You are implying we should justify and tolerate abuse because it's expected from publishers to abuse their customers? Oh sorry! They are not abuse, they are calculations and accepted practices...Right!

After you called us naive before for not knowing how publishers deal with their customers, I have only to offer my sympathies to you if that's the way you're used to being treated. Well, I'm not. And I can assure you I buy lots of games. Last one being Warlock: Master of the Arcane, which is a $20 game (!) with nearly no bugs, DLC's in the $2-3 range, content being added and fixes being made regularly, and published by a publisher (Paradox). I know, that's evil!

You've already answered your own question. It isn't abuse. If it was, every publisher would have their pants sued off them eight ways untill christmass.
And it is not I who feels to have been abused. I gambled and lost, it is as simple as that. And from what I can see, my loss seems to be attempting to fix itself.
Paradox isn't evil. But I find their games or those of their subsidiaries, and I've played a few, not nearly as engaging and frankly tedious to play after 20 min.

Quote:
Look, Ubisoft are not releasing games in vacuum so it's pretty easy to tell if they are just greedy pigs or stick to the standard market prices. If other companies can release DLCs with a lot more content for lower prices, then this particular DLC is overpriced, period. Ever heard of free DLCs? Check The Witcher 2, a game which among other things have never had even 1/10 of the problems that Heroes VI still has. Frankly the only thing that's stopping me from making a campaign of 3-4 maps and selling it on the Internet for 10 euro  apiece is that the editor is Ubisoft property - what else stops me or any other person from doing so? The DLC offers nothing else, save some artifacts and heroes, i.e. irrelevant padding. Would you buy the campaign if it was made by a non-Ubisoft person?

If that person had the same reputation for storytelling as Marzhin, and I feel that rep is deserved, then I would be prepared to pay for a campaign. And from what I can see, with a great deal DLC with less content for the same price or marginally less, I'd say that a full campaign for 10 euros is on the steep end perhaps, but still reasonable value(content) for money.
And before you ask, I work for my money and after rent, gas, insurance and food, I have about 400 euros petty cash left at the end of the month.

Quote:
If you think that consumer = brainless milch cow, the problem is yours

It is not that I equate consumer to brainless milk cows. Every Individual is able to make reasoned descisions about their consuming behaviour. Yet as a collective, consumers behave as minimaxers. And I have read a few convincing scientific articles to confirm that. So not playing to that as a supplier who has a fairly stable demand, is foolish.

Suit yourself then but don't act surprised that other people actually consider these 10 euro too high a price for a bunch of maps with a wannabe reincarnation of one of the series' icons.

It's fairly obvious that there are people who will buy anything no matter what and if that's Ubisoft's target audience, then Heroes is already dead quality-wise. In any case, all who help that trend deserve all the broken, semi-playable and badly designed junks that Ubisoft throws at them and have no ground to complain one bit. The rest of us are however in our rights to demand quality for our money.

Oh, gotta love this kind of rhetoric replies. This is like arguing with a tree... Only that I know for certain you got what I meant.

An abusive company doesn't necessarily mean they're doing something illegal. So they can't get their pants sued off. But, of course, I suppose you would't call a company like that "abusive". Instead, you would say that anything that's not illegal, is "calculations and accepted practices". Well, my friend, you are the very sap that sustain them. Keep it up; they love you.

Funny. I think his reasons are pure nonsense. Like, for instance:  "Not buying the product will not make the product better. It will only say to the brand owner that he should not invest more then he will get back". Like...brand owners try to invest to get less than they invested?. The rest of his reasons are like this...

I have two questions to people
who are strongly against buying DLC..

1) Will you buy the DLC if it actually proves to be good?
(decent story, major bugs fixed, new neutrals, balance improved, good campaign etc.)

2) Will you buy the DLC if price is reduced lets say from 10euro to 6-7euro for example?

They do not promise any "major bugs fixed, new neutrals, balance improved" in the DLC. There is no point in discussing a hypothetical situation when all the negative feedback around is partially because the DLC will NOT have such content but only - and eventually - a "decent story" and "good campaign" in case Marzhin has done well.

No. Not for this content, not from this company.

I will not buy it, because I think that 10 Euros is too much.

I would buy it for half the price - and easily, because I do not think the game is too broken and I'm fairly sure that 1.5 will do a lot of good.

Still, the game is not worth a kneefall which means, they can't just ask any price and people will virtually grab stuff with both hands because everyting is so cool and fantastic.

The promise to do that for free in 1.5, so I actually fail to see your point. You can basically check for free whether the game is improved, then buy DLC or not, depending on state of game and price/content

When JJ, one of the biggest Ubi supporters since H5, says he's not interested, that's saying a lot IMO.

I still contend that as a sign of good faith, they should have stuck their money grubbing hands in their pockets and given us this DLC for free after that embarrassing garbage release of the Beta that they called a finished product.

I knew when I wrote "not interested", there would be a rebuttal. My bad as that was a misrepresentation on my part.

Still, your last sentence spoke volumes considering your past history with them.

Sim turns and Bad map generator

Two things I have never ever used in any heroes game befor:
Sim turns and Bad map generator...

I consider RMG a very low priority task - even 2 more neutrals are more important than that.

However, Heroes VI needs at least this 3 bigs issues if wants to live in the long way:

- Quite intuitive, easy to use and at the same time powerful MAP EDITOR.  New maps bring more replayability, so so so few maps have been made. Also, fixing the bug that prevents maps playable in multiplayer (iirc it haven't fixed yet) it's a must.

- Rework of the Skill System: Actually it's boring, we need some kind of modification to give real choices on the skills.

- Simultaneous turns: Anyone who have tried before knows who they speed up the multiplayer game.

Apart from that, the DRM sucks, but more or less we can survive with it. I still miss one hand weapons non Dinasty ones because of obvious balance reasons.

In my opinion, Ubisoft should make a first expansion with a new faction (Academy) and bring minor things with it, and fixing bugs, and maybe try to work on a better editor. Then in the second expansion bring big things like options 2 & 3.

The problem, however, is who is going to make the expansions...maybe it's that they release the DLC, they win some extra money for a very low cost, to get a better budget for other studio?
