG Era/the most updated version, is there a certain order of Updates I have to do from the Original WoG or can I just upload a recent patch and it'll change HOMM3 into the most recent WoG?
If I try loading WoG in the HoMM3 folder with the updated Map Editor, it gives my a list of stuff regarding integers... I haven't looked into it far, but it doesn't seem right.

Don't derail your current topic though, this is interesting to read. haha
