I would counter argue about Blizz's story telling, but yeah... BfA goes Garrosh 2.0 right now from all it seems.

I'd say it was WotLK that was the end of their creativity storywise, wrapping up Arthas, at least decently.

Blizzard storytelling isn't bad, but it's repetetive. Lore is good, at least for me. I own all three Chronicles books, and there is a lot of creativity here, even if it's not full of omg plot twists and the like. It's simply a rich and vibrantly realized fanatsy world which is fun to dive into. And with all the hate Diablo 3 story got (mainly because it killed off some characters inelegantly, while being detached from past stories) I actually didn't recieve it negativly.

But I started to worry about the outside of things, it's af if they are loosing this magic touch, focusing on quantity not quality. I enjoyed their work so much more until not so long ago.

Not to mention they are really starting to lower their "ESRB" standards, to the point of making me puke. Their past games were so much more brutal and gritty.

Egh it's hard to talk about them while not getting into fanboyish side of things. It would be so much easier to say "snow this and stop whining, move along"...

But for the first time ever, I'm really dissappointed with Blizzard.

I'm talking about their single-player games, I've never played WoW. When it comes to immersion, Diablo I is better than Diablo II which is monstrously better than Diablo III. StarCraft is in an even worse shape - a fairly decent (if plagiarized) sci-fi with excellent music, sounds, overall feel for each race and story got a Britney Spears sequel.

I treat WoW story as an ongoing thing, as it includes every Warcraft RTS storyline, and might be continued someday in Warcraft 4.

Starcraft II story was worse then in the first entry, although it's a matter of atmosphere and scope imo (they needed to take the conflict on higher level, add an uber-antagonist etc). But the presentation was almost god-tier, I really liked the almost RPG-like elements between the missions (talking to NPC's, buying upgrades, looking for easter eggs etc). I replayed the campaigns a few times already.

Overwatch has no story whatsoever (only bit's and pieces of lore), and I was never into Diablo lore so I can't even say if it has a decent story (seems ok to me, well maybe excluding D3). The HotS original lore is rather bland (forces of good vs bad and a goth-loli teenage rebel).

As you can see Warcraft Universe is my main point of reference.

Diablo 3 story felt so childish. I had forgotten why it got me upset 5 years ago when I was playing it. Now that I returned playing it and had to replay the story; Jesus, terrible. At least I got it in English now, because back then we couldn't even change the language, and some of the Brazilian Portuguese voice actors chosen for the job used to dub an old Mexican comedy show ... so it felt all wrong, both voices chosen, and the childish way the story was being told and the way villains behaved ("Mwar, har, har! While you were busy doing this, I malevolenty went that other place, did this and that! You'll never stop me! MWar, har har! You'll only stop me if you do this and that! Mwar, har har!")

Yeah like, Diablo II story was about madness, feeling of hopelesness and encirclement. You really felt like forces of darkness/hell went on a rampage and world was on the edge. And there came this colorful and full of cheap fireworks setting of Diablo III vanilla. Reaper of Souls at least tried to make things right, the gothic-like Westmarch under siege was cool and gritty.

Guess today's kiddies are not up to such scary stories... thus we are getting a no-blood, rated: "E for Everyone", trailer for D: Immortal.

PS: Oh btw. For all those who say red shirt out-of-season joke guy is a dickhead (not on this board I hope ): https://us.diablo3.com/en/blog/13607363/ascend-to-victory-with-happy-reaper™-4-1-2014. Yeah, in 2014 Blizzard made an april fools joke about a mobile Diablo game.

You mean hilarious as in "fun to watch with popcorn" or "whiny toxic babies vs developers". Cus if is the latter you're underestimating the gist of the issue. I think this whole thing shows how twisted the industry has become with devs doing what they want when money is included, because they can, and what so-called gaming journalists think of their fellow gamers.

I think it's past the I don't give a f*, "react" with funny memes/insert irony here phase...

If this is about ARPGs, play Path of Exile instead. One of the best games ever created in my opinion, Diablo 3 doesn't even compare. All content for free.
If this is about Warcraft, WotLK was peak and then Cataclysm was a catastrophe. I did follow the story however, mostly a letdown. BfA is garbage-tier filler that was seen before.
If it's about Blizzard as a whole, the only game in recent years that I enjoyed from them was StarCraft 2, having completed everything but Legacy of the Void. Also Heartstone for the viewing experience but nothing more.
As for how things are going and in what direction, I don't really care. There's plenty of good games to go around, it's not like Blizzard is the be all end all of the industry. Their downfall is regrettable, but I won't stop to worry or grief. What good would that do?

Actually you guys are right. There's no point in going through this, what can we do, eh?

It's just sad. Moving along and pretending nothing happens or laugh it off is the best course of action. It seems there are only a few small bastions of normality left (companies that don't shove their greed in the face or non-politically correct ones). Let's just wait till progressive people sue the living crap out of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQeLG1DTgmA.
