HoMM 5 Random Map Generator

Hey all!

Is there a way to set up the random map generator to make certain resources scarce? I want to make an impossible map that opponents have difficulty making top tier creatures on.

I figure I can create a custom map with the editor, but I was curious if it can be done directly from the RMG.

I should point out that there are things I don't quite understand with the RMG - such as what the Resource category actually does. I've done a few searches on the Intertubes, but so far I've found nothing.

Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks!

You have to use the Map Editor, in your program menu, there should be something called Map Editor or in your Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\bin\ directory, use the file H5_MapEditor.exe (ie. don't run the game).

In Map Editor, go to "Tools" menu & select "Create Random Map",
a pop-up will appear.  In the Resources, you can choose between
"Miserable", "Little", "Normal", "Lots", "Much" [ordered from least to most resources]

There are some other customisations in there too.

For little bit more info, go to
Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Editor Documentation\ directory and
read the pdf HOMM5_RMG_Tutorial.pdf

Note: the map size you choose will determine which Template you can choose.  The Template you choose will determine how many players are possible on the map.  I haven't used all the Templates but the ones with 2M in last two letters seem pretty good.  Would be good if people knew what each Template did without having to experiment each one.

btw when you just have questions requiring short answers that do not need to turn into long threads, it's best to use the Questions Topic & FAQ thread instead of starting a new thread for every single question [to avoid cluttering up the forum].

Hi guys I have a question.

Is there anyway to convert a RMG map into a single player map so that I can use them in a campaign? I want to play some random maps but be able transfer my hero from map to map.

I have tried:

Setting only player 1 to Human and the rest to Computer and resaving the map so that it loses its RMG tag.

Still won't show up in the Campaign mission map list.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you.
