Hi,

I tried your Academy retexture, but somehow, using it in my UserMOD slowed the game considerably. The game became sluggish in my laptop. I use Asus A43s i3 2GB RAM, with win7 32 bit. If I move the Academy file out of UserMOD, the game was restored to its original speed. I never found this problem with several mods (RPE, EE, xuxo's terrain retexture). Did I do something wrong?

I just noticed that whenever I create a zip archive, rename it to .h5u and place it in userMods the game always crashes on startup. I tried with this mod, and first it started reporting "missing pointers" to practically all creatures and then it finally crashed with "Error: could not find original game Heroes of Might and Magic V". I then tried renaming a working mod (static menu background) to zip, extracting it and compressing it back and renaming it back to h5u and guess what: game crashes. Just renaming a working mod back and forth seems to work so apparently something goes wrong with the compressing, possibly because I'm doing all of this on MacOSX but I don't see what's the difference in just making a simple zip archive...

Anyway, I can't seem to get it to work. I'll probably have to find a windows machine somewhere... *sigh*

Meanwhile I guess I could just admire the screenshots and picture it in my head when i play .

What's your video card?
Sorry but this is graphics overhaul so a good comp is required.

Maybe your video card does not support sharpened textures but just low quality ones.

Hmm.
From what you say it seems you either extracted the whole wrong (which would explain the "missing" messages) or you have the infamous problem where your OS reads H5U files as RARs and thus H5U mods won't work.

In the first case, try doing the unpacking again.
In the second, I think the only solution might be removing the "open with winwar" flag from H5U files, but since you use Mac I don't know, I've never used a Mac in my life.

Hope you guys get the mod fixed

I actually tried extracting it at least twice with the exact same results. I even redownloaded the whole thing. I don't think there is a problem with unpacking, never had this before and I did try extracting it with two different programs.

I'm pretty sure the OS adds some extra recsources to the archives or files when zipping it. I do recall having this same problem when I tried to translate the EE_options_text.pak to finnish. When I archived it on the Mac it didn't work. I then opened that archive on a windows comp and it did actually include hidden OSX storage files. Compressing in windows did the trick that time but now our windows computer is dead so I can't use it. I did try archiving the files with an option "exclude mac resource forks" but no difference. By the way I get the same results with both original exe and AIadv_31j.exe.

My father is putting together a new windows machine so I could try it on that one once it's finished.

Looks like you have a TrollMac
Hopefully you can get a friend to do the thing for you on a Win pc, because I don't see many other options...

Your graphics card is not the problem, it's good enough and better than most....

@Falconian -> Is this the final product (the 3 parts) so are you finished with this? Want to download now and check it out....

Well, technically, I'm the one who's trolling because I'm pretty sure they didn't intend people to run the windows version on non-windows systems in the first place .

It shouldn't be a huge problem to find another computer to do this little task on, though. I could even try it on our linux machine just to see if that works (yes I have access at home to both Mac and linux but not to windows). Of course, if someone could upload the entire mod in h5u format this would not be a problem, but I realize that it's probably too large not to be uploaded in parts.

If it's not because of my graphic card, do you know what might wrong, then? I'd love to use this mod

I have downloaded and extracted the full version. The Emerald Dragon made me drool Unfortunately, with the lagging speed I experience, I can't continue using the mod. So, if there any solutions, I'd be grateful.

Have you tried changing the video settings in-game or updating your GPU drivers?

I unpacked them with ZipGenius.
when you add to archive, you are creating a zip file right?
Then all you do is rename the extension from .zip to .h5u right?

As Fauch said you don't need to do it anymore since TotE.
