I know I followed them, at least for Dace. For Black Dragon, I figured it out myself. There is, sadly, only one way in each battle (if you have not a very big army).

Let us know how you deal with Mephala, there is where I gave up again.
Beat her, but couldn't resurrect last two stacks, no mana, so must get less casualties. First turn is critical, but in 50 reloads I never got the morale I need on enchanters, while he gets twice or more morale, each time. Weird.

Still at reloading, but I got a tactic:

Use Offense hero.
1 Harp
1 Harp
1 Harp
~800 Enchanter
All Harpies
Angels
Devils


First round block gate with Angels, Devils wait. Then block Grands with 1 Harpy, hope for Enchanters to cast bless, then cast frenzy, kill the elf stack. Next two rounds meteor shower + attacking of fly troops, never forget to block Elfs by resurrection afterwards.

I got her, lucky. Manticores entangled grands and pegassis on retaliate, Enchanters got frenzy and morale, then all dead except trees, then moved around during 80 rounds while he decimated me with lighting bolt, then resurrect. Long battle because masochist mapmaker, all AI heroes have badge of courage. Did not block gate, was more fun to see them trying to get out then die to frenzy.

While I gave up several times, my ego just can't take it, so I made huge progress, and now only two battles left, then map is over.

Some hard battles:




Mephala was hard as hell






4000 faeries, had to wear power of dragon and get them in a tricky way:



Interesting that Archery specialist is so much better than Offense one. I tried several battles with both and Crag could not do it as well. AI plays perfectly when good setup, was surprised to see how well it chooses spells and strategies. Longest battle: Malekith, had to wait in castle that he waste 1500 mana on cure. I tried to clone archangels and resurrect all but he kept ignoring the clone and imploded my archangels endlessly, thus antimagic was required until his mana was over.

Expert Archery gives 50% damage bonus, while Offense - only 30%. With more levels this value is multiplied and the difference becomes even more visible.

In theory it does so, but don't forget that offense shines when we use creatures which do 10x more damage than shooters. In such maps our army is composed mainly from level 7 mobs. So 50% bonus for let's say archimages is still lower than 30% bonus for dragons or angels.

Comparing time:

Two heroes level 20, attacking units with same defense, each only with his specialty:

Orrins Enchanters made from monks (3) = Enchs dmg 30 * 3 = 90 * 2= 180
Crags  Archangels 2 per week = Archangels dmg 50 * 2 = 100 * 1,6 = 160

Means, numbers make the difference, and in these maps you always have more shooters then lv 7 ones, at least most of the time...

I won the map

Last battle seemed hard, but no one can stand double life phoenixes. Once cyclopes gone, it was only a matter of resurrect every turn and shoot the crap out of azures.

The only hero which required 5 hit&run was Malekith, to get rid of his devils. The mapmaker found a very complex position of external tavern, so hit and run takes several days to do again, good thing.

All others are beatable sooner or later, they can be also locked at sea, but the player should pay attention who's locked. A few heroes have seer artefacts and if not killed, you can't continue.

Well, the mapmaker is genius, and indeed I learned several things. I still have to convince me to resist the sod fails, as it become very uncomfortable to play such maps without the possibility of renaming towns, check dwellings and other useful things wog has. Nothing but recruiting 1st day armies through 25 towns is painful. Still, those maps are awesome.

I see your points-they are valid also.
My own thinking is that everyone who spends his/her time to make good maps deserve my deep respect and gratitude.
Well sometimes mapmakers have some weird ideas but diversity is key to improvement.

Map is not weird, is just that I lost ability to play such difficulties and became lazy. Is a very good map with very unpredictable actions, as AI is very aggressive.  I wish more players could try it, so we can share strategies, not sure I played optimal.
