Here is the detective... And I will guess immediately - the real name of Xenophanes is... NATHANAEL! Yes, I really think so. For now I won't say why I decided that this is the answer... the detectives also make mistakes after all!

Just a helpful hint(actually, a lesson in Latin grammar, but anyways):
Latin masculine words always end in "us." For example: lupus(wolf), servus(slave/servant), and fatuus(idiot). Therefore, male Latin names will always end in "us."
Laks, you have come closer than anyone here. Yes, Davius is the Latinized form of David. Or, at least, I am pretty sure it is, because "Davus" is another form, however, this usually refers to a slave, so a proper Roman man would be called "Davius" instead of "Davus."
Unfortunately for everyone, Davius is an Academy Hero, therfore he is not named after me, since "my" Hero(if I may be so bold) is an Asylum Sorcerer.
Keep it up!

Xenophanes, I hope your name is not Theodor because Theodorus was in Heroes 3 as well so they took it from the previous game and not from your name...
If your name is not Theodor, that's good. But I see, mon ami, that you say two opposite things so you lie.
At first you said: "Since I won't reveal my real name here, though, you'll just have to wait. I'll give you a hint, though - the Hero is male, and comes from the Asylum." OK. But then you said: "Unfortunately, I was just looking at Absolute Games' Heroes IV Hero web pages, and it turns out - and I'm never gonna hear the end of this - the hero is from ACADEMY rather than Asylum!!!! Oy vey! I can't believe it - he looked so much like a Sorcerer, but it turns out he's a Lord! My apologies to any dreams I may have shattered(though it's probably just my own). You can guess now, I suppose, on what Hero I thought was named after me. Sorry" Well, you are excused. But what is this you said in the end?
"Unfortunately for everyone, Davius is an Academy Hero, therfore he is not named after me, since "my" Hero(if I may be so bold) is an Asylum Sorcerer."
How does that happen? At first you claim that your hero is from Asylum, then - from Academy and finally - again from Asylum. What does that mean? That you lie intentionally in order not to let us solve the crime???
But there are no mysteries that I can't solve. At first you said that you hero was Sorcerer, then - Lord and finally - again Sorcerer. You "generously" gave us a hint that the hero's name ends with "us"... and fallin your own trap. Because there is no Asylum Sorcerer with a name that ends with "us"! But I decided to look at the Thieves - the Asylum Might heroes. And... there is a Thief named RUFUS. Yes, he looks like a thief but can also be assumed to be a sorcerer. Anyway, there is no other "us" ending hero name in the Asylum.
Then I looked for a Latin-English dictionary. I found such and it said that RUFUS means: "red, ruddy".
I was flabbergasted because I thought there wasn't such name as Red. But I decided to search in Google. There are people named Red Johnson, Red Jackson and Red Smith. So there IS such name!
And the answer is:
The real name of Xenophanes is RED.

Whoops. Sorry about that Wyvern - I was posting that late at night. The Hero that I thought was named after me is now from Academy. However, I do not believe anymore that the Hero was named after me, since it is from Academy.
No, my name is not Theodor.

Grrr... Xenophanes, you should be arrested for committing perjury!
OK, I'll try to find your hero in Academy... but I hope you didn't write your post late at night...
Let's assume that your hero is Lord... because you said so.
But... the only Lord whose name ends with "US" is Davius and you said he's not your hero. Then there is only one answer:
Your hero's name doesn't end with "US"!!! Actually, you have never said it does. But why did you tell us about the Latin words ending with "US" then? To confuse us even more??? Please, tell me DOES your hero (although you don't think it's yours anymore) have a name, ending with "US" or not? I can't make investigations without knowing this.
