Earth, Air, Fire, Water Magic

I have heard some people say that Earth and Air magic are better than Water and Fire magic. Earth magic may be the best, because of town portal, cheaper implosion, slow, cheaper resurrection/animate dead, force field, earthquake (against castle sitters), the problem I find with earth magic spells is that many of the spells are basic or only good in some cases like earthquake. (except for town portal, which is always THE BEST SPELL)

Exp prayer is very good, expert clone on archangles (Ouchie!), there's nothing to shake a stick at exp cure either, esp. if your ancient behemoths were just beserked or blinded, dispel is very good too, if there are no beneficial spells for you on the battle field and especially if your opponent just cast anti-magic on his level 7's. Many people never think about this, but expert summon boat doesn't even need a boat to exist on the map in order to summon one.

The most effective high level benefits of expert magic is fire. Expert beserk is incredible, especially against an opponent who has tactics and doesn't know that you have it. They will be killing themselves and will have nothing to do about it. Expert frenzy... need I say more? Exp. Slayer, curse, land mine, fire wall(great to protect shooters)

The ones I like is expert Anti-Magic, Town Portal, Prayer and Chian Lightning! There's nothing like Expert Earth with Implosion!  Yes, Clone is deadly with AA's! Mass Slow ic cool too.

I really have fun with the Armor of the Damned combo artifact! It just rocks the house! Casts Expert:

1. Weakness
2. Slow
3. Curse
4. Misfortune

Although little increase in your primary skill!

Well...

...they are. Don't get me wrong, none of the magic schools is actually bad, they are all very desirable secondary skills, but Earth and Air are... well, preferrable
Simply because they contain winner spells: Dimension Door / Fly and Town Portal / Resurrection.
Expert Air lets you cast DD four times a day!!!
Or in Fly one can fly out all his movement points.
Expert Earth (or even advanced) lets you TP to any allied town - a superb defensive spell (serves well for recruiting too). Note that there's a drastic difference between no or only basic Earth Magic.
Also, advanced or expert Earth Magic not only boosts Resurrection, but lets you really resurrect your units (they remain even after the battle).
Oops, forgot about those direct damage - doers: Chain Lightning and Implosion.
There are also "beloved" low level mass spells: Slow and Haste.
Water and Fire Magic Schools can't match this, be it that Expert Clone + Archangels is a deadly combo
Uhm... Land Mine? I don't think I ever cast that one

Expert beserk is just as good as any damage spell at the beginning of battle, because if you have castle or inferno, then all of their really fast units can be beserked and then you just wait until they destroy themselves. Then you can cast it again the next turn and they will do it all over again, very good if attacking a town. Why fight them when they can do it themselves.

Also, many maps in TOH have removed dimension door and fly. Sacrifice replaces resurrection and is much better unless you want to do it to you level 1's or 2's, but the total health gained with expert fire magic is twice that of normal sacrifice.

I agree that earth and air spells are great, but I don't think that they are better than other types of magic. I'm suprised no one mentioned expert counterstrike. All of your creatures retaliate extra times!

Last time I checked, anti-magic means ANTI-MAGIC... meaning a creature that has anti-magic cast on it cant be dispelled of the ANTI-MAGIC, since the anti-magic makes it immune to dispel...

selecting the 4 types of magic depends on which town you play.... some examples
water... castle town.... expert clone on arcangels
air ... stronghold.... expert haste rulez
fire... necro or dungeon... expert berserk and armageddon
earth.. all towns

of course there are millions variety but my favorite is to cast expert berserk to stronghold units( no offence hexa)

Now that I think about it. Mass protection from fire then cast armagedon over and over. Or you can cast mass protection from air in the middle of combat allowing you cast chain lightning.

Dispel is targeting the spell anti-magic not the creature. Anti-magic protects only the creature.
