Michael screams as he empties his second drum of ammunition into the monster, desecrating its reamins and sending a very clear message to any further abominations in the area. He only stops when Ryan comes over and very carefully points to the gate. Michael walks away, but not before kicking the abomination one last time.

After collecting himself, Michael heads through the portal and finds himself in the Plateau of Leng.

Bob Jenkins put down the moldy tome he had been sifting through, disturbed. He did not know who had written it nor wished to. It was worrying to the salesmen to see his name penned in the old book. Even more worrying was that a book written in 1846 stated a merchant named "Bob Jenkins" would be devoured by giant worms in a foolish attempt to stop the world from being destroyed by a cosmic entity.
Gently he placed the book back on the shelf, fearing any disrespect towards it would result in further catastrophe.
"Not interested?" asked the proprietor of the curiosity shop.
"N-no," replied Bob as he tried to recompose himself. "Where did you discover such a macabre book? It's horrible."
The shopkeeper shrugged. "You know, I am not entirely sure where I got it from. I don't ever recall purchasing it or receiving it as a gift... It's almost as if it's always been here. Perhaps you were meant to find it?"
The thought immensely unsettled the salesman. The shopkeeper sensed his discomfort and fearing that he would lose a potential customer, tried to placate the man. "I'm sorry that you did not find anything you cared for. Perhaps I could interest you in something else?"
"That's OK. I've had enough of this store for quite some time."
"Don't say that. Here" the merchant produced two small stubs. "Why don't you take this and consider it a gift from me to you."
Bob looked over the two pieces of paper. "What are these?"
"Tickets to see the new play in town everyone is raving about. They are quite expensive and, unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. I would like you to have them in hopes you'll consider shopping at my humble establishment again."
Bob smiled to himself. He knew the merchant's game well and silently commended the shopkeeper's initiative. "OK. I will take them. What's the play called?" He asked as he stepped foot out the door.
The shopkeeper smiled. "The King in Yellow."
