Mandate of Heaven Obelisks
Playing the original unpatched HOMM3.
In the "Mandate of Heaven" map, whenever my character nears an obelisk, a weird message window pops up, consisting of random letters and underscores.
Is this merely a bug in the map, or is it some kind of easter egg code unique to the "Mandate of Heaven" quest?

A feature, not a bug.  When you assemble them all together, put them in Notepad or something and read them vertically. Or if you just want the solution, here it is.

One more question. Your link goes to a MM6 page. So the same "feature" appears in both the HOMM3 map and in MM6?
