Modding is fun, everyone does graphics and it is shinny and nice. Then it comes the technical part-which all of us had to do- so being rude and precious will not help you. Luckily, I had the tools to clean your upload and arrange the folders properly (ever heard of Data folder?) in order to work. Be happy then.

being rude and precious? guy, i was expressing my anger over my .txt file STILL not working, and i wasn't directing my attitude AT anyone, unlike your comment. how exactly was i being rude OR precious, by expressing myself? you better be trolling, salamandre.

that being said, thanks again for you help. i was using an older template i had put together to put the file in the right sequence of folders. and i had also been up for over 30 hours, so i wasn't exactly in the best frame of mind.

still, calling someone precious who is rightfully pi**ed off doesn't HELP. i hope you don't talk to people in real life like that. that isn't healthy.

If you wouldn't express yourself with obscenities to your mother, maybe you shouldn't do so here either, in a public forum where somebody's mother may be reading. It is considered to be rude where I come from. And unhelpful.

May I ask are most of the versions on the front page the newest ones or I have to browse this whole thread and others to find them?! I am finding Fast/Better AI mod and Sagamosa mod (bug fix) at the moment, thank you.

i DO express myself with obscenities to my mother, if you're wondering. and i feel worried for anyone who feels offended by *censored* obscene language. there are many more pressing matters at hand in the world of human beings that are more worthy of being offended by. sadly, people aren't really offended by THEM. they consider them a "part of life". what people are willing to accept is a real problem with me.

but whatever, i can only scream at the problem, it goes nowhere. and this forum really isn't the place for it, i would agree with you. so lets get back to why i'm angry-

i created a text file that didn't work. which means that any further text file i create will. not. work. when you guys made mods that included a .txt file that had to be read by the game, how did YOU create it? from scratch in notepad? or did you use objtexteditor? did you really have to have 2 of the same process open, and copycat one so you could have a duplicate? (obviously this question isn't posed to salamandre, he has his scripts)

(i bolded the stuff that i really want to be read, the rest is immaterial)

Front page hasn't been updated for a while. Sagamosa fixed isnt released yet, afaik. Fast AI is old, Better AI is new. Just search thread page by page. An update would be nice by the way. At least replacing duplicate stuff and singling out the latest versions of HOL, WoG Revised, Grove Town and Better AI.

The intention of obscenities and curses is to offend/outrage. That is why they were invented. Like any other set of words, they can lose effect or even meaning as they become common, but they are not common on this site or in many households.

The poet Allen Ginsberg once used such words on a man who took offense and punched him. "Why," asked Ginsberg, "I only used words?"

"Maybe so," the man replied, "but in these parts those are fighting words."

The moral is: don't expect others to share or even understand your cultural values.  Especially if they violate site rules.

I have used text files with Heroes in three ways:

1) A README file for a Mod, to be displayed in the Era Mod Manager. I have found by trial and error that it must be in the top folder of the Mod (e.g., in the HiddenSpells folder for the Hidden Spells mod) and must have the exact filename README.txt - otherwise it will not be read. I create this with Notepad (standard text editor).

2) A data file of parameter values, to be read by an ERM script, as for script57JV. I created this with Notepad also.

3) The text files in H3Bitmap.lod which contain Heroes data and messages.  These must be edited with TxtEdit (one of the Tools in the Era 2 package) because they use special characters for formatting, which are invisible in Notepad.

And we have the story of Can Yucel, a well-known poet. He is on trial for calling a respected politician an ass in one of his poems, so he tells this story to the judge:
A peasant goes to the doctor and he prescribes him a bougie, saying you must take this the anal way. The peasant looks back at him blank so the doctor says, "you'll have to put it in your rectum" but the peasant is still clueless. Finally the doctor says: Shove it up your ass man!
Yucel ends his defense: Your honor, where I come from we call an ass an ass.

Writers seem to think of curse words as another tool in their box naturally (click), but the moral is: You can use many curse words and not insult anyone or the opposite; you can insult someone with using "proper" words:
- If I was your wife I'd put poison in your tea.
- Madam, if I was your husband I'd gladly drink that tea.

When someone says his anger wasn't aimed at anyone and he used **** signs, so not violating site rules, i think it's time to let it go.

install: unzip to mods and enable in modloader (have to be above WoG Revised).

