Common complaints:

1) I can not leave creatures near red tent

Answer: split one devil in one slot, because you will never be offered to leave your only stack, an hero can not exist without army.

2) My creatures can't get experience from battles, how to win?

Answer: there is new button in hero screen, near his name. Use it to train creatures.

3) I gave rebirth to devils but my single devils stack never resurrect

Answer: read the ability description: it says 20% of stack will rebirth. 20% from 1 is zero, you need minimum 5 creatures in stack to have rebirth.

4) Still rebirth does not work

Answer: rebirth is like cast. You need to give casting ability to same creature, in order to enable rebirth. It is specified in ability description

5) I can not forget the skill I want to the market of time

Answer:  To swap skills at market of time and bring a hidden skill in visible skills, use CTRL + left-click on experience icon, then accept when that skill is proposed. Then you forget it, and one slot is now free in visible skills, thus you can learn a new one.

6) Battles are too hard, I have xxx devils but no chance

Answer: with only devils, you have no chance. An inferno town has 7 creatures, use all of them for the right purpose

7) I have 30k+ demons but when I try to move them between heroes or simply change slot, they either vanish or lose all experience, what the hell?

Answer: this is infamous Heroes bug, will happen in all maps if big stacks. To avoid it, use SHIFT + split bar in the box opened when need to move stacks, or use split button, does same thing. You can also set their number manually. If they lose experience in the process, right click (in hero army screen only) on the stack moved to fix it (you will get a confirmation message)





8) I visit Pandora box after upgrading it to +10 and my hero dropped to level 0

Answer: The maximum level you can achieve in Heroes III by visiting trees or pandoras is 74. Additional levels can be gained only from combat experience. Thus you have to visit +10 Pandora when you are maximum at 64 level. Then get experience from fights, you will jump to 88, then 100, then finally 108 (max). V1.1 pandora boxes will not open if you are 64+, to avoid overflow

9) My gold or resources went to 0, I lost all treasury and I am now poor man

Answer: Heroes III can't handle milliards values. If you see your gold going near 99 millions, buy something or exchange at mitril market, to drop the value. You will need at least 9 market places to get the optimal exchange ratio. You can purchase market places from the haflings workshop -near Zydar town-

Pasis has admiral hat, he can summon a boat. Maybe on lower difficulty level he does not summon it, never tested.

Answer: this map is not a wog tutorial, quite the opposite. It requires you to know by heart wog mechanics, all of them. To swap skills at market of time and bring a hidden skill in visible skills, use CTRL + left-click on experience icon, then accept when that skill is proposed. Unfortunetly this is true only for 12 first skills. ( Commodus learn first aid as 15 skills and no matter how much i swap it doesn't show in market of time )

Yes, but if you know how it works, you will never have unwanted skill. Take only useful skills in first 8, then accept whatever comes for next 4. Leave fire magic for later, and when you reach additional universities, do the change. The last 4 skills, do not accept until something interesting is proposed.

Skills to have:

Log
Path
Wisdom
4 magic schools
Estates (if MoW)
Leadership/Ballistic
Luck/Tactics
Armorer
Offense
Intelligence

That makes 12 useful. If you can get tactics and ballistic in last four, then you are lucky, but game can be completed without.

sorry.. should have read the WHOLE text before asking stupid question.. I can see i have to restart the map all over again, to much time have past

How did you guys win over the swordsmen in the beginning with the 4 archdevils without taking ANY casualties? I always take 1 or 2, i had to cheat in the map editor to continue

That battle is even possible without even casting slow once. Cursed ground, a big obstacle in middle battlefield, no retal, wait feature...
Make them run from right to left, then from left to right, that's what they deserve.

I am playing on impossible and he didn't summon it. I could say that he was stucked because he didn't moved.

Anyway, I am on M9, W4, D4 and lord of devils is coming. Will his Arch devil have same bonuses and abilities as mine?

AI does weird things, so I had to do the following:

When Commodus reaches the fountain of youth, scripts checks if creature or artefact are on the square near the red tent, and if finds one, it will prohibit Pasis from going to sea. Pasis used to summon boat, then he remained for ever in water. But if you don't leave any creature or art, nothing prohibits Pasis to summon a boat. If he did not this, you are lucky, he always summoned one in my games.

Xeron will have exactly same devils as you. Bad surprise for those thinking MoD is a cake walk.

Devils have no retaliation...just don't hang on same square the next turn after you attack. Run away, make them move, Heroes basics.

Not cursed ground,but ground that allows you to cast earth at expert!
And you have forcefield even-from the tome of earth!!!
I dont use it though,I just use slow.

I still don't get it
Why we people always complaining about smth.
Instead of being negative and rush zillion questions one
can use own brain and eyes.
All that stuff is in one 1 page Readme file, maybe 2-3 things are Heroes mechanics, nothing too complicated for teenager, and I feel
like even Heroes vets are tending to harass Valery with not very smart questions

Probably my fault, as I played a lot of maps which break the mechanics limits, as Chaser, The Dragon Slayer, therefore I don't pay attention anymore to those bugs, all of them being fixable with a simple script.

Now, for people who never played those maps, it may look "buggy" to lose experience when moving big stacks, drop experience to zero, lose resources etc. But all those bugs are avoidable, just keep en eye on a few important things, and you will have no problems.

I could add important "bug" messages popping every month, but I preferred to add them in read_me, and leave map untouched. That read_me is required before playing, it takes a few minutes to read, you will lose much more time in game if not read it.

Mechanics

Again heroes mechanics-the modified frenzy doesnt work for a ranged attack,its works if the attack is melee.I tried it on the shooters.

No mechanics, it is my script who checks only for melee and modifies health. I did not add shooting ability to it because I did not imagine that someone will use the only chance he has on weak creatures as sharpshooters. Maybe I will modify to suit any attack, but usually I turn my shooters into demons late game, without wasting mithril on their stats, they will not stand 2 rounds against Maximus.

As far as I remember, HD mod requires you to select the executable to upgrade, I guess upgrading h3era.exe should do the work, but never tried because the dialogs were hard readable then.