Description: contains fixes from SU and ERA to wogify script (new library functions/macros - compatibility with SU scripts), new spell and artifact banning options (from SU), better compability with custom maps (SU fix - customized in mapamaker objects won't be replaced), updated mithril enchancements script to SU version(solved compability issue with rightclicking), updated castle upgrading script to SU version(solved balance issue - script is not so pathethic now!)

it was shortly tested so should be fine but i cannot prove it bug-free yet. any bugtesting welcome. It contain only 3 updated scripts - it's not full SU-conversion (if I remember other scripts were minor changes in SU and bugfixes already in ERA so it should be enough for now I suppose). Compatible with WoG Revised. Contains Custom Zsetup00.txt and Zsetup01.txt.

thanks, artu. it's good to see that someone understands what i was getting at.

and, after re-reading rule #2, i can see that i wasn't "cursing right". i'sa fall back into line, massah, yes massah. anything you say, massah.

it really bothers me that some people find rightful anger expressed in words to be so offensive. you don't see me sharing my two cents, or jumping on someone here unless they are directly antagonizing me. but whatever. i guess i can understand how people can be so offended by words, even when it isn't directed at anyone. no wait, I CAN'T.

majaczek, can you list what SU patch does in detail. And when you edit Zsetup01.txt can you do it on the last update please, otherwise, i edit the typos all over again.

i see badge of courage and undead cloak can be banned also, a list and also a readme file for the mods manager to use would be nice.

the info box of castle upgrading is exactly the same. what changed? can you put it in the info box editing Zsetup01.txt?

oops artu, i forgot to patch this part of zsetup01.txt (I always hate editing zsetup txt files because of weird formatting which is unacceptable for my diff/merge tool).

changes to castle upgrading are: each subsequent upgrade of same thing costs more and more. For example mithril gold reserve starts from 7000g2m then 9500g2m etc. if you upgrade in the same town. The point is upgrading it for 145000g22m is not so profitable but theorethically it is still possible to upgrade infinitely. Also each upgradeable thing counts separate so it forces player to upgrade not only capital town. The upgrading of creature income have got similair tweak, but there each dwelling counts separate so instead having grow +20 on titans player would rather add some nagas and gremlins too. Also again having more than one town is profitable since first upgrade is much cheaper than fifth.

The number 145000g22m is real number from very late upgrade i saw since AI has a chance of building upgrade for free. So taking AI capital is nice .

the mithril enchancement and castle upgrading script is taken as is from SU. Wogify script is merged from ERA one (more precisely WoG revised one) and SU one and I'm almost sure I didn't miss anything (but please test if all banning options work as should). Zsetup01.txt is very roughly (imprecisely) merged one from WoG Revised and SU. Note that it was hard to merge for several reasons, counting in: a formatting which my merge tool boycots, too much tiny changes done in WoG Revised (all script number changed to match new era numbers), SU patch beeing a mod which upgrades only 3 scripts to be SU-compatible (so not all descriptions have to be merged). If someone volounteers he/she may upload an update with Zsetup files updated to fit better.

PS: there was one line in wogify script I was not sure if to include or not and I let it out thinking ERA left it out on purporse, hope I guessed right, rest I'm almost sure is as should be. The aim was for wogify to include fixes from both ERA and SU, and include most important for me upgrades of the scripts (anyway most bugfixes from other scripts are already in era). there is also library.bad file which is failed attempt to make patch not touching wogify script - it seems impossible for me.

PPS: there are more claimed variables and macros than in ERA, but the profit is any mod intented to be put on top of SU should work. I hope Bersy would look at it since wogify script includes some important fixes, ERA not yet have and some library functions/macros neccessary for SU-compability. I wish it would be included in ERA2.5 but if it is not possible I would be perfectly fine if Bersy include it int newer WoG Revised (all rights allowing from me granted, moreover I please to do so).

In the past I played a lot with castle gold reserve upgrade and finally concluded that it was not worth the cost, way too expensive. In my opinion as player, raising even more the cost is a sure way to ban the script for ever.

I know is a hell to accord the violins between everyone, but unless there are many complaints, why change not broken things?

What I mean is, on 21st page of this thread, there is an updated Wog Revised with an edited text: Artefacts are corrected as artifacts, script titles are spelled with capital letters where they should etc etc. For next update of your patch use that as your base text or when i use it i'll have to correct the stuff on your mod's text too.

Of course this would all be fixed if the main page is updated, at least cleaning out the duplicate versions would be good start.

Yes, uniting this with Wog Revised is a good idea, the new ban options are nice and bug fixes are always an improvement. On Castle Upgrading i agree with Salamandre though, 7000 gold is expensive enough and this change should be out if this and Wog are united. I also can't understand why right-click Mithril enhancement is replaced with ctrl-click. Right-click was working just fine and this should also be out. I corrected the typos and misspellings of the Wog Menu again for SU Patch, here is the corrected version. It's a box.com link and much faster anyway:
